[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 90801] UI font in menubar is not affected by font substitution
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=90801 --- Comment #8 from Yury yury.tarasiev...@gmail.com --- (In reply to Adolfo Jayme from comment #6) (In reply to Yury from comment #4) Well... Remove this and remove that. The feature was useful on linux I am a Linux user myself, and can hardly believe that removing it affects functionality at all; precisely one of the main features of Linux desktop environments is the ability to change, *globally*, the fonts used by the software programs you use. All of them allow that: GNOME, Unity, Which may be considered -- unexpectedly for some, perhaps -- not the optimal solution for the complex problem of UIs (plural) legibility. There was an additional LO functionality on linux, now there is no more. Big cheers to what? And I'm almost willing to bet the 5.0 series will be even bigger in the sense of diskspace and cycles -- not being bigger in the sense of functionality. You’re being annoyingly disrespectful to the hundreds of contributors who are dedicating their time to improve this software project. And it seems you haven’t even dedicated five minutes to read our release notes. I am myself a contributor, so don't take that tone with me, please. In fact, don't take that tone with anybody, please, even with non-contributors, even with plain dumb users. To the business. Release notes for this (major) release do not take 5 minutes reading, rather 1 or 2. I've reread them just now, for the sake of argument. I do not believe I see the revolutionary changes there -- and how much will the 5.* installation take on disk? in memory? So, is there anything there on years-long problems with Word format interoperability -- which recently got SHOWSTOPPINGLY worse with #88697? Now I can't send even a moderately complex text with bibliography to the editors requiring word without re-setting by hand all bib entries (and what if they should be numbered?). Formulas in word import/export -- don't get me started. And it is word interoperability (not word UI mimicry) that buys you users, not pretty themes or translations, even. Enough, I think. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 90801] UI font in menubar is not affected by font substitution
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=90801 --- Comment #7 from Yury yury.tarasiev...@gmail.com --- (In reply to Jay Philips from comment #5) (In reply to Yury from comment #2) What font did you place in the Font field? Usually, one of the squarish, blackish fonts with easily distinguishable i/l shapes etc., in (in fact, Chicago and Charcoal analogues -- think Grana Padano, Virtue, MacType). I work with OOO/LO texts and formulas a lot, and consider such setup easier on eyes (I use the analogous setup in Firefox, BTW.) Text window is the focus of attention, and UI doesn't get in the way but is readable. This is about the opposite of what's expected of 'system' font, which is used for menus, dialogs, etc., through which we convey our meaning to system. There the 'system' font is the main medium, for all applications in system-wide context, so there are different requirements to it. (In reply to Yury from comment #4) I believe it should be simple for you to change the system-wide font on linux and doing so would change not only the menubar but also the menubar menus. But I already know I can. :) I chose the GTK system font like 15 years ago, and tug the config along through my homedirs. Same with qtconfig. But in fact, I regret there is no capability in system to change the applications' fonts individually -- and I mean change easily, like it was done on OS/2 20+ years ago. Just as a reference, this functionality was changed with bug 87016 and i think having the ability to change it on linux may be beneficial as the font situation on linux isnt the best and it would be beneficial for bugs like bug 70857, where not being able to uncheck this causes sluggishness in the UI. Will through it to ux-advise to let them give their input into it. Bug 87016 was somewhat dubiously formulated and got about zero discussion before it was fast-tracked into the code. I didn't know about that urge to remove the option, or I would chime in. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 90875] Writer and Calc doesnt have easy means of rotating shapes with single click
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=90875 V Stuart Foote vstuart.fo...@utsa.edu changed: What|Removed |Added Status|UNCONFIRMED |NEW CC||vstuart.fo...@utsa.edu Ever confirmed|0 |1 --- Comment #1 from V Stuart Foote vstuart.fo...@utsa.edu --- Shape objects in Writer and Calc are already exposed to a Rotate .uno:ToggleObjectRotateMode action on the Drawing Object Properties toolbar. That is the same action as present in Draw on the Standard toolbar as default for the Effects group button. And in Impress on the Drawing toolbar. It would be reasonable UI to provide similar mouse click toggle of the rotation mode for Writer and Calc shape objects. In addition to mouse movement of a selected object handle, Ctrl+Tab/Ctrl+Shift+Tab to move between the object handles, and cursor key movements already correctly perform the rotation once you reach rotation mode. Additionally, Rotation is such a common action--it would be useful if a global shortcut could be implemented that would either toggle into objects rotate mode, or as in case of Image inserted into Writer offer a dialog of 90 deg rotation button actions. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=70241 Matthew Francis fdb...@neosheffield.co.uk changed: What|Removed |Added Status|UNCONFIRMED |RESOLVED CC||fdb...@neosheffield.co.uk Resolution|--- |WORKSFORME --- Comment #10 from Matthew Francis fdb...@neosheffield.co.uk --- As hinted in comment 7, this concerns the print ranges set for the spreadsheet. When I open attachment 104739, I can see that the print range for the sheet is set to none, but a print preview is still available. Back in 3.3.0.4, a new spreadsheet got a print range of none, but this has since been fixed - a new spreadsheet in 4.4.2.2 automatically gets a print range of entire sheet. Possibly as an attempted affordance for old spreadsheets which were affected by the above bug, a spreadsheet with a single sheet and a print range of none still now behaves like it has a print range of entire sheet. However, as soon as a new sheet is added, this is no longer the case. The interface now makes clear what is going on; while both the print range = none case and the empty sheet case still show a grey screen in preview, they now also clearly show the messages Print Range Empty and No Data respectively to clue you as to why the print preview is empty. Given the above, I don't see that there's anything left to fix here. The solution for old spreadsheets is, where necessary, to set print ranges using Format - Print Ranges - Edit... https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=71437 --- Comment #19 from karel.k.re...@email.cz --- I have been having this problem since installing Ubuntu 14.10 with unity and ibus and with language packs for Czech and French. I often write documents in Czech, French and English and have been particularly having problems with key combinations on a Czech keyboard for characters like Ď, ó, ň, etc. After a while they simply stop working. I found that if I opened a second document simply for testing dead keys, I could get them to work properly for a few strokes when I switched back to the main document I was working on. But then after a hundred or more strokes the dead keys no longer functioned and once again I would have to switch to the spare document to try them once and again they would work for a few more keystrokes. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 90871] UI: Toolbar causes Style Category dropdown in Styles and Formatting Sidebar to open downwards
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=90871 --- Comment #6 from Gordo gordon1dr...@yahoo.com --- I'm running Windows Vista 64. I don't know if it was in a previous version. I had noticed it before but could never reproduce it until it happened again and that's when I realised that it was in instances with the toolbar at the bottom. There is bug 90020 where my context menu disappears behind the taskbar and bug 89914 where one bookmark also disappears behind the taskbar.
