https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=60268 --- Comment #44 from o-w...@gmx.de --- Hello everyone, I would like to point out one aspect that is mentioned in the beginning of this bug as well as in https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=72731 The exported pdf seems to be right in both cases. To me (who doesn't have deep knowlede of LO's structure) that means that the fault results from a component that is not shared between the pdf export, the pdf reader and the graphical display in LO. I would guess that the fonts are shared for everything running on the machine, so the main error shouldn't be in the font file. Instead I would suggest to search in the modules of LO that generate the view in the writer. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 98333] Bringing uniformity to styles shortcuts
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=98333 --- Comment #14 from Yousuf (Jay) Philips--- (In reply to Eike Rathke from comment #11) > Shift+Ctrl+Anything requires two hands to hit. Using that for something > basic and outstanding as the Stylist or Navigator is an un-usability. We have many common shortcut that require two hands to hit that are even more basic than stylist or navigator, e.g. Ctrl + P (Print), Ctrl + O (Open), Ctrl + N (New). On Mac, users have to use two hands to hit any of the Function keys, as they have to press the Fn key as well. > Additionally, both features are something that other office suites don't > offer and that help to organize the document and its formatting, MS Office has both a stylist (http://www.addbalance.com/usersguide/images/stylesFPane2010.gif) and navigator (http://www.dkszone.net/editing-in-ms-word-2010-simplified-with), though not as powerful/extensive as the one found in LO. Both of these tools are useful for those who utilize them. > users of > some other suite don't even know styles or the possibilities the Navigator > offers. Easy accessibility is a key to promote these further. Particular users of all office suites dont know/use styles and having a stylist in LO wont change that behaviour. There are users who use styles (normally more advanced users) and users who dont use styles (normally less advanced users) and that wont ever change unless direct formatting is completely eliminated. In the same way, we have users who may use the Navigator (advanced users) and users who likely wont (non-advanced users). We should make the stylist and navigator available to those who use it, but we should avoid assigning them to shortcut keys that are an OS standard for something else in order to improve LO integrate with those OSes and reduce the learning curve for users. Imagine what users would say if we has assigned Ctrl + Z to anything else but undo. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 98730] UI: bring back the old File Save "action button" as an alternative to the new "split button"
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=98730 --- Comment #19 from Ernest Bywater--- (In reply to Buovjaga from comment #17) > Ernest: would it be enough, if the split button also had a split > highlighting, when you move your mouse over it? Meaning that it would only > highlight the dropdown part, if you are over its hit area and likewise for > the direct Save area. Not really, because it will still require me to transfer my attention the icon. In the past I could use the cursor to move up and save while most of my attention was still on the page. I didn't need to look up, just catch the movement in the corner of my eye, because I set the 'Save File' icon as the one on the far right. If I missed nothing happened, and I'd move the cursor and click again. It got so automatic I rarely missed. But now, I have to give it my full attention to make sure I get it right. I don't want the split option at all. Which is why I asked about making the old code and icon available as an optional one, that way I can set it up to use whichever I want. I figured it would be easy to just put the existing code back in. The number of times I accidentally get the split function is now so often I'm seriously considering removing the 'File Save' icon and use the Menu options to save in future. The split button is annoying the hell out of me. I don't want to go to the large icons to make it work and lose the work area. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
