2016-03-19 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=60268

Hello everyone,

I would like to point out one aspect that is mentioned in the beginning of this
bug as well as in https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=72731
The exported pdf seems to be right in both cases.
To me (who doesn't have deep knowlede of LO's structure) that means that the
fault results from a component that is not shared between the pdf export, the
pdf reader and the graphical display in LO. I would guess that the fonts are
shared for everything running on the machine, so the main error shouldn't be in
the font file. Instead I would suggest to search in the modules of LO that
generate the view in the writer.
Is this correct?

No. The dialog is too _high_, and also in a non-debug build (the Debian

Guys,

Could someone add this enhancement to the software?

All languages names are in the language combobox and I am sure there is a place
from where all developers take the flags.

All one needs to do is to show a flag if a dictionary is available and it has
been selected.

Haven't loaded LO 5.1.1.3 yet as I don't automatically update for minor
changes. However, I have looked at Bug 97725 and it does look very similar
i.e. the Save icon not actually saving. As mentioned previously, I got round
this by double-clicking which saved correctly with the green bar etc.

I have also found that when exiting LO using the File/ Exit LO route (when in
the Opening / Closing screen) this does not work and I have to use red cross in
top RHS to close [This should probably be reported as a separate Bug]

Ok, understood.
Are you on Windows? Can you post a screenshot of your LO Window please?
At least on Linux the icons are not smaller when they have the dropdown (it's
placed next to the icon). Maybe we need to add some spacing in Windows between
the icon and the dropdown.

Hi. I perform what you command me to do. I re-name user profile & problem is
the same.

By the way, please notice that my environment is as following:

- Windows 7 X 64 bit SP1 OS (English USA not Arabic user interface)
- Windows 7 system locate is Arabic (UAE)
- Windows 7 OS input language: is English USA
- LibreOffice version 5.1.1 (fresh release) windows version.
- LibreOffice language setting are as follow:
  - user interface: Arabic (Sudi Arabia)
  - local setting: default - Arabic UAE
  - default language for western documents: default - English USA
  - Complex Text Layout (CTL): default - Arabic (UAE)
  - default direction of text in libreOffice /file, formating, page/ is "from
right to left"

Are these conditions could be related?

Also, you say version 5.2.0.0 alpha !! But I report bug on version 5.1.1.3
Fresh release. So, you have to test bug on version 5.1.1.3 if existing, then
confirm it & that it is fixed in a way or other in version 5.2.0.0 alpha !

I don't know enough to have a comment on what is the right setting. I will say
the expert configuration does return the basic functionality and I'm using it.
However, the icon doesn't change colour or alert in anyway to indicate you
should be saving the file, the way the old one did. Nor does it change colour
to indicate the file is saved, the way the old one did. But I can live with
that. On the other hand, how many users will know enough to find this
configuration change and set it - I doubt many will. I'm very tech savvy, if
out of date, but needed the step by step instructions to do it.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 98333] Bringing uniformity to styles shortcuts

2016-03-19 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=98333

Hi Jay,

(In reply to Yousuf (Jay) Philips from comment #14)

It might be because I use Ctrl+P and Ctr+O quite seldom, or because Ctrl+Shift
asks for a little twist and/combined with the move from my right hand to the
left side of the key board, that for me this has a different weight.

I can't imagine that it is because we get old and grumpy... isn't it, Eike ?

I never liked that styles window, but maybe it is better now. After all.
MsOffice improves too, as they do with a simple version of the Navigator.

Sure.

Maybe indeed for new/basic users, good visibility in the Side bar is more
important, yes.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 98778] New: String to numeric conversion fails when number is formatted as scientific notation

2016-03-19 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=98778

Bug ID: 98778
Summary: String to numeric conversion fails when number is
formatted as scientific notation
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 4.4.7.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: Mac OS X (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: BASIC
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: inde...@sasktel.net

When assigning a string variable containing a number formatted as scientific
notation, to a double variable, the conversion fails and zero is assigned. See
example code below:

Sub Main
 dim d as double
 dim s as string
 s="1.0E-5"
 d=s
msgbox "Value of d is: "+str(d)
End Sub

However, if s is set equal to "0.1" then it works correctly. A workaround
is to use the val() function, but this often requires numerous changes to
legacy code that worked fine in OpenOffice Basic.

I haven't checked any versions earlier than the one listed here (4.4.7.2). So,
I don't know how far back this problem existed.

Thank you for reporting the bug. your illustration look awesome :) however
without clear steps to reproduce it, we cannot track down the origin of the
problem. Please provide a clearer set of step-by-step instructions on how to
reproduce the problem along with a screenshot.

For example I followed these steps in Draw:
1. right click on flowchart from the sidebar
2. chose flowchart

it seems normal to me on LO 5.2.0 alpha OS: Windows 7 and 5.0.5 OS: Ubuntu
15.10.

