[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 112876] Make use of scroll lock for navigation configurable (it conflicts with system use as keyboard layout indicator)

This feature whose only purpose seems to be to mimic Excel conflicts with both
software and hardware in the real world. The comments here have mentioned some
software it conflicts with. In terms of hardware, the popular Cooler Master
CMStorm keyboard uses the scroll lock key to turn the backlight on and off. The
keyboard is such that you need to have the backlight on, day or night, to see
the key labels. This means that if you use LibreOffice you're either stuck in
the bizarro scroll mode, meaning you can't use the keyboard to move around a
spreadsheet, or you have to turn off the backlight, meaning you can't see the
labels on your keys.

That said, using the latest LibreOffice, 6.1.0.3, in OpenSUSE Tumbleweed, and a
CMStorm keyboard, the scrolling no longer occurs. I assumed LibreOffice turned
it off until I found this page. If LibreOffice didn't make the change, I wonder
if OpenSUSE did? Very weird.

** Please read this message in its entirety before responding **

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 65353] FILESAVE: LibreOffice embeds fonts defined in styles (e.g. CJK and CTL fonts) but arent used in the document

2018-08-20 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=65353

Hmm. I tried a simple, one font document of some Awami text and said just to
only include fonts used in documents, and the resulting .odt contained:
"Courier New" (4 faces), Liberation Mono (4 faces), Liberation Serif (4 faces),
Tahoma (1 face) in addition to the intended Awami (1 face).

It's tricky because the character formatting for that one line of text says:
Western Font = Awami Nastaliq, Asian = Courier New and CTL = Awami Nastaliq
Beta 3 (which is referenced by the .odt but not included, perhaps because the
font has gone away). So perhaps the Courier New inclusion makes sense. Not so
sure about the Liberation and Tahoma, though. It does look like these fonts are
referenced by the default styles.

The question is whether fonts for unused styles should be included. I would
argue that they not be included. Even a basic document of simply saying: new
document, then select a font and type some text, ends up with quite a bit of
cruft. Yes this is a distinct improvement over including all the system fonts.
But it's still quite a big file.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 119395] New: Default Page Margins - Revisited

2018-08-20 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=119395

Bug ID: 119395
Summary: Default Page Margins - Revisited
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: mkf...@gmail.com

I know there is another bug with this that is set to "RESOLVED WORKSFORME", but
there is something that I have not seen considered in the previous discussion,
and this is this:

When one downloads LibreOffice / LibreWriter in the United States, the default
margin settings are .79 " all around. As we all know, this is simply a
conversion of 2cm, which is the default that was created for A4.

You may argue that 2cm creates a good line-length on A4 paper - fine. But 8.5 x
11 is significantly wider than A4, and so has a significantly longer
line-length that on A4 with the same margins.

What I'm saying is that margin width is really about line-length. What should
be done is this: Whatever the decision about default *line-length*, that
decision should apply to both 8.5 x 11 and A4.

In other words, if you think 2cm on A4 makes a good default line-length, then
find out what creates *the same line-length on 8.5 x 11*, and use THAT margin
on 8.5 x 11 - don't just convert the A4 margin to 8.5 x 11. Because doing so is
simply incorrect.

Transitions on slides are not displaying.

For example some slides are set-up to display certain boxes when you click on a

That's odd, as I can reproduce this also under Windows and Linux. Anyway, I
have a patch that fixes this for Linux, but not sure it will fully solve the
problem elsewhere. Need to check.

Interestingly I've had this issue recently on my Ubuntu LO 6.0.X series and

Tried to replicate on Win10 LO 6.1.0.3 and it saved just fine. Tried multiple

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 119393] New: Draw - SVG Export of rotated textbox causes multiple lines of text to be displayed on top of each other.

2018-08-20 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=119393

Bug ID: 119393
Summary: Draw - SVG Export of rotated textbox causes multiple
lines of text to be displayed on top of each other.
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Draw
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: w...@caribou.me.uk

Description:
A canvas featuring SVG Export of text in a rotated textbox can be created.
When exported as a gif/odg this is saved corerectly. Exporting as svg causes
any multiple lines of text in a rotated textbox to be displayed on top of each
other.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create a draw canvas
2. Create a text box
3. Enter a line of text and shrink box so it wraps to multiple lines
4. Rotate box (e.g. by 90 degrees)
5. Export as svg

Actual Results:
Canvas is exported but all lines of text are displayed on top of each other.

