[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 98298] New: Awful new scrolling behaviour for mouse click in scroll bar

2016-02-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=98298

Bug ID: 98298
Summary: Awful new scrolling behaviour for mouse click in
scroll bar
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.1.0.3 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: l...@zeta.org.au

I noticed a new feature which I'm hoping might be something in Gnome3 that I
can turn off in LO: as of the upgrade from 5.0.3.2 to 5.1.0.3, if I click in
the scroll bar, instead of paging forward (if I click below the scroll-thumb)
or back one page (if I click above it), it now painfully pages forward,
redrawing each page, until it reaches the point that I'd reach if I dragged the
scroll-thumb to that point.

I made the mistake of doing this in a 400-page document with many comments
(i.e., interactivity is very laggy and slow anyway), a distance of about 200
pages forward. Not only did this single mouse click lock up all LO windows
while the next 10 mins passed as it struggled to the new point in the document,
but it interacted awfully with the desktop: I couldn't click to focus on any
desktop item; the most I could do was use Alt-tab to bring different windows to
focus.

If you must jump to the scroll position, rather than scroll by 1 page as LO
used to, at a mouse click, please, I beg you, don't do it incrementally one
page at a time with a redraw for each. It's torture!

We currently have an UNO command to open up the Insert Sheet dialog

to them that would make it easy to insert a new sheet by keyboard.

The new UNO commands should likely be named .uno:InsertSheetLeft and
.uno:InsertSheetRight and should have the shortcuts Shift + F10 and Shift +
F11.

The list items in the middle of the document should have some spacing in
between.

Lists seem more readable with increased distance between items. Distance can be
adjusted with the right side paragraph settings and look well afterwards. If
the document is saved, closed and reopened, the very distance settings appear
in the right side paragraph tools but the list items in the document itself do
not show that distance anymore.

IMHO it would be a good idea to warn the user when opening a document that has
autocalculate off that the document may contain formulas that need
recalculation.
Giving a choice to do a forced recalculation would make it even more user
friendly. (Somewhat similar to the warning you get when a document contain
macros.)

I know from experience in the company where I work that opening such a document
leads to erroneous interpretation of the data and even to suspicion that Calc
is no good.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 98292] New: Automatically create a equation if libreoffice encounters MathML on Drag-and-Drop

2016-02-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=98292

Bug ID: 98292
Summary: Automatically create a equation if libreoffice
encounters MathML on Drag-and-Drop
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.2.0.0.alpha0+ Master
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: medium
 Component: Formula Editor
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: gun...@peterpall.de

This weekend I have added a "copy as MathML" feature to wxMaxima, a graphical
frontend for maxima, a computer algebra system and was surprised that it
actually is useless: Lacking a good text editor I tried to paste the MathML
version of an equation into MS word - and on encountering the line

http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML;>

as the first line of the text object on the clipboard it was automatically
converted to a 2D formula.

Libreoffice nearly provides this feature, too. But currently in order to use it
more steps are needed:
 - manually create a formula and
 - choose tools/import MathML from Clipboard.

...which isn't too bad, but less seamless than the other programme, especially
as the feature is not too easy to find if one doesn't expect it to be somewhere
=> I would like see the autodetection and autoimport of MathML added to
libreoffice, too and write this ticket.

Thanks a lot,
and keep up your good work,

   Gunter.

Just found out that Cmd + Shift + Space doesnt work on Mac, which means it is
another good reason to change this. Bad news is that Cmd + Space also doesnt
work on Mac, so on Mac it will be the same combination of Ctrl + Space and Ctrl
+ Shift + Space as on Windows/Linux.

It is the primary shortcut as both Windows and Mac both specify in their UI
guidelines that it is the default shortcut for it.

My keyboard is English/Arabic. :D

> Perhaps in the Edit menu of Calc, if LO is aware of the current keyboard
> layout being used, it could show "Ctrl+Shift+Space" next to "Select All" for

LO states in its shortcuts documentation that Ctrl+A is for "Select All", so
that wont be changing in the Edit menu.

