All these points depend on somehow each other. I guess it would be best if some core LibreOffice developers first decide what they actually want... i.e. a main question is, whether one invocation should allow multiple conversions to take place at once. In principle I'd say that this would only be useful if it was then *much* faster then when invoking the program sequentially. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 90997] COUNTIF sometimes compares a cell as not being equal to itself
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=90997 --- Comment #2 from Dane Maslen dane.mas...@virgin.net --- I agree that it's a precision issue, but not in the way you believe. I think your pointing out that rounding to 15 significant figures is another workaround to the problem allows me to conceptually identify what is going wrong in Calc. Irrespective of precision limits the contents of a given cell should always compare as being equal to the contents of that same cell. The formula =IF(A1=A1,1,0) does indeed always give the correct result, i.e. 1. Likely conclusion: Calc directly compares the contents of A1 to the contents of A1. Furthermore when A1 is =RAND() B1 is =A1 C1 is =IF(A1=B1,1,0) C1 always has the correct result, i.e. 1. Likely conclusion: Not only does Calc directly compare the contents of A1 to B1 but also the assignment of a value to B1 from A1 is either being done directly or using intermediate variables of precision at least as great as those used to store the cell values. The fact that COUNTIF(A1:A1,=A1) does not always give the correct answer indicates that the contents of the cell A1 are not being compared directly with the contents of each of the cells in the range A1 to A1 (as noted above, comparing A1 directly to A1 always works). My guess would be that the contents of the cell A1 are copied to an intermediate variable and that that is what is then compared to each of the cells in the range A1 to A1. The fact that COUNTIF(A1:A1,=A1) does give the correct answer when the contents of all the cells have been rounded to 15 significant figures gives a clue as to what is going wrong. It suggests that Calc stores cell values with a precision greater than 15 sf but is using an intermediate variable with precision of only 15 sf when evaluating the COUNTIF comparisons. That's a bug. I've been a programmer long enough to know that if one wants to compare two values that are known to high precision, one doesn't first assign one of those values to a variable of low precision. In summary: when evaluating COUNTIF Calc should be using an intermediate variable of precision at least equal to the precision with which it stores cell values. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

So i checked with the gnome a11y team and they said the sidebar isnt accessible friendly, so i think leaving it as a mouse only interface is a good way to have it as the toolbars are accessibility friendly. With the mouse being the only means of dealing with the sidebar, there isnt a need for quick access via keyboard shortcuts. No checkbox but a (speed) button that rotates clockwise by 90°. I'm assuming you mean the spin buttons with up and down arrows, and if that is true, then i'd stick with the current control we have as you can easily jump to a preset value with 2 clicks rather than many more with a spin button. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