Expected Results:
Canvas is exported with text box and looks as per the canvas in Draw

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

In a form the Memo-fields were not available for a tablecontrol. So the form
only loads the content of one field, not of 47 rows or how much a table will
load to the cache.

If the result is the same with
Tools > SQL: SELECT * FROM "OBJECTS"
we can't only say it is a problem of tables and queries in the GUI.

With Tools > SQL I have to wait a long time before the content of the query
will be shown. It works - but very slow ...

   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.0.6.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium

  Reporter: rb.hensc...@t-online.de

Created attachment 144335
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=144335=edit
File to reproduce the problem

Open the attached document. It has eight user defined layers, which have all
possible combinations of visible/printable/locked. They are named accordingly
to make the properties more obvious. The layer "VP-" is visible, printable, not
locked, for example. Besides that the tab-bar shows the status of that
properties. These properties can be toggled by shortcuts.

visible black, not visible blue, toggle Shift
printable normal, not printable underline, toggle Ctrl+Shift
locked italic, not locked upright, toggle Ctrl

Click on tab "V--" to make it the active layer.
Rightclick > Insert Layer
Name the new layer "NewV--" and set its properties to visible, not printable,
not locked. OK.

Notice, that the new layer is inserted after "V--" and the tab has the
appearance black+underline+upright, which is correct.

Save the document and reopen it.
Notice, that the properties are assigned to the layers as if the new layer has
been inserted at the end of the tab-bar. The error is in the saved document. I
don't know yet, where in the inserting process the wrong assignment happens.

handle w:gridBefore by faking cells (fdo#38414)

Docx's w:gridBefore means that there should be this given space in the table
grid before any cells come. But writer requires tables to be rectangular, so
the space needs to be faked using cells without border. So far so good, but
now reality in the form of the retarded overdesigned writerfilter comes.
The internal representation of table data (and not just one actually) is
pretty non-obvious and hard to modify, seems to be modelled just to follow
the parser data the way it comes. Moreover dmapper gets notified of
w:gridBefore
only after cells in the row have been already processed. So after futile
attempts
to add the fake cells somehow in dmapper I've eventually given up and hacked up
input handling to fake input as if the fake cells were actually there (which
was tedious to find out as well, but at least it's reasonably doable).

Sorry, my test file contains draft slides, only the first slide is relevant.

On my linux mint 19 system, gstreamer1.0-gtk3 was not installed. Libreoffice
succeed to play the video, but in full screen only.

With gstreamer1.0-gtk3 , the size and position of video is correct, with one
little flickering moment at the beginning.
The video color transition seems to be smooth as expected.

Hello!
Tried open that old file in LO 6.1.0.3 (windows 7 32bit vs Kubuntu 18.04
appimage). Nothing changed! The bug is still there.
If you change font from Times New Roman to Liberation Sans it is still
different in Windows and Linux.

edit - forget the line about what the form wizard does. It should just say if

bingo, that is an excellent databases as an example.

BTW; In that particular case it gets worse, for me here anyways, when the
database is moved into firebird; once converted the 6.2 builds are worse
performance than the 6.1 and prior releases. IN fact it got worse of late: with
the lastest build: Opening the 'objects' table triggers multiple screen updates
in the Table View window and have ended up killing Libreoffice because it never
seems to finish *IF* I try to scroll the tablecontrol. (I didn't try the HSQL
version of the file today)

> Opening a table ("OBJECTS") is

The delay does not appear to be in the creation of the result set, which you
can see if you base a form off the query definition. The new form wizard for
instance does not include CLOB fields in a tablecontrol by default, you can of
course use a add a sub-form in the wizard based on the same querydef and put
the first of the CLOB fields on the form. In this configuration, even if you
add two more text controls for the other two CLOB fields, the form will open up
quick as can be and the tablecontrol is not delayed in any way as you scroll
through it. The text controls change contents as you do.

It appears the real problem is with how the table control is pulling data for
the clob fields when configured to display them.

The RFE here is to refactor the tablecontrol to address the performance when
CLOB fields are included. (there could be a sister issue about BLOB fields, but
seemed better to keep them separate)

Dear all,

thanx for examining my request! This kind of sorting is explicitly described in
the Writer-help, so I assume that the function was already implemented earlier
or at least already planned. In German the text is as follows:

"Schlüsseltyp -
Wählen Sie "numerisch", wenn Sie Zahlen nach ihrem Betrag sortieren möchten,
beispielsweise 1, 2, 12. Wählen Sie "alphanumerisch", wenn Sie Zahlen nach
Zeichencode sortieren möchten, beispielsweise 1, 12, 2."