> For a Excel Workbook that has 3 sheets, opened at Sheet 1:
> 1. Press Ctrl+Shift+PgDn twice.
>You should now have all three sheets selected.
> 2. Press Ctrl+Shift+Space.
>You have now selected all elements in all three sheets.
> 3. Change the font face, font size, alignment, etc.
>You have now changed this for all elements in all three sheets.

You stated "... MS Excel can select multiple sheets: Ctrl+Shift+Space" which is
where the confusion happened as you didnt say that you had to first select the
sheets before doing the shortcut in order to select the contents of the
selected sheets. This also works in Calc with ctrl+A after step 1.

Patch is in - https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/22795

I would guess that the problem is once again in
info:vcl.opengl:29286:1:vcl/source/opengl/OpenGLContext.cxx:747: created a 3.2
core context

So my old code to create a core context is most likely picking a wrong fbc and
therefore generating the context fails. I think some drivers/vendors are a lot
more picky than others when it comes to bad combination of drawable and fbc.

I think at some point we need to clean that up. It was written when I was still
very new to OpenGL.

libreoffice-ux-adv...@lists.freedesktop.org

In order for LibreOffice to feel more native to the Mac OS X platform, it needs
to use similar shortcut keys as other apps and follow Apple's human interface
guidelines on which shortcuts can and cant be used [1]. Some of this effort
happened during the OOo days [2], but it wasnt completed, so i'll be continuing
it and as i dont have a mac, i'll welcome input from mac users to suggest and
test the new behaviour.

test document

Steps to reproduce:

1. Open the attached document. It contains the title at the beginning, followed
by a two-column section for the text.
2. Add a footnote after the title. It is placed as expected below the first
column of the two-column section.
3. Add a footnote after the text.

Expected behaviour:

The second footnote appears directly below the first footnote in the first
column.

Observed behaviour:

A page break is inserted before the text. The first footnote appears on the
first page, the text and the second footnote appear on the second page.

Environment:

Debian Linux 8.3 Jessie (x86)
LibreOffice 5.1.0.3-3 (from libreoffice.org)

I have now just changed the document to ODT format and have copied the
different colours by hand (all 46 pages).

As I wrote, the colouring of the boxes worked fine in LibreOffice 4.3. The
issue have only appeared after I upgraded.

The document was originally also created in LibreOffice and has never been
opened in Word (I only saved in DOC format in case I would have to send the
document to someone who could not open ODT documents sometime in the future),
so it definitely seems to be something that has been changed between
LibreOffice 4.3 and 5.1.0.3. NotOurBug seems a little like stretching the
truth, as does WorksForMe.

On the other hand, I have found a workaround by changing to ODT and copying the
colours, so the issue is not a big deal for me anymore :)

So lets give this a try. For russian, spanish, finish and portuguese i'm
submitting a patch to make insert date as Ctrl + Comma and insert time as Ctrl
+ Shift + Comma.

https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/22792

@Maxim, @Tomaz: Please review my patch if you have the time. :D

(In reply to Pedro from comment #10)

So in portuguese Excel, ctrl + shift + comma (semicolon) works fine to insert
date? So how would you insert time which is supposed to be ctrl + shift +
semicolon?

Thanks for filing and the addition, Jakob.
I think the problem is that ms Doc does not support both and background and
highlighting.
See some info here.

Maybe some smart automation (macro) could help..

I think we should resolve your report to NotOurBug, or WorksForMe?

2016-02-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=98286

Bug ID: 98286
Summary: Calc keyboard shortcut (accelerator) shown in Edit
menu
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: Inherited From OOo
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: ovar...@gmail.com

LO also supports:
Cut Shift+Del (Ctrl+X)
CopyCtrl+Ins(Ctrl+C)
Paste Shift+Del (Ctrl+V)
Note: Excel also supports these shortcuts.

