[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 81829] New: VIEWING: Can't page down accurately in Entire Page view Windows 7

2014-07-28 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=81829

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 81829
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: VIEWING: Can't page down accurately in Entire Page
view Windows 7
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Windows (All)
  Reporter: warrenm...@gmail.com
  Hardware: Other
Whiteboard: BSA
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.2.5.2 release
 Component: Writer
   Product: LibreOffice

Problem description: It is not possible to use Writer to read a long document
properly because it does not align pages properly when page down pressed.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open a large document in Writer under Windows 7.
2. Select Entire Page from View/Zoom
3. Press page down.

Current behavior: Page down will align the document so that the interpage break
is roughly in the middle of the viewing area. The top of the area will show the
end of the previous page and the bottom of the area will show the start of the
current page. Continued pressing of page down will continue to align the page
break in the approximate centre of the viewing area.

Expected behavior: Page down should align the document so that the top of the
page is at the top of the viewing area and only that page should be visible.
Continued pressing of page down should display each successive page taking up
the entire viewing area.

Further information: This is the same bug that was listed earlier as FDO#65885
and wrongly closed by James a year ago with WORKSFORME when he used LO 4.1.0.1
on OS X 10.8.4.

This is a Windows Bug and should not be closed by an Apple user.

Operating System: Windows 7
Version: 4.2.5.2 release

Mike, ah your explanation maked it clear to me. summe is not the problem. You
cat try anything else, like foo. Writer only interprets the A1:A3 part of
=summe(A1:A3). Looks like the angle brackets are some shortcut to sum?!

The issue is, that writer should not silently ignore the wrong function name,
but display an error, that the function was not found. Then it would be clear
to everyone.

As that is clarified I set it to NEW.

Such UI 'ideas' are called 'bullshit'.

Please explain.

The choice is always going to be binary. It doesn't make sense to use a menu in
this case.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 81830] New: FILEOPEN: LibreOffice hangs on opening .ods file

2014-07-28 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=81830

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 81830
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: FILEOPEN: LibreOffice hangs on opening .ods file
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux (All)
  Reporter: bugzi...@1e3.de
  Hardware: Other
Whiteboard: BSA
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.1.6.2 release
 Component: Spreadsheet
   Product: LibreOffice

Created attachment 103577
  -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=103577action=edit
.ods file that LO does not open. Any other .ods would have done.

Problem description:

Steps to reproduce:
1. LibreOffice working fine. Possibly: (a) work with a LibreOffice draw
document in between -- this was one instance when this happened or (b) saving
spreadsheet as an .xlsx-file.
2. Original .ods nor any other .ods can load anymore. LibreOffice just hangs.
3. Creating new .ods works, saving it works, all other components work, opening
previous .xlsx works.

Current behavior: Hanging upon fileopen. Both from command line as well as from
menu, and for *any* .ods document.

Expected behavior: Just open file.

Had this in previous version and only solution was a reinstallation of
LibreOffice! Now this happened again with 4.1.6.2 build 410m0 (Build 2).

I attach a very simple .ods file that was created with the same LO build, but
like any other .ods doesn't open.

I did try to delete my profile the first time I had this problem. No change.

Operating System: openSUSE
Version: 4.1.6.2 release

That was a known limitation of the formerly used libwpg API. librevenge has

 This is the desired result
Thinking of it again, when it comes to the recent documents list it does make
sense to open in the same component the user used to create that file. Surely
we could find a way to store the last used document service for each document
in the recent list. So I'll reopen this, and set as enhancement.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 81833] New: EDITING: ProtectForm attribute in settings.xml cannot be changed in Writer.

