[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 140128] EDITING: Swiss German Keyboard on Mac types "‹" instead of "'" in presentation notes

2021-02-03 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=140128

Thank you very much @V_Stuart_Foote, that helped.

I still think this is a bug as

a) I can't write can't, and I should be able to, as the apostrophe is not in a
start quote position.

b) it works differently on slides and on notes in the same presentation

c) ‹is the single start quote for Swiss French, not for Swiss German.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 139854] Several untranslated Options in View Menu - LO Writer 7.1 RC2 - Spanish Version.

2021-02-03 Thread bugzilla-daemon

Created attachment 169462
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=169462=edit
Discrepancy in translations of the same string in different versions of
LibreOffice.

Adolfo:
Now when LO 7.1 has been released, a new problem arrives for this bug. I see a
disagreement, discrepancy or conflict between the translation that had been
established for the chain "Show Tracked Changes" in LO 7.0.4, in Spanish, and
the translation that you decided, for that same chain, in LO 7.1 in Spanish. In
the screenshots that I am attaching today February-4-2021, we can see those
discrepancies.

With my eyes as a common user (of the Spanish versions) I keep thinking and
insisting that the translation that had been fixed in LO 7.0.4. in Spanish,
whose screenshot I attached in comments 3 and 7, should be preserved. So, for
LO 7.1 a new translation was not needed for that string ("Show Tracked
Changes") but rather to return to the translation that existed in previous
versions because that translation was correctly adequate.

I confess that even today I still Without understanding why, when a new version
of LibreOffice comes to light, Weblate so repeatedly ignores the translations
that had previously been fixed for certain strings, menus, submenus, icons,
etc. Pardon my ignorance but I don't understand that.

I can't confirm a change in text direction

I'm not sure about Font colour, outline and shadow (for example I couldn't see,
that shadow is enabled in odt-file, but I'm not an expert in 3D-Charts.

So let's reduce this bug to the percentage-problem. If possible, retest with LO
7.1.0.3 and open a separate bug, if the problems still remain.

Hmm, you have a point (I didn't read the description earlier). This report has
one commit (comment 21) for implementing a suggestion from the analyser, but
that's it. So perhaps this is indeed solved in line with the original intent.

The file gas in its tables:

We fail to handle missing "w" attribute of w:gridCol. It should be handled as
if there's no saved grid width information, while we handle it as explicit
zero-width column.

(Aside: then why putting it into the file? This doesn't change the fact that
this is still a bug.)

Dear tagishsimon,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:
https://kiwiirc.com/nextclient/irc.freenode.net/#libreoffice-qa

afaict, :uno:SetOutline can only be used on a toolbar.

Customizing it into a menu or shortcut key did not give any obvious effect.

Could consider hiding this control from Customize.

It is already included as a (non-visible) option in the Formatting bar, so it
could be made available on a toolbar. And it is always available in the
Bullets and Numbering dialog.

I can reproduce in:

Version: 7.1.0.3 / LibreOffice Community

But should this be a duplicate of Bug 101513 ? I like that your bug report,
Luca, is more specific to one of the remaining issues...

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 136584] Export Selection crops part of the image

2021-02-03 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=136584

--- Comment #7 from nick.parla...@cs.stanford.edu ---
This bug is still a problem for me.

As a workaround, maybe of interest to the OP .. export selection as SVG does
not appear to have this problem. The browsers can render SVG natively, so it
really works even a little better than PNG.

I'd prefer to stay in LibreOffice, but Inkscape has the ability to save/edit
SVGs itself, so that's a possible workflow for creating and editing art files
directly without an export step.

Bug ID: 140140
Summary: WRITER Notebookbar configuration window allows for
drag and drop, but this has no effect and is reverted
once OK is pressed
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.4.3.2 release

OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: lucadibonasut...@gmail.com

Description:
When in the Notebookbar configuration window in writer, it is possible to drag
an icon and change it's position in the configuration list, even across
separators. However, this has no effect on the appearance of the Notebookbar,
and when the configuration window is reopened, the change is reverted

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open the Notebookbar configuration window
(Menubar>view>toolbars>customise>Notebookbar)
2.Select and drag an icon or text up or down
3.Press OK to apply changes

Actual Results:
No change in position of icons in notebookbar

Expected Results:
Either: drag and drop should not be possible in the first place
Or: icons should change positions to where they moved to

Open the file, save as "Excel 2007-365 (.xlsx)" format. Close and open the

Try a 7.0.4.2 release or a 7.1.0.3 prerelease, or against current master/7.2.0

This is otherwise a => WF against OpenGL drivers.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 140138] New: On export to SVG font substituted if OpenType features used

2021-02-03 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=140138

Bug ID: 140138
Summary: On export to SVG font substituted if OpenType features
used
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.4.4.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Draw
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: rgb.m...@gmail.com

Created attachment 169457
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=169457=edit
Sample SVG file

Suppose you create a drawing and associate some text to it. If you apply
OpenType substitution tables to the text and export to SVG, the font is ignored
and a substitution used, breaking the formatting. Notice that OpenType tags
work within Draw, it's the export that fails.

Problem is present in 6.4 but also in 7.1

The attached SVG file was created with Draw. The first line in the left box was
created using

Libertinus Serif:smcp

as font. The third line was created selecting the word Superscript and applying

Libertinus Serif:sups

as font to it. The right box was created with normal "character effects."