@Jay
If required, you may like to update Calc and Excel in:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1AmDXLkQiFK5OcOrtuGn7iAcqp2Yhc_eNNnlADk-ji-U/edit?usp=sharing

This is beneficial for people who use an Arabic keyboard layout:
https://img.quizlet.com/HrQnx-o.jpg
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arabic_keyboard

Perhaps in the Edit menu of Calc, if LO is aware of the current keyboard layout
being used, it could show "Shift+Del" next to "Cut" for keyboards that do not
have an 'X'.

Blocks Bug 98259 - META: Calc keyboard shortcuts (accelerators).

Perhaps it is the primary shortcut for keyboards that use the ISO basic Latin
alphabet.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_basic_Latin_alphabet

Having LO by default support these would assist people using a keyboard with an
Arabic keyboard layout:
https://img.quizlet.com/HrQnx-o.jpg
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arabic_keyboard

Perhaps in the Edit menu of Calc, if LO is aware of the current keyboard layout
being used, it could show "Ctrl+Shift+Space" next to "Select All" for keyboards
that do not have an 'A'.

> > Ctrl+Shift+Space Select Sheet(s)

> Not sure how Excel could use the same shortcut for both selecting a sheet
> and selecting multiple sheets.

If you require any further explanations, please advise.

Thank you

Added: I forgot to mention, that the file format, I try to save in, is ".doc"
(Word 97-2003).

If I try to save in ODT format, changing the color works just fine, and can be
changed/saved - it does, however, mean that ALL the colour information in all
the other cells is lost when saving from DOC to ODT (so I will have to manually
reapply all color).

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 98285] New: FORMATTING: Background colour in table cells cannot be changed and saved

2016-02-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=98285

Bug ID: 98285
Summary: FORMATTING: Background colour in table cells cannot be
changed and saved
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.1.0.3 release
  Hardware: All
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: m...@jakobkramer.dk

Created attachment 123093
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=123093=edit
A screenshot showing the problem

I have a table in Writer in which I have marked the colour of certain cells. I
have done this without first selecting the entire cell. That is: I have just
left-clicked on the cell and chosen a background colour.

The result has always been (and still is) that the colour is applied to the
cell, but with a small white border. If the cell is a square it looks like a
smaller colured square with a white border within the cell.

Up until I upgraded to LibreOffice 5.1.0.3 (from 4.3, I think), I have been
able to change the colour of this small box, simply by clicking on the cell and
choosing a new background colour.

This is STILL possible in 5.1.0.3, but when I save, the new formatting is NOT
saved. If I save, close the document and reopen it, the old colour is back.

I cannot remove the colour in these boxes. If I mark them and choose to remove
colour all together, nothing happens, and if I choose a different colour, it
will not be saved as described above.

Furthermore, the formatting is applied to new rows inserted below a row with a
coloured cell in the table, so if I have a row with a green box in one cell,
and I insert a new row below this row, the cell below the cell with the green
box will ALSO have a green box.

If I mark an entire cell and choose to apply background colour, everything
works fine. The colour is saved etc. This, however, doesn't help if I want to
change the colour of the smaller coloured box (that is: If I have a cell with a
green box with a white border, marking the entire cell and changing the
background colour to for instance red, will only change the colour of the white
border to red, not the colour of the smaller green box in front of it).

Tomaz - looks interesting =)

Julien - it'd be lovely to have a valgrind trace with those debugging symbols.

The iterator piece in it:

slideshow::internal::UnoViewContainer::begin (this=0x) at
/home/user/libreoffice/slideshow/source/inc/unoviewcontainer.hxx:76

looks like this could be related to some global iterator / container type
change.?

I imagine the:

// init views and create slide bitmaps
for( const auto& pView : mrViewContainer )
this->viewAdded( pView );

that the mrViewContainer is a broken reference at this stage; but valgrind
would give us more =)
