[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 118735] False #Value! error
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=118735 --- Comment #1 from Mike Kaganski --- Thank you for filing this. First of all: please always file one bug/request per issue. Here, you seem to mention two different issues: 1. A document being marked as modified on load; 2. Formulas with URI functions [1] incorrectly returning #VALUE. I cannot reproduce #2 using Version: 6.1.0.1 (x64) Build ID: 378e26bd4f22a135cef5fa17afd5d4171d8da21a CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 10.0; UI render: default; Locale: ru-RU (ru_RU); Calc: CL. Or, rather, kind of reproduce: when opening the document, I do see those "VALUE"s in columns AW-AZ; but also I see the infobanner telling "Automatic update of external links has been disabled."; and pressing "Enable Content" there, I get the formulas recalculated and #VALUEs becoming normal results. I suspect that the behaviour change here is related to the recent fixes of [2], and this being the correct behaviour, not a bug. I do reproduce issue #1 opening the document. I don't confirm this yet, though, until you decide how to proceed here: either you let it handle the one reproducible; or split it to two; or something else. I set it to NEEDINFO until it is clear which issue to track here. Please set back to UNCONFIRMED when made requested changes. Thanks! Create an empty text document. 2. Type three paragraphs, like this: > First paragraph > Second paragraph > Third paragraph 3. Put cursor at the beginning of the second paragraph (just to the left of "Second"); insert a bookmark (e.g., using menu Insert→Bookmark); let it be named "Bookmark 1" as the default. 4. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 118736] New: (FORMATTING) Lack of offset control in CJK ruby text
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=118736 Bug ID: 118736 Summary: (FORMATTING) Lack of offset control in CJK ruby text Product: LibreOffice Version: unspecified Hardware: All OS: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Writer Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: imyxhu...@gmail.com Description: This was already reported in #44784, which was supposedly focusing on several complaints regarding the implementation of ruby text, and was closed in order to focus on one such complaint. It was recommended that other bugs be filed for specific missing functionality, so here this is. A restatement of the original, for the most part Essentially, many CJK fonts make use of large "leading" metrics in order to leave space for rubies to be rendered on. However, LibreOffice simply positions the rubies above the leading space and as a result the gap between regular text and rubies can be quite large. There is no option to offset the positioning of rubies and render them above the leading space in the characters. This is especially reproducible with fonts like Source Han Sans. The problem cannot be solved by changing line spacing size because this cuts off the Ruby characters. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Enter several lines of Chinese or Japanese text. 2. Add ruby characters to the text using "Format → Asian Phonetic Guide" 3. Change the font to one with large leading metrics, such as Source Han Sans. 4. Observe that the ruby characters can be very far from the characters over which they appear. Actual Results: There is no "offset" setting which allows us to specify an offset closer to (or further away from) the current ruby positioning. Expected Results: An "offset" box should exist either in Asian Phonetic Guide, or preferably in Character Styles so one can set different offsets for different ruby fonts and point sizes. This control will offset the ruby up (away from) or down (towards) the Japanese text. A great degree of control (up to 72 points, I'd suspect) of freedom is required for Japanese typesetting of any kind. Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: Heh, I copied a lot of that from the original bug. Hope you don't mind. If you feel that #44784 was wrongly closed, then please do mark this as a duplicate. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 118734] New: bookmarks disappear when document closed (after saving)
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=118734 Bug ID: 118734 Summary: bookmarks disappear when document closed (after saving) Product: LibreOffice Version: 5.4.6.2 release Hardware: All OS: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Writer Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: davelovel...@gmail.com OK, I have a pretty large document, several in fact, hundreds of pages each, so I need lots of bookmarks. Several times running, I entered a lot of them. They are there, and they work. Then I save the document, and when I open it again, almost all of them are gone. I think I have identified the circumstance which causes this. I also have lots of comments. Most of the places I want bookmarks--significant places in my documents--I have a block of text with a comment attached. To get those, I selected the block of text, then used ctl-alt-C to pop up a (marginal) comment, and type in the text. Well, I want the bookmarks to be there at the beginning of that block of text, or sometimes at a particular point inside the block. Not a paragraph later (or twenty paragraphs later, sometimes), after the end of the block. But the bookmarks that disappear are the ones that are in those positions. Or, it seems after some testing, anywhere inside the commented block of text. The bookmarks are there, and I can use them to navigate--until I