[Reproducible] with arbitrary background picture and server installation of
LOdev 4.0.0.0.beta1+ - ENGLISH UI / German Locale [Build ID:
6d4a55bf38a1c470c49f904dbbddf94eb2f6154)] {tinderbox: Win-x86@6, pull time
2012-12-17 08:36:40} on German WIN7 Home Premium (64bit) with own separate User
Profile

It does not matter whether I save as MSO2007 or OOXML.
When I open saved document with OOo 4 or MS, WORD Viewer I do not see a page
background.
Works fine for save as .doc.
It seems that the picture really will be lost, the document with a 148KB
picture will be saved as a 4KB .docx.

Same with LibO 3.6.4, 3.5.7., 3.3.3, it seems that never worked.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 58820] New: : LibO uses always letter as printer format

2012-12-28 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=58820

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 58820
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: : LibO uses always letter as printer format
  Severity: enhancement
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
  Reporter: yfji...@novell.com
  Hardware: Other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.1.0.0.alpha0+ Master
 Component: Printing and PDF export
   Product: LibreOffice

This is an old bug from:

  https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=414438

Basically it reveals the default paper type preference can not be saved by LO.

The printers are defined locally as CUPS printers and display A4 as format

I have
* uninstalled OO,
* removed /usr/lib64/ooo*
* removed ~/.ooo*

reinstalled OO 2.4.6.1

all documents (OO, MS-Office) including my own templates (page A4) are printed
as letter (unless I change it each time)

I tried to change the printer settings to A4 in
* File printer settings
* Templates Organize Commands Printer Settings
* Templates Organize My Templates Printer Settings

IMHO these settings are not written to disk as even after closing a word
document and reopening a new one with template A4 all printer settings are back
to letter.

I get similar behavior.
LibreOffice 3.5.2.2 on Fedora

Steps:
1) Create two rectangles, for example tall and skinny.
2) on ONE of the rectangles, grab the middle resize box and drag to right so
the rectangle is inverted.
3) Select and Group the two rectangles.
4) Right click, position and size, and rotate, say 30 degrees.

The result is that the two rectangles rotate in different directions.

--- Comment #3 from Joren De Cuyper joren.libreoff...@telenet.be ---
No need to sorry. I'm glad you take some time replying and working with
LibreOffice. Thanks for that!

(In reply to comment #2)
 (In reply to comment #1)

I think this is not a bug. If you select 'none' as Style ... there will be
no border line at all. For what instance would you like to use a transparent
  border?

One use-case could be to create a gap between the image an the rest of the
elements of the document. Although for text elements this can also be done
via the Wrap - Spacing function...

When I select 'none' as Style, the preview on the left of the window shows
that there is no border at all.

This is not 100% correct. The preview shows different symbols for

 Line arrangement: set no borders

 and

Line arrangement: set all four borders: style: - none -

I can confirm that now (sorry I missed that first)

But even if this function is meant to do nothing then it is also a bug,
because a function that does nothing is obviously completely nonsense.

I can agree that

In this case - none - should be completely removed from the list of
 selectable border styles.

Otherwise I think this is for some people a handy feature (because they don't
know how to use the left pane of the 'border' tab. If you aren't aware of the
presence of the 5 'Default Line Arrangements', this could be a easy
'workaround' for them.

This is not an easy 'discussion'.

I'll rest this bug status to 'unconfirmed', so another QA (quality assurance)
worker can look at it. Otherwise I'll lower the priority to 'trivial', 'low'
because of the flowchart
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/images/0/06/Prioritizing_Bugs_Flowchart.jpg.
Currently there are more important bugs to crunch at this moment (= prepare to
release LO 4.0 in February).

Thanks!
Joren

I confirm that any hotkey assigned to ApplicationRecent Documents does
nothing.
tested on LibO 3.6.4 and LibO 4.0 beta2 using Windows Vista 64bit.

however I wonder if it ever did something... I mean, Recent Documents is just
a submenu item of the toolbar File tab... probably it can be accessed only by
mouse clicks and cannot be opened directly by an hotkey or macro.

does anybody have earlier LibO releases (3.3.x or 3.4.x) to test and see if it
ever worked?

if not, probably this could be labeled as NOTABUG, but I think that that item
(and others which have no effect) should be removed from the customize
keyboard menu to avoid confusion.

Thanks for reporting.

I can confirm this behavior.

When I add several big pictures to Calc, after some images I only can insert
'Black images' (insert - picture - from file...). The other images in the
document aren't affected.

All the images I used in the spreadsheet are scaled down (I did so (on purpose)
not a bug or something). Maybe this bug can lead to a new future: reduce image
resolution/size when scale down image. Otherwise this option can interfere with
'Original Size' button. If the image resolution is scaled down, this button
('original size') would be useless when we would like to go back to a big image
with the best resolution.

No I was assuming that Mac OSX handles a cursor/selection a little bit
different.