2014-07-28 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=81833

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 81833
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: EDITING: ProtectForm attribute in settings.xml cannot
be changed in Writer.
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux (All)
  Reporter: nikoa...@gmail.com
  Hardware: Other
Whiteboard: BSA
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.2.5.2 release
 Component: Writer
   Product: LibreOffice

Problem description:
In some documents (I'm working with [1]) there is a ProtectForm attribute set,
which persists after saving .doc to .odt, which disables editing of any content
outside of some kind of form fields. Design mode doesn't work, and Format
Sections menu item is greyed out. Nothing else worked, and I've found a
mention of this ([2],[3]) and a fix in [3] which works. This implies that there
is no method (or no easily visible one) to change that flag inside of Writer.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open a document
2. Try to edit something outside of fields
3. Try to disable this protection

Current behavior:
Editing is prohibited, and there is no visible way to disable protection
without manual editing of .odt.

Expected behavior:
There is a way to do this.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 70836] FORMATTING: Line-break not working correctly when the text is vertical

2014-07-28 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=70836

--- Comment #1 from Owen Genat owen.ge...@gmail.com ---
I do not believe this is a valid bug report as it is conflating /character/
formatting with /paragraph/ behaviour. Using the provided instructions the
characters on each line are oriented to run vertically, however this does not
affect the arrangement of paragraphs, which are still positioned one above the
other.

The behaviour of this facility has remained consistent from v3.5.7.2 to
v4.3.0.3. Workaround: Use a textbox and rotate the entire text box.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 68441] FORMATTING: conditional custom cell formatting expressions fail with @ token

2014-07-28 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=68441

--- Comment #10 from Owen Genat owen.ge...@gmail.com ---
(In reply to comment #0)
Consider the following cell format : [0.05][BLUE]small;[0]negative;@
it should print small for numbers between 0 and 0.05, negative for
negative numbers and treat all other data as text.

I am not convinced that treat all other data as text is an accurate
representation. Formats should be respected.

LO Calc Number Format Codes page:

https://help.libreoffice.org/Common/Number_Format_Codes#Including_Text_in_Number_Format_Codes

To include text in a number format that is applied to a cell that might
contain text, enclose the text by double quotation marks ( ), and then
add an at sign (@). For example, enter Total for @ to display Total
 for December.

MS Excel Number Format Codes page:

http://office.microsoft.com/en-001/excel-help/number-format-codes-HP005198679.aspx

If included, a text section is always the last section in the number format.
Include an at sign (@) in the section where you want to display any text
entered in the cell. If the @ character is omitted from the text section,
text you enter will not be displayed. If you want to always display specific
text characters with the entered text, enclose the additional text in double
quotation marks ( ). For example, gross receipts for @

Sounds to me like @ should only be displaying content under either Calc or
Excel if it is text. For numbers (e.g., the 42 in the example) either # or 0
would appear to be required.

This is going to need a developer to determine.

installed. I am running Debian 7 x86_64 and using v4.1.6.2 and v4.3.0.3 the
sample audio files here:

Ollie, how did you install LO and which LO packages have you installed? After
unzipping the website install download I generally use:

$ sudo dpkg -i *.deb

... in order to install all LO packages. Perhaps try that to see if it makes
any difference?

I think according to comment 2 and comment 6 this report can be confirmed. As
comment seven in the related Apache issue indicates,
/core/sw/source/core/unocore/unotbl.cxx was changed back in 2005 to return null
because the internal table representation does not have columns.

The related change appears to be 904d699f6d76154e541c35395c69d6c85712ec2a which
states: 2005/07/13 13:37:25 tl 1.91.168.1: #i21669# SwXTableColumns::getByIndex
returns an empty XInterface now.

Exactly how the issue might be resolved remains a problem, but the report at
least would seem accurate. Apache issue added to See Also list for reference.

ALT+ENTER is the provided and expected method of breaking out of a section
(columns) or table. The main point made in this report is the low
discoverability of the ALT+ENTER functionality. I think at the very least the
summary needs clarifying as to exactly what enhancement is being requested.
Perhaps what is envisaged is some sort of hover-on-section-bottom pop-up menu?
Auto-adding a paragraph after a section or table is not an appropriate
solution.