close and reopen the document! It was suggested to me that they might still be there, just hidden. I looked in the help (and also googled, uselessly), and found the statement that I can display hidden text this way: "Enable the check mark at View - Hidden Paragraphs". There is no Hidden Paragraphs under View. I'm pretty sure this is a red herring, anyway, because the help talks about variables I used to define the condition for hiding the text, and I didn't do anything like that (and don't understand the explanation of how to do it, either). Help text doesn't match the program. though. I did find, under Tools - Options - Formatting Aids, three check boxes relating to Hidden Text or Hidden Paragraphs. All of them are now checked, and this makes no difference that I can see. I think those are a red herring, too. I think this is a bug in LibreOffice. I'd love to be wrong, and find out that there's some simple setting I'm missing. I'm trying to be polite, but I've wasted many, many hours on this--first, in entering and reentering bookmarks, second on trying to figure out what the problem is. I find it hard to believe that no one else has observed this, but it seems not. Am I really the only one who tries to use both bookmarks and comments extensively? At the moment, I'm editing on a Fedora system, and the About says: Version: 5.4.6.2 Build ID: 5.4.6.2-3.fc27 CPU threads: 1; OS: Linux 4.15; UI render: default; VCL: gtk2; Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); Calc: group I move the file back and forth (sneakernet using a flash drive) to a Windows 10 system, also running 5 (and I am pretty sure it's also 5.4). The behavior is the same on both systems, so it doesn't look like and OS issue. Which characters did you use? It crashed with this file name Medtronics 1/1/2018 to 7/12/2018.ods When I restarted it said it would recover the data but it hung and was not responding for at least 30 minutes. I forced the application to quit and it restarted from the dock and recovered the data. I decided to save the data as an xls for distribution and again as ods for my use. When I attempted to save it this time it had no problem with this file name Medtronics 1-1-2018 to 7-12-2018.xls and then the second save as Medtronics 1-1-2018 to 7-12-2018.ods. I then closed the application. As an aside. When I tried to reopen the file, a few hours later, in preparation for this reply I tried double-clicking on it in a Finder window. LibreOffice failed to launch and I then did launch it by clicking on the application alias in the dock. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 98620] FILESAVE: DOCX - Error in paragraph orientation after converting in a RTL user locale
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=98620 Justin L changed: What|Removed |Added OS|Windows (All) |All Assignee|libreoffice-b...@lists.free |jl...@mail.com |desktop.org | Version|5.1.1.3 release |Inherited From OOo Status|NEW |ASSIGNED --- Comment #27 from Justin L --- The easy fix for this example document would be to set the default paragraph style to a specific format instead of "use superordinate object settings". For DOCX, I think the RTL problem is because it is taking the locale (environment) setting and applying it to each paragraph: > If a given para is using the FRMDIR_ENVIRONMENT direction we > cannot export that, its its ltr then that's ok as thats word's > default. Otherwise we must add a RTL attribute to our export list added pre-docx format in 2002. https://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?id=2165e74081cd71d862b922546da8af96fc04b12c Also, the ParaAdjust() function takes it's cue from the environment: > if ( nDir == FRMDIR_ENVIRONMENT ) > nDir = GetExport( ).GetDefaultFrameDirection( ); from original 2010 commit "Some fixes for exporting OOXML docx files" https://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?id=27b1a18b92366ace12bb54c3e21904e2eb380a18 and this detail-less 2007 commit also looks important: https://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?id=51099bf6493a7f24990da534c41f314c4624b0a8 So, a potential "fix" to make this act more like the .doc format is https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/57356 tdf#98620 RTL: reduce environment effect on loading docx/rtf -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

Mike Kaganski Perhaps I wasn't clear but your suggestion doesn't solve my problem. Your suggestion makes sense only IF the problem is one where data from the same source is being re-examined again and again. It fails when the data is coming from different sources. This seldom the case for me. I am creating new spreadsheets for one or two analysis and then working with an entirely new data set. This can happen ten or fifteen times a day. The problem I was looking to solve was some of the time the data has a range of column labels sometimes not. Which means when there are labels in the data I have to go to the window (see the screenshot I included) and select the option that lets LibreOffice know how to address the top row. I have to do it every freaking time the data has a set of labels which is most of the time. The default is the opposite of what I need. If I could override the defaults for the window in the preferences I could create my own defaults for the data and not have to futz with those options every time I import or paste a new sheet into the file. The problem is not unique to that specific option which is why being able to set up preferences which actually allow you to control the options in all these windows would be a boon to mankind. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
