https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=120039 Bug ID: 120039 Summary: Shift+F3 not working as expected: Changing other capitals than selected Product: LibreOffice Version: 6.1.0.3 release Hardware: All OS: Linux (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Writer Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: pibar...@gmail.com Description: Shift+F3 is a very handly way to make capital of the first sentence's letter or all of them. In LO past versions, it was just select the word, or the sentence and click the shortcut and it's done and it toggles capital first letter, all or none of them. I used to use it a lot, writing a text. Now, in LO 6.1.* versions, I select the words in the sentence that I want to capitalize, but after the shortcut press, it capitalize the selected, but toggles other letter out of the selection, which is the behavior not expected, turning the shorcut unable to use. Since LO 6.1.0. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Mark a word in a sentence of a paragraph, specially if it has other capitals other than the selection you made. 2.Press shift+F3 three times. 3. See what happens with the word with capitals that's out of the karked word that you want to change (that's the only word that must be altered) Actual Results: Selected word and those ones out of the selection will be altered with the shortcut. Expected Results: The marked word or sentence will change with sequential presses of the shorcut, as well as other capitalized words in the sentence not marked or in the paragraph, which is not the behavior expected. Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: Yes Additional Info: Only the word or letter selected must be altered with shortcut, not those ones not selelected or marked. Now, "Above" is default. "Above" is default from Bug 40457 and Bug 115032. > Please program LibreOffice to default caption position to last used. This is WontFix. > I did that and it only worked for figure captions, not for table captions. Please explain what you did. I see that: - if we turn on Tools => Options => LibreOffice Writer => Auto Caption - Add Caption Automatically for Writer Table and set to Below or change later to Above, than it works. - but we cannot set to Below and turn off Add Caption Automatically and keep Below (I guess that's what you noticed). Previously we could change default and turn off Add Caption Automatically and see it in options right but that still wouldn't work. At least with 6.0 beta. This is, of course, not a big deal.. and the logic behind it is clear also... "what do you want to create?" still... many people explore the applications NOT by using it but by trying them... playing around... tasting the logic of the workflow it offers... etc. so, it can easily happen that someone will go like "what can I create?"... and check the list... and if she or he sees "master document" for the first time, s/he might think of it as a type of a document, which technically is true... although not true from the aspect of using it... the list "... HTML Document, XML Form Document, Master Document ..." is not a logical "series", cause a MD is something different... in terms of that what you create.. cause it is NOT a document but a "project"... so to speak... in any case, if there was a separator above and below Master Document, it would be already better... But I think putting it together with Document Templates, to the bottom, would be an even better option... not to mention putting it right below Text document :) another option could be, of course, to mark Master Document like "* Master Document", for example, or "_Master_Document_"... so as to help the intuitive use and understanding of the different document formats... I repeat, this works totally WELL already... I'm only suggesting this addition to help those who are new and are intuitively exploring LO-W... cause if she or he sees MD distinguished from other doc types, s/he'll right away have an idea of what it could be... "a document of documents", so to speak.. as opposed to "yet another type of document"... thank you for developing LO !! :) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

But you can customize it yourself. > > The Navigator is also not really suited for this so what remains, in my > opinion, is to discuss a different position in the main menu. Why? I mean, why either/or? What is the logic behind that? why EITHER put it somewhere else in the menu (unless someone makes a comment stating it's not necessary in his opinion :) ) OR put it in the context menu? It is widely agreed, I suppose, that context menu is NOT for "promoting" functions... BUT then, what is it for? I would say -- and I firmly believe that it makes sense -- that the context menu is to make SUCH functionalities available "at hand" .. which belong to the "context"... what the user is working on/with whatever... so, in our case, you are using the NAVIGATOR pane... you are viewing the OUTLINE of a document... in this "context" the following functions are listed: OUTLINE LEVEL DRAG MODE DISPLAY now, is it really a far off concept to put "COPY OUTLINE" in this list? Isn't it likely that someone wants to copy it? since the birth of text editors and PCs in general, people have been accustomed to the practice that whatever is before them, text or image, they can COPY it... SO, as a matter of fact, this might be made possible even directly... (which, for sure would be way bigger work to do, and would affect lots of other things) - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - PS: I repeat.. it works for me... I can handle such super-minor hardship so easily that I don't even recognize it... I will find "copy outline" even if it is hidden in EDIT / Object, seriously... all I need to do is make one FLAG in my mind, so as to remember how to approach this situation, and this FLAG will be "not logical".. and from then on it will work... I'll find it... the question that "remains" is only how many of 1 000 000 LOW users will actually use this functionality... and how many of us would, were they given an easy access to this functionality (which already exist!!) thank you for developing LO-W !! -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