--- Comment #9 from Hyogapag hyoga...@yahoo.fr ---
Auto-adding a paragraph after a section or table is not an appropriate
 solution.
Does it mean I should open a new bug because LibreOffice *does* automatically
add a line after a table if the cursor is on the last line of the document ? Or
that I should interpret LO behaviour with tables as an *insertion* of the table
before the active paragraph ?
Anyway, the behaviour of LO is not consistent between tables and columns in
spite of what you wrote.
In the bug description, would it be right if I request that Format Columns
*inserts* a multi-col paragraph instead of transforming the active paragraph
into a multicol one ? This way, LO behaviour would be consistent between tables
and columns, the discoverability issue would be gone and there would not be any
auto added content.

Slowness is due to the massive amount (1000) of conditional formats, most on
sheets FT-ING-PR-02 and FT-ING-PR-03, many of them even applied to identical
ranges. Looks like a result of heavy copypaste actions, or the macro you
mentioned creates them. All these conditionals also extremely slow down
scrolling around in the document once it was loaded.

@Markus:
Shouldn't a conditional style when pasted be merged with its neighbors if
identical? Can we somehow detect and correct this mess during document load?

@Eduardo:
You could unprotect the sheets and invoke Format-Conditional-Manage and
manually remove all the single formats and extend one of them to cover the
needed ranges. It's quite a tedious task though.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 52084] When I open a file based on my own MODIFIED template (.ott), the program does not ask what it do, etc.

2014-07-28 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=52084

--- Comment #6 from Owen Genat owen.ge...@gmail.com ---
(In reply to comment #0)
When I open a file based on my own MODIFIED template (.ott), the program
does not ask what it do.
When I copy styles between own templates (.ott), what are not opened at this
moment, the program does not save the changes. I did not try this with
 opened templates (.ott files).

I am going to attempt to paraphrase the original report for the sake of
clarity. The reporter appears to have:

- A.ott, template
- B.odt, document based on A.ott

When A.ott is modified and then closed, upon opening B.odt it is expected that
a dialog asking:

The template 'A' on which this document is based, has been modified. Do you
want to update style based formatting according to the modified template?
 [Update styles][Keep Old Styles] [ Help ]

... is displayed. This does not appear to be occurring. Furthermore styles
copied between templates do not appear to be getting saved. This second issue
is likely separate and needs to be reported separately.

I am unable to reproduce the issue as described above using v3.5.7.2 under
GNU/Linux, but as suggested, greater detail about the change in styles (in the
template) may be required to determine what is occurring. It may also be a
Windows-specific issue with an old version.

Thanks Urmas. By the French version of LO I meant LO with the French UI.

Since I am currently using the 4.2.5.2 official release, I will wait until the
4.3.x is officially released and I will let you know about the result...

Thanks in advance for your understanding!

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 81839] New: Wrong behavior of thumbnails in Start Center

2014-07-28 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=81839

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 81839
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: Wrong behavior of thumbnails in Start Center
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux (All)
  Reporter: ray.ouelle...@sympatico.ca
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.3.0.3 rc
 Component: UI
   Product: LibreOffice

When you save a protected ODF file using a password, the preview thumbnail in
the Start Center should not show a small part of the first page but a generic
icon.

LO 4.2 had the right behavior, showing a generic writer, calc, impress... icon
when the file is protected by a password. But, starting with version 4.3 (first
alpha release and up to 4.3 RC3), the preview thumbnail is shown. This is
illogical as it shows a small part of a file that is supposed to be
confidential.

I may also add that the preview thumbnail (thumbnail.png) is usually too big in
Linux (cant't say for other platform). The thumbnail.png file in the ODF
archive increased by 30 kb between version 4.1 and 4.2 (and up) of LO. Of
course, that is marginal in a big file, but when the ODF file is small, the
increase in size is too big and the total archive (the resulting ODF) is too
big for nothing.

