I'm thinking of a different one (I can recall seeing a screenshot), but this

Bug ID: 102190

   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: All
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal

 Component: LibreOffice
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: grantsro...@gmail.com

In LibreOffice (tested in Writer and Sheets at the very least), the scroll
speed for touch pads is very high, making it very difficult to navigate a
document. I am on Windows 10 and my laptop is a Dell XPS 13 model 9350. When I
use the two finger scroll with the touch pad, LibreOffice is way too sensitive.
Other apps scroll much slower and smoother. Perhaps allow a setting for
adjusting scroll speed. Thank you for the wonderful suite!

I think this might be the same as bug 99927. See my comment there:
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=99927#c3

That bug is actually a bit older, so it might be different, but the symptoms
seem really similar. That one is triggered by changing fonts, too. The
selection area becoming scrambled seems to be a difference, but it might just
be a symptom occuring under certain conditions.
Do you notice any particular significant differences between the symptoms in
the two reports?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 102189] New: Export PDF Allow Duplicate Field Names not working

2016-09-13 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=102189

Bug ID: 102189
Summary: Export PDF Allow Duplicate Field Names not working
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.1.5.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: juergen.eberl...@web.de

Problem description:
I tried to create a PDF form, where you enter some text in one text box, and
several other text boxes get the same text automatically.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Create empty Writer doc.
2. Insert a text box. Copy and paste it a few times. The copied form elements
will all have the same name "text box 1" (or similar, depending on language of
installation).
3. Save doc as PDF form (check "allow duplicate field names").
4. Open the form in a PDF reader and fill it out.
5. Text entered in one text box should be duplicated in all other text boxes,
but it doesn't

Current behavior:
Every text box can be filled with unique text.

Expected behavior:
Every text box should display the same text.

Last worked/checked in:
4.0.1 release

Hi!
Unfortunately it's not possible to tell now how those rows got hidden, because
of a bug, or by accident. If you can reproduce it somehow, please let us know.

If there's nothing else, let's focus this report on a bug that might be partly
responsible for the confusion:
-if rows/columns are hidden in the middle of the spreadsheet, there's a visual
cue (correct),
-if the first few wors/columns are hidden, there's no visual cue (not correct).

It's looked the same since v3.3.0.

Thank you for reporting this issue.
Confirmed in v5.1.5.2, v4.0.0.3 / Ubuntu 16.04.

If anyone's wondering what collapsing mean (like I did), select rows, then
select menu 'Data -> Group and Outline -> Group', then click [-] sign in front
of first grouped row.

In v5.2 there's an additional issue, I'm opening a new report on it, and
setting it as dependency.

I hear 'Header 1 Header' when i jump to the header in Orca 3.20 and 'Header 1
Page Header Edit' in JAWS. Didnt hear anything in NVDA, so it is likely a bug
with them.

There wasnt any notification when returning to the document area, so i guess
that is the only thing presently wrong. Though Orca did say "page down" when i
pressed ctrl+pgdwn to exit the header.

@stuart, @texou, @alex: Any thoughts on this?

@Stuart: Yes it seems i made a mistake as i did it in writer rather than
impress, and i just noticed that in writer if i enable "tagged pdf", only then
will the alt text appear in the pdf. So it is likely that "tagged pdf" option
isnt working correctly in impress.

--- Comment #7 from Yousuf Philips (jay) ---
(In reply to Heiko Tietze from comment #6)
> Disagree, that's what's reported here as an issue.

The reported issue here is that comments appear at the top left of the page and
the solution was to have them appear "on the right side of the pane", which is
equivalent to "completely outside of the page area". In comment 3 you stated
that they should be "at the object's center", which wasnt mentioned before and
doubt is a good idea.

> And when you add
> connecting lines from the comment (wherever placed) to the object you
> struggle with the drawing itself.

I assume comments are similar to collapsible sticky notes in balsamiq, so they
dont need to be connected by lines, but lets here from experts like regina who
likely use the feature and can give their opinion on how and what they are used
for.

Print preview is a read only mode, we would likely need to create uno commands
that work in that mode to change the page orientation. We have the
.uno:Orientation group button that is available in the notebookbar, but it is
only usable in writer and is disabled in print preview mode.

I am organizing bugs that are cross-platform into a main a11y meta bug and
those that are OS specific can stay in their OS specific meta bugs.

Yes i was aware that Orca and other screen readers have mispelt word support
and i was just making suggestions of how it might be able to be fixed, even if
it was temporary until a correct fix was implemented.

--- Comment #12 from Yousuf Philips (jay) ---
So i tested a few docs i had from my compatibility testing days and here is the
change in size.

747.4 KiB -> 3.9 MiB (+433%) [1]
979.5 KiB -> 1.5 MiB (+52%) [2]
515.0 KiB -> 680.3 KiB (+325) [3]
160.6 KiB -> 198.6 KiB [4] (+24)
184.8 KiB -> 385.7 KiB [5] (+109%)
405.7 KiB -> 484.6 KiB (+19%) [6] (a google doc i threw into the mix)

So in half of the cases, the size more than doubles and the other half it less
than doubles, so it all comes down to how much structure the file has and
whether users will complain about their pdfs growing way to much.

I mean to show a similar UI, so something for the panel of styles and formats:

-
|Heading 1|▼|
-

> Dropdowns are by default a collapsed version of
> lists.