Telling Orca users that they are in the Tool Bar tool bar isn't especially useful. * The accessible panel named Properties is great -- but why is it contained in another panel with the same name? The impact of this is that when the former first gets focused, the latter is presented as part of the context of the new location. Properties panel Properties panel. https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=87672 Yousuf (Jay) Philips philip...@hotmail.com changed: What|Removed |Added CC|libreoffice-ux-advise@lists | |.freedesktop.org| Component|ux-advise |UI Whiteboard||needsDevEval topicUI --- Comment #14 from Yousuf (Jay) Philips philip...@hotmail.com --- Lets see if we can get some evaluation by a dev with some code pointers. @Cor: Thought more about the issue of the view tabs not reflecting the current state and there are two possible solutions that i've come up with. 1) hide the slide pane when in handout and slide sorter views, as it is currently. 2) when in handout or slide sorter views, the view tabs would show tabs for 'Normal', 'Handout' and 'Slide Sorter'. This will allow easy access back to 'Normal' view which would return the older arrangement view tabs. (In reply to Cor Nouws from comment #13) Different approach: can't we place some icon-controls at the left side of the horizontal scroll bar in the middle pane? There is space for all of them, all the different states are properly reflected, the position reveals the frame they act upon... Seems like an interesting approach and would look somewhat similar to how it now looks in Draw. The problems i presently see with this is that we dont have icons for any of these UNO commands and there would be alot of wasted space below these icons. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 90998] New: replace Window/Freeze mode with something more generic
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=90998 Bug ID: 90998 Summary: replace Window/Freeze mode with something more generic Product: LibreOffice Version: unspecified Hardware: All OS: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: enhancement Priority: medium Component: Calc Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: cales...@scientia.net Hey. There is the helpful Window/Freeze mode in Calc, which freezes/unfreezes parts of the displayed columns/rows based on which cell was selected when the window was frozen. When one moves then around, those rows above and those columns left from the cell that was selected during freezing are displayed in a header like fashion (on top and left of the window). This is great and helpful, but also kinda limited, namely to only consecutive cells/rows on the left and top + starting from column A and row 1. I propose a much more powerful schema (which allows everything from the current one plus more): Let the user specify (not necessarily consecutive or starting at 1/A) single and ranges of rows and columns which are to be frozen. Depending on which part of the screen is visible, the frozen rows would be displayed either: - at their native position (that is correctly ordered between their neighbours) - at the very right, left, top or bottom, each time next to their following frozen row respectively column Some examples: Imagine we'd have the following sheet: * * * * A B C D E F G H 1 *2 *3 4 5 *6 7 *8 (rows/columns marked with * are frozen) But our screen fit's only 6 columns/rows. a) I've I'd navigate to the very left/top I'd see then the following: * * * * A B C D E H 1 *2 *3 4 *6 *8 = at the left/top, I see the frozen and normal rows/cells, but the normal rows/cells the the very left/bottom disappear between the frozen ones there. b) If I stay at the top but move to the right, I'd get e.g.: * * * * A C D F G H 1 *2 *3 4 *6 *8 c) At the bottom/right it would be: * * * * A C D F G H *2 *3 5 *6 7 *8 = as you can see, the frozen ones never disappear, just the normal ones are hidden as necessary d) Since the column/row space is positively infinite,... what happens if I move outside (i.e. even more down and/or more right) the already used rows/columns? Well that would then look eg. like this: * * * * A C D H AB BA *2 *3 *6 *8 42 43 I think, for convenience, all places where columns/rows are hidden should be indicated somehow. Actually how, is probably a matter for the UI experts. The current way of displaying a line is IMHO not visible enough. One possible idea could be to colourise the column/row label fields whenever there are hidden ones in between, e.g. for columns this would normally look like: * * A * B * C * D * E * F * * And the background of these would be grey (in the standard colour mode). But when we have some of the columns hidden because of frozen ones, e.g. analogously to example (a) above: * * A * B * C * D * E * H * * then all fields would be grey, except the one from E and H,... which get e.g. a blinking red plus the PC speaker starts beeping (yes I'm kidding) background, in order to indicate: Something is not shown between columns E and H. Maybe one would even paint only half of the label in the notification colour for scenarios like this: * * A * C * D * F * G * I * * Here, we'd be somewhere very right... and columns B, E and H would have not been frozen, which is why we don't see them anymore If we paint the full labels with the notification colour, then every label would have the notification colour, and it would be hard to see, where actually something is missing,... if we only paint the right vertical halves (and in case of rows: horizontal halves) it becomes clear again, e.g. * * A#*#C * D#*#F * G#*#I * * with # marking the colourised half. Best wishes, Chris. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 90997] New: COUNTIF sometimes compares a cell as not being equal to itself
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=90997 Bug ID: 90997 Summary: COUNTIF sometimes compares a cell as not being equal to itself Product: LibreOffice Version: 4.2.7.2 release Hardware: x86 (IA32) OS: Linux (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Calc Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: dane.mas...@virgin.net Created attachment 115244 -- https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=115244action=edit Spreadsheet that demonstrates the bug The formulae =COUNTIF(A1:A1,A1) =COUNTIF(A1:A1,A1) sometimes return the value 1 while the formula =COUNTIF(A1:A1,=A1) sometimes returns the value 0. Formulae like =COUNTIF(A1:A1,=A1) =COUNTIF(A1:A1,=A1) =COUNTIF(A1:A1,A1) similarly sometimes return incorrect values. Clearly no one would actually want to make use of the above formulae, but the bug also means that formulae like =COUNTIF(A1:A40,A5) fail to return the correct answer. For example if A5 is the second largest number in the range A1:A40, the above formula will usually return 1 (the correct answer) but will occasionally return 2 because A5 has been counted as being greater than itself. When I looked at existing bug reports, it at first seemed to me that this might be a duplicate of Bug 78447, but that was eventually closed as worksforme on 4.2.7.2, Linux whereas this bug definitely exists on 4.2.7.2, Linux. For the record it also existed on 3.5.7.2, Linux. I've attached a spreadsheet that demonstrates the bug. A1:A230 are random numbers. B1 uses COUNTIF to count the number of times that cells in the range A1:A1 are less than A1 (the expected answer is of course 0). Similarly through to B230. C1 uses COUNTIF to count the number of times that cells in the range A1:A1 are equal to A1 (the expected answer is of course 1). Similarly through to C230. D1 uses COUNTIF to count the number of times that cells in the range A1:A1 are greater than A1 (the expected answer is of course 0). Similarly through to B230. B232, C232 and D232 are counts of the number of times the above uses of COUNTIF produced the wrong answer. Occasionally all three counts will be zero. If so, using F9 to force a recalculation usually produces non-zero values within one or two iterations. With some ingenuity it is possibile to work around the bug. For example although =COUNTIF(A1:A40,A5) will sometimes give the wrong answer =COUNTIF(A1:A40,A5)-COUNTIF(A5:A5,A5) will always give the correct one. Finally I'll speculate that the bug might be caused by the use of an intermediate variable with inappropriate precision, though I have to confess that I would expect that to produce incorrect results more frequently than I observe. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

Bug 40540 and bug 67318 deal with saving as doc and docx. I saved the odt from this test as a doc, closed and reopened the document, and the result was the object had disappeared. This got me thinking that maybe there is some code reuse between changing frame anchors in odt and when converting--anchors change depending on format. So I ran a battery of tests which can be found in the attachment. Saving as doc failed to keep the object in all instances. Saving as docx when the object is anchored to the frame showed promise but in test 7 the frame does not change anchor.