NB: Bug is present when saving under .xls format but not when saving in .ods

Not sure why this has taken so long to confirm. There does indeed appear to be
a problem with saving the value of the list box selection for XLS. Edit the
Control Data tab Contents of the linked cell set to The selected entry.
Upon exiting design mode, changing the pull-down, saving the file, closing, and
re-opening, the setting has reverted to Position of the selected entry and
the list box displays a blank entry. Tested under GNU/Linux using:

- v3.5.7.2 Build ID: 3215f89-f603614-ab984f2-7348103-1225a5b
- v4.1.6.2 Build ID: 40ff705089295be5be0aae9b15123f687c05b0a

ODS and PDF from LO v3572, v4162, v4252, and v4303.

(In reply to comment #0)
 1. Create a new spreadsheet.
 2. Apply black thin borders (0.05pt).
 3. Menu Format-Page...-Sheet-Scaling mode: Reduce/enlarge printout;
 Scaling factor: 130%
 4. Export to PDF with default settings.

I found it easier to first format the page and then apply borders to an area of
cells that would fit on a single page at the indicated zoom level, but
otherwise confirmed. Tested under GNU/Linux using:

- v3.5.7.2 Build ID: 3215f89-f603614-ab984f2-7348103-1225a5b

do you still experience this issue with current 4.1.5 or 4.2.0 final

The related Apache issue has an example DOC file that can be used for testing.
I prepared an equivalent test file using an old copy of MSO2007 just to be
sure. Same result opening it under GNU/Linux using v4.3.0.3 so it would appear
the problem persists.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 81765] FILEOPEN: slow loading of .ods and .xlsx

2014-07-28 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=81765

--- Comment #4 from Eduardo Moreno emor...@tokonhu.com ---
(In reply to comment #3)
Slowness is due to the massive amount (1000) of conditional formats, most
on sheets FT-ING-PR-02 and FT-ING-PR-03, many of them even applied to
identical ranges. Looks like a result of heavy copypaste actions, or the
macro you mentioned creates them. All these conditionals also extremely slow
down scrolling around in the document once it was loaded.

 @Markus:
Shouldn't a conditional style when pasted be merged with its neighbors if
identical? Can we somehow detect and correct this mess during document load?

 @Eduardo:
You could unprotect the sheets and invoke Format-Conditional-Manage and
manually remove all the single formats and extend one of them to cover the
needed ranges. It's quite a tedious task though.

The password to unprotect is 123456. The macro create a conditional format when
add a row. Never know how many rows will be add.

If you say the roblem is conditional format, I try to modify the macro to
create only uone range of conditional format.

I report the changes.

Screen shot of displaced document view.

Problem description: Note:- Problem only first experienced in V 4.2.4.2 but we
are not heavy users of LibreOffice.

Documents open displaced to one side of window, (operator's right), with only
left half of document visible unless window is enlarged to full screen.
Document remains to one side as though viewing two pages only there is nothing
showing to left hand side.
Problem initially experienced on a laptop, (also running Windows 8.1) but once
a document was imported for editing on a separate desktop that document was
shown in the same manner and subsequently opening a new file now exhibits the
same behaviour on the desktop as on the laptop.
Selecting to view Entire Page does show everything, though not centred in
window, but other views persist in only showing (the left) part of the page.

Steps to reproduce:
1. .Not known...
2.
3.

Current behavior: I have been unable to make either system display a page
correctly

Expected behavior:The document should open displayed in the centre of the
window and remain there whatever magnification view is chosen.

Updated version of VaryColorsbyPoint (includes VaryColors macro).

(In reply to comment #2)
Apologies, poor understanding/discipline on where to store macros. I have
(I hope) moved the macro from my Standard template into the .ods where it
can be found in Standard\Modules\DorienCode. I have also pasted separately
pasted the code as a text attachment.