But I'm now on Ubuntu 12.10 and can confirm it. So status to 'NEW'
I lowered the importance to 'low', because this is a 'trivial' bug. There are
more important bugs to crunch right now.

But thanks for reporting anyways! Maybe a beginning developer will pick this

--- Comment #2 from Peter peter.wo...@arcor.de ---
Sorry Joren, I figured it out now. The names of mathematical functions are NOT
unique across the different languages. For example, the SUM() function is
SUMME() in German, the SQRT() function is WURZEL() in German. I have the German
language package installed, that's why SQRT() was not recognized.
Confusion came up because HELP is given in English only, the SQRT() function is
described instead of the WURZEL() function.

Best!
Peter

- would it be possible to cherry-pick fdo#56473 on 3.6 branch?

retested on Windows XP 32-bit and Windows 7 64-bit.

bug reproducible in:
Version 4.0.0.0.beta1+ (Build ID: 028fb7162b602d7cdcabac016bb54a7d14960fc)
Version 4.0.0.0.beta2+ (Build ID: 350ae8294a8df78403fd8cdce56b9aeb8178e13)

so, according to these tests and previous done on Vista 64-bit, all Windows
version are affected.

as already pointed out in Comment 1, the bug is not present in ealy beta1+
versions like:

Version 4.0.0.0.beta1+ (Build ID: 546faa79bf3b1e4b222f182d43a9839106a398d)
which come from the first week of december

hence the regression took place in following beta1+ and beta2+ releases.

I suspect (but I could be wrong) that this is a side effect of this committ.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 58622] EDITING: Missing space after the number and point (regression)

2012-12-28 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=58622

--- Comment #5 from Marco Menardi mme...@mail.com ---
I'm puzzled with this bug!
First, I don't have (and probably you don't too) Helvetica font in my GNU/Linux
installation.
Just loading your document in Libo 3.6.2.1 and 4.0beta2 make a difference since
i.e. Foreward paragraph is rendered different (spacing is a bit wider in 4.0 so
lines end with different words since word wrap happened before).
So if I load the document in Windows where Helvetica font exists, 3.6.x and 4.0
behave the same and the exported pdf is the same (see image attached).
If I load the document in GNU/Linux, they are completely different even inside
LO, so of course exporting in pdf can be any better.
I've loaded the text in 3.6, selected all the text, Formatting - Remove direct
formatting, then produced a pdf from 3.6 and 4.0 and diff-pdf.
Then are almost identical, except the - wordwrapping, and the bottom
paragraph on page 2 (Default’ services, using an Agile approach...) that 4.0
puts on next page due to the fact that word wraps the above line at business
producing one more line than 3.6.
In short I can't confirm the 10. issue you are raising, but I'm surfacing a
different behaviour when fonts are not present in the guest OS, and also in
some circumstances.
A friendly suggestion / warning: you'd better try to produce a copyright
free, very short sample of the bug you find, that makes much easier to
troubleshoot (i.e. have a look at the odt source code to check differences) and
saves you from embarrassing positions. Once you put a file on the web, even if
for a limited period, you completely loose control over it!

Back to the bug, I don't know what to do, I can confirm that there is an issue,
but is not the one reported even if probably related.

I have a complex document that for some reason has started to do exactly this
also. Performing an update on the page formatting will cause it to crash every
time. If a manual update isn't performed then at some point it seems like it
will do it on its own and crash after a period of time trying to update.

If the displaying of comments is turned off in options it seems to function
normally (at least so far). Also a slight delay in the display of characters
when typing seems to be gone also. It would seem that when the comments are
being displayed extra work is being done which shouldn't be happening.

After upgrading from 3.5.7 to 3.6.4.3 I noticed that entering data in a 14
sheet spreadsheet was extremely slow. When entering data and pressing ENTER or
an arrow key it takes 10+ seconds before the program responds. However I
couldn't reproduce this with a simple single sheet spreadsheet. Unfortunately I
cannot attach the spreadsheet as it contains confidential data. To test whether
the file itself might have become corrupt I have tested this with another
spreadsheet, with the same result.

I have tried to open this sheet in 4.0b2 and the behavior is the same.
Unworkable slow. A downgrade to 3.5.7 resolved the problem, this version of LO
is much more responsive.

System: Win7 64bit, LO: Dutch language.

confirmed on 3.5.4... but I suppose it has always been like that even on 3.3.x

so changed SUMMARY, VERSION and COMPONENT and PLATFORM

basically some submenu items like:
File/Recent Documents
File/Wizards

are shown in the Customize/Keyboard/Functions list and can be assigned to
hotkeys, which however will have no effect at all since these submenu items can
be opened just with mouse and manual selection.

so I see 2 possible solutions:

1- do not offer those items from the key customizer and remove them from the
list to avoid confusion among users

2- make the hotkey work, opening the File Menu with focus on the proper submenu
item

such a feature already exists.

1- select text or paragraph containing errors
2- click Format/Autocorrect/Apply

if your autocorrect replacement table has a match for those errors it will
correct them.

just my personal opinion.