For the same reason, I do not understand why it should be different. The
dropdown list is a short list of paragraph stilys to use and select "More
styles ..." open sidebar with the full list of styles. In the arrow on the
right side can be added to the options actually appear in the context menu.

> The suggested single-click activation makes the indicator obsolete

I imagined that by overlaying the pointer over the selections, they were going
highlighting (several menus operate similarly).

Like this: https://cloud.woelkli.com/index.php/s/NCcQJ1sIju2YNTE

I do not think so, for that reason I opened a new improvement report first.

2016-09-13 Thread bugzilla-daemon

(In reply to Cor Nouws from comment #12)
> Selecting objects in the Navigator is with double click.

But not having a certain use case in mind, just for sake of some unneeded
functionality (it violates any guideline for no good reason). We made a
proposal to change the behavior of the navigator in general at
https://design.blog.documentfoundation.org/2016/07/31/how-the-navigator-may-support-object-handling-in-libreoffice-draw/
(the styles list is not the navigator tree, though).

> What do you mean with the last part, drop right click access?

Today, you can modify a style that is not active by right clicking the entry.
With single selection this could still be possible, but likely adds a lot of
coding effort and makes not much sense, workflow wise.

(In reply to Bastián Díaz from comment #13)
> Although it works similar to the current dropdown menu in the
> formatting toolbar (without preview). Would it be possible to unify both
> interfaces?

What do you mean with unify? Dropdowns are by default a collapsed version of
lists. The suggested single-click activation makes the indicator obsolete since
there is no chance to have another selection than the active one. But again, I
think we should aim for a clear and simple workflow and drop unnecessary
functions. And in my opinion the applied vs. selected differentiation is one of
those.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 102163] download.lst shouldn't use md5, but rather at least sha256

2016-09-13 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=102163

That would not only be a change of the gbuild download mechanism, but as
tarballs are shared between different branches of LibreOffice also would
involve either adding symlinks for all tarballs that include the md5sum in the
file name on the download server to have both, md5sum and sha256sum, available,
or continue to use the name that includes the md5sum but have an additional
sha256sum for the content, which might be even more confusing.

I don't get the "useful to use upstream hashes for distros", distros mostly use
the already available system libraries to build LibreOffice, unless those are
too old or too new.

Did you try to play with compatibility options like:
1/ Use OpenOffice.org 1.1 object positioning
2/ Use OpenOffice.org 1.1 text wrapping around objects
in menu Tools > Options > LibreOffice Writer > Compatibility

with both options checked it seems that the offending behavior does not occur.
If I am not wrong, the problem would be in the algorithm for direct positioning
of object, see the help about these compatibility options.

Best regards. JBF

While this is simply a toggle control in the export dialog, so should be simple
to implement. Think it is correct to do as a default setting to produce tagged
PDF by default.

More important but much more work would be to refactor the tagged PDF to
produce PDF/UA compliant PDF (bug 45636).

By the way, and to be clear, Orca has spellcheck support that includes
customizable presentation of the misspelled word, the context of the error, and
the suggestion. So hidden labels and such designed to try to make Orca say what
you think it should is not how to solve this problem. Exposing what is on the
screen (in this case the bold and red text that sighted users see) so that Orca
can do its job as a screen reader and present what is on the screen is the
desired solution.

Sounds good. I had thought so, but did not want to transform LibreOffice in MS
Office. Although it works similar to the current dropdown menu in the
formatting toolbar (without preview). Would it be possible to unify both
interfaces?

Besides the lack of an indicator it is still necessary. For example if you want
to go for some styles before choosing a new (applied style vs selected style).

An example of this is the revamped user interface of Zoho Docs.

Note: Additionally you could add the options "apply" and "update" to the
context menu when you select a style with the right mouse button.

This user profile thumbnail set to last page viewed before closing or saving
affects both--Impress and Draw. Writer and Calc are not affected.

Think one way to resolve this would be an option to always open to the first
slide/page (for Draw) and cache that image--so that optionally on closing the
image of the first slide/page (for Draw) could be written to user profile and
shown on thumbnail view.

Otherwise this is not a regression--it did not exist until we added thumbnail
views to startcenter at 4.2--and later provided thumbnails for non-ODF formats
at 4.3.

Note that a preview thumbnail is not recorded into the ODF document(s)until
they are saved--but the thumbnail of last viewed slide/page for ODF or other
documents are written to the user profile when the document is closed. Caching
the 1st page (or opening page) could be an option--just for writing to the user
profile copy of the thumbnail view.

I thought this was proposed?

Selecting objects in the Navigator is with double click.

What do you mean with the last part, drop right click access?

That type of feature is nice yes.

I do not understand the problem, if you are not happy with the standard number
format, use # ##0 or 0 format instead.
That said the standard format for numbers has the good idea to generally fit in
the default cell width, when the 0 format will give ### if the cell is not wide
enough which is generally the case with big numbers like in your example.

I propose to close this bug report as NotABug.

Best regards. JBF

see the same already in libreoffice 3.3.0.4 - so no regression.

So ideal would be that this is extended?

But not for the first page different from the others.
People use a continuous section to set e.g. new page margins from (next page)
at that point on.
Or do I get this wrong?

But this issue is about export to docx, not about import?