Dorian, sorry I have not looked at this before now. I have edited a couple of
the attachments to this report as the text of the macro attached in comment 2
did not replace the original document. I am now attaching a version of the
original ODS with the VaryColors macro saved under Standard Modules
Module1.

(In reply to comment #6)
 1. Open VaryPointsbyColor.ods
 2. Run VaryColors macro: chart appearance changes as shown in 90580
 3. Save and close the VaryPointsbyColor.ods
 4. Reopen VaryPointsbyColor.ods
 5. Run VaryColors macro: chart displays correct appearance as shown here,
with both legend and points showing various colors

Thanks for these helpful instructions. I can now confirm this result with the
attached version of the file.

I checked the issue in LO Writer version 4.3.1 from the current branch (Build
ID 0cb7d753b6b51411ab8dd72eab79f855a1d21c4d), dated 28th of July, and the issue
persists.

When I was making the test file, I added the picture in PNG format, so no
wonder that it is embedded as a PNG. However if I try to EXPORT the picture
from writer and choose JPEG as the output format the picture is nevertheless
EXPORTED as a PNG, as we can see from the output of file utility. It looks like
the Save Graphic function just changes the file extension from *.png to *.jpg
without altering the file itself.

For clarity I included in the attachments the *.jpg file (output.jpg) that is
generated by the Save Graphic function in LO writer. Again, its extension is
*.jpg, however the file utility says, that it is a PNG.

Sorry! The attachment comment links to itself instead of linking to this
comment.

there are Err:522 in some cells if this option is not set.

--- Comment #10 from Owen Genat owen.ge...@gmail.com ---
(In reply to comment #9)
Does it mean I should open a new bug because LibreOffice *does*
automatically add a line after a table if the cursor is on the last line of
the document ? Or that I should interpret LO behaviour with tables as an
*insertion* of the table before the active paragraph ?
Anyway, the behaviour of LO is not consistent between tables and columns in
 spite of what you wrote.
In the bug description, would it be right if I request that Format Columns
*inserts* a multi-col paragraph instead of transforming the active paragraph
 into a multicol one ?

Oh sorry, I see what you mean now, and now I see why you are referring to
auto-insertion of a paragraph.

a) Table Insert Table = object placed PRIOR to cursor paragraph.
b) Insert Section = section placed PRIOR to cursor paragraph.
c) Format Columns = section/columns placed IN the cursor paragraph.

This is an enhancement to get (c) to behave in a manner the same as (a) and
(b). Seems reasonable - apologies for misunderstanding. Summary edited to
clarify consistency in behaviour. Status set to NEW.

the list of fixed bugs is automatically generated by a script
maybe the current fix is a side effect of another related bugfix

anyway, glad to know it's fine in 4.2.6

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 81575] Random font changes

2014-07-28 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=81575

(In reply to comment #5)
 Hi Jeff,

Unfortunately without the original document that we can test against about
the issue of the pasted-text-turns-into-Symbol-font problem, we couldnt look
 further into this issue.

 (In reply to comment #4)
However, the problem with Writer forgetting the new font size after I
change the address section to 8 pt is eminently reproducible.

I wasnt able to reproduce this issue when i opened the attached file,
changed the font to 8pt, saved it, and then reopened it. Is there something
that i'm doing wrong about this issue?

Hi Jay --

Thank you for checking this out. I might not have articulated the forgetting
problem very well... Here's what I meant to say: After setting a group of
lines to the new font size (Arial 9), click on the end of one of these lines to
place the cursor at the very end of the line. Now start typing anything. The
newly typed characters come up in the old size (Arial 11) instead of the new
size you just set (Arial 9).

REOPENED is not the correct status as this is only used by developers when a
bug is assigned. Setting to NEW

Also this is not a Major bug - it does not prevent high quality work (as there
is a workaround from what I can see in the comments).

MAJOR is loss of data/crash that there is no workaround for, here if you go to
insert it seems like the text is imported.

Please don't change the severity or priority again. Thanks