I have set the bug's status to 'NEEDINFO'. Please change it back to
'UNCONFIRMED' once the requested info is provided.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 92776] UI: Tab names unreadable in GTK3 in Ubuntu

2016-03-19 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=92776

There are two more issues on Ubuntu associated with gtk2-vs-gtk3 behavior.
First is missing global menu and HUD in gtk3. Nonoperability of the global menu
is clearly seen in the screenshot attached to this bug report.
The other is broken scrollbars. It is not seen on the screenshot, but the
current state is that the slider within the modern gtk3-style scrollbars fills
the area of the scrollbar with its color as it moves just like a paint brush.
I don't know if these issues can be considered as part of this bug or should be
considered as separate bugs?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 98730] UI: bring back the old File Save "action button" as an alternative to the new "split button"

2016-03-19 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=98730

I think it wouldn't resolve two issues:
- icon space (he doesn't need the split button functions and me too)
- accidental fast clicking

IMHO the easiest way to solve problem is not to modify the split button, but to
bring back the old button that worked fine.

they can both exist an alternative to each one.

the error was not to create the "split button" but to remove the "action
button"

P.S. is "action button" a proper term to describe the old behaviour which gave
a visual hint about the state of the document (greyed in or greyed out)

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 98333] Bringing uniformity to styles shortcuts

2016-03-19 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=98333

--- Comment #14 from Yousuf (Jay) Philips ---
(In reply to Eike Rathke from comment #11)
> Shift+Ctrl+Anything requires two hands to hit. Using that for something
> basic and outstanding as the Stylist or Navigator is an un-usability.

We have many common shortcut that require two hands to hit that are even more
basic than stylist or navigator, e.g. Ctrl + P (Print), Ctrl + O (Open), Ctrl +
N (New). On Mac, users have to use two hands to hit any of the Function keys,
as they have to press the Fn key as well.

> Additionally, both features are something that other office suites don't
> offer and that help to organize the document and its formatting,

MS Office has both a stylist
(http://www.addbalance.com/usersguide/images/stylesFPane2010.gif) and navigator
(http://www.dkszone.net/editing-in-ms-word-2010-simplified-with), though not as
powerful/extensive as the one found in LO. Both of these tools are useful for
those who utilize them.

> users of
> some other suite don't even know styles or the possibilities the Navigator
> offers. Easy accessibility is a key to promote these further.

Particular users of all office suites dont know/use styles and having a stylist
in LO wont change that behaviour. There are users who use styles (normally more
advanced users) and users who dont use styles (normally less advanced users)
and that wont ever change unless direct formatting is completely eliminated. In
the same way, we have users who may use the Navigator (advanced users) and
users who likely wont (non-advanced users).

We should make the stylist and navigator available to those who use it, but we
should avoid assigning them to shortcut keys that are an OS standard for
something else in order to improve LO integrate with those OSes and reduce the
learning curve for users. Imagine what users would say if we has assigned Ctrl
+ Z to anything else but undo.

also what is "specific calc-tasks" im talking simply opening and saving a file,
saving being by far the absolute worst.

however, many other things are also excruciatingly slow, such as for example
pressing on a column and simply deleting all its contents.

default Shape transition is Plus -- on selection will preview the effect

7. select Circle, the circle transition effect will apply

I disabled the "make the background orange" line like suggested in bug 98419

The orange goes away, but drawing errors remain: the "background" of the
scrollbar starts grey or white (depending on which scrollbar it is) but is
never repainted after the scrollbar went over it, and stays blue with black
streaks; I attach an annotated screenshot, taken after moving the scrollbars a
bit.

I’ve created a new test document “test2”. It’s basically the same like the
previous one, but with justified paragraph alignment. It makes the bahaviour
more obvious.

Note that there are also problems with the horizontal glyph positions in the
first line. In “Lorem”, the glyphs L and o are too narrow. In “eirmod”, i and r
are too narrow, and m, o and d are too wide.

Not really, because it will still require me to transfer my attention the icon.
In the past I could use the cursor to move up and save while most of my
attention was still on the page. I didn't need to look up, just catch the
movement in the corner of my eye, because I set the 'Save File' icon as the one
on the far right. If I missed nothing happened, and I'd move the cursor and
click again. It got so automatic I rarely missed. But now, I have to give it my
full attention to make sure I get it right. I don't want the split option at
all. Which is why I asked about making the old code and icon available as an
optional one, that way I can set it up to use whichever I want. I figured it
would be easy to just put the existing code back in.

The number of times I accidentally get the split function is now so often I'm
seriously considering removing the 'File Save' icon and use the Menu options to
save in future. The split button is annoying the hell out of me. I don't want
to go to the large icons to make it work and lose the work area.

I initially did not create a “savemodified” icon for Human because Ubuntu would
eventually switch to Breeze and was under the impression that Human would be
dropped from LibreOffice.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 98746] New: FORMATTING Writer error while opening Board coming from MS Word

2016-03-19 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=98746

Bug ID: 98746
Summary: FORMATTING Writer error while opening Board coming
from MS Word
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.0.5.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: yves.meil...@gmail.com

Created attachment 123689
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=123689=edit
Report of meeting, containing a boards

While opening a MS Word document, the property "Repeat the title" is fixed to 8
lines (which is the number of lines for this board).
So the board is not correctly displayed, because the first line of the original
board occupies many lines at screen, so it's repeated on each page.
Other lines of the board can't be seen.
The problem is also present in a 4.x version of LO.
See attachment.

The Merida chess font is also a "Symbol Font" with Unicode mappings into the

Chess Leipzig symbol font.

Work around as in https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=98349#c8

I don't know. But, probably not related.
Please read "Step to reproduce" in comment #1.
It has nothing to do with the checkbox.
Even if the checkbox solve the problem, the behavior in comment #1 is a bug
apparently.

Because of this bug, LO5 is unusable in Japan since US letter paper is not
available. In fact, people in Japan including myself continue to use LO4 on
unix systems.

WinDbg analyze log

When I open a certain ODS file (attached) on Linux and save it, even multiple
time, saving works perfectly.

On Windows 7 and 10 however, I had the following issue with aforementioned
file:
- saving once takes significantly longer than on Linux on the same hardware
- saving twice kills the patient.

Since I'm new to this, I thought a stacktrace would be useful, I hope I did
everything right in the attached WinDbg output.