PDF export works as intended.

I'll be doing a system update then, so it's probably not worth my time to

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 139296] scrolling document canvas down & up can cause a line of text to "tear" with loss of registration, it clears when the line moves out of view far enough or view passes to

2021-02-03 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=139296

--- Comment #52 from spokanemagn...@gmail.com ---
This may be it! I know I’ve said this before, but the problem with
troubleshooting a system as large and complex as LibreOffice Writer is that it
has so many interconnected features (some necessary, some just bells and
whistles) that it makes seeing the forest for the trees extremely difficult,
especially for a newcomer to the product like myself.

I now suspect that the cause of the text tearing issue is two-fold, one
relating to a feature of the product I did not like at all upon first using the
product—that being the sidebar, and the other regarding a feature that I wrote
a bug report on earlier—that being the fact that the so‑called Smooth Scroll
feature works exactly opposite of what the name implies (which is to say that
by selecting that checkbox the text scrolls in a somewhat jerky manner and
deselecting it makes for somewhat smoother scrolling).

How I came to this conclusion. A replier to this thread attached a read-only
document that did not exhibit the text tearing issue. Another replier, or
perhaps the same one, mentioned earlier that he wrote either the help or user
guides for LibreOffice and verified that the text tearing issue happened all
the time and noticed that the problem only seemed to occur after editing a
document.

So, what I did last night was first spend an hour playing with one long,
heavily formatted document that I could get to exhibit the text tearing problem
quite frequently by using the up/down vertical scroll bars buttons. I then
selected the so-called Smooth Scroll option, and that combination made the
document exhibit the text tearing issue 100% of the time (you might have to
scroll, stop, scroll some more before noticing the problem, but it was 100%
repeatable at some point scrolling through the document). It did not make any
difference if I did any editing or not, whether I had the sidebar displayed or
not (although I had it open and was using it earlier), or what the zoom factor
was (as long as it was over 100% (see earlier comment about Optimal view).

I then hid the sidebar, closed the document, and finally closed Writer. I then
immediately re‑opened Writer and the document I had been using. I spent the
next two hours scrolling every which way (scroll bar up/down arrows, scroll bar
handle, mouse wheel, and touch pad) and never once had a repeat of the text
tearing—not even minimal tearing.

This morning I spent another couple hours to verify my findings. As long as I
never open the sidebar and did not select the so-called Smooth Scroll feature,
no problem. However, if I did turn on the Smooth Scroll, I noticed that
although I never observed any perceptible text tearing, what I did notice was
that when I clicked on the Toggle Automatic Spell Checking that there would, on
occasion, be a noticeable redrawing of the page, albeit ever so slight
(changing the line spacing and/or text size just enough to see an overall shift
in the line placements on the page, whereas with the Smooth Scroll option
deselected, this does not seem to ever happen (the display is rock solid),
although that could simply be due to it being an extremely rare occurrence). I
did, however, notice some text tearing (on very rare occasions) on the line
immediately above the highlighted word I was going to edit, but considering how
much worse and repeatable the text tearing issue became, especially in
combination with using the sidebar, I think it is definitely worth pursuing.

So, the culprit seems to be two-fold, with the factors being the sidebar with
an assist from the Smooth Scroll feature (I still have no idea why anyone would
ever want the scrolling not to be smooth, but I am grateful in this case that I
can turn it off to get the product to work as expected…or at least to approach
that goal). So, this is about as far as I can go with this. I've spent
countless hours narrowing this down, complicated by the steep learning curve of
getting familiar with LibreOffice Writer. It’s now up to an experienced
programmer to delve into this and hopefully fix it.

Taking a look at https://slackware.pkgs.org/14.2/slackware-x86_64/, it seems
Slackware uses gtk+3-3.18.9-x86_64-1.txz so 3.18
and according to https://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/system-requirements/, you
need gtk3 3.18
=> so it should be ok at least for 7.0 branch.

In the error you quote, we see the use of
gtk_widget_path_iter_set_object_name()

According to
https://developer.gnome.org/gtk3/stable/gtk3-GtkWidgetPath.html#gtk-widget-path-iter-set-object-name,
gtk_widget_path_iter_set_object_name () is from gtk3 3.20

Digging a bit more LO 7.1 needs gtk3 3.20 min: see
http://document-foundation-mail-archive.969070.n3.nabble.com/raise-min-version-of-gtk-gt-3-20-tt4288742.html

If you can upgrade gtk3 version, you can try to workaround this by using:
"export SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gen && soffice" (for generic rendering)
or
"export SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=kf5 && soffice" (for Kde Framework 5 rendering)

Meanwhile, let's put this one as NOTABUG

Explanation

Hi!

we often want, for example when we write a book, to perform several searches
with the same search term at different moments.

No new AI thing, when you develop the the drop down the used terms are
memorized within the same writing session, it's already working this way;
please watch my screenshots.

We must click the arrow on the right, it should be much more convenient to
having the dropdown developed by clicking inside the dropdown menu.

Again, kindly please, make the search window resizeable, it's pure UX...

Good news everyone, seems that Florian just stumbled upon what is causing the
issues:

* the bug occurs if you configure finder to show all file extensions

so that also is the simple workaround: To install the languagepack disable the
setting to show all suffixes (you can reenable it after installing the language
pack)

That all explains why it is reproducible for some, esp. people in QA, but not
as widespread of a problem...
