LO 7.4 RC2 arrived without a fix for this. There doesn't seem to be a fix for
this anytime soon.

On previous occasions, with similar translation errors, we had the help of

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 150240] New: Update the installation wizard’s Liberation font version to 2.1.5

2022-08-02 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=150240

Bug ID: 150240
Summary: Update the installation wizard’s Liberation font
version to 2.1.5
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 3.3.0 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Installation
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: kim.bas...@internode.on.net

Description:
The version of the Liberation fonts installed by the installation wizard is out
of date, and on Windows systems the wizard overwrites any existing version,
even if newer. The font version installed by the wizard should therefore be
updated to the current version, 2.1.5.
Alternatively, the wizard could give the user the option to not install fonts
at all, or to not overwrite existing fonts.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install the current version of the Liberation fonts from
https://github.com/liberationfonts/liberation-fonts/releases/tag/2.1.5
2. Run the LibreOffice installation wizard
3. Check the installed version of the Liberation fonts

Actual Results:
The current font version has been overwritten with version 2.1.4.

Expected Results:
The current version of the font, 2.1.5, should be installed (or left alone).

Reproducible: Always

Yes, my computer is connected to a server which is then connected to the
internet. There is no proxy running.

I'm curious to understand how that would affect the local installed version of
LO on my MBP. LO shouldn't be checking the internet except to check the
version and if an update is available when it starts. I do get a notice when
an update is available. But, I don't think it should be going to the internet
every time I open a file.

But my privacy thoughts aside, version 7.2 didn't have this issue. My server
and network have had no changes except for the typical virus updates and
automated blocking of potential intruders. The operation of the server and
network is as before and should have no influence in my case.

I hope this is helpful.

I'm not going to change my opinion based in what you like or not, looks to me
your comments a bit presumptuous from your side.

You have set up yourself the bug as 'NEW', what is absolutely not fine, other
one should do it.
In 'Blocks' field, you can see it is connected to 'Shortcuts-Accelerators' bug.

Now, if you can't solve it yourself, you must wait for a dev tanking care of
it.

Selecting whole column to copy data, by accident, freeze - how to hard limit
numbers of rows when running calc?

It is the 2nd process that i am driven to do reset due to such accidents.
By accident, i select the whole row, and content is populated until the end.
However, my system has not so many resources, and hungs.

I would like PERMANTLY to limit the number of rows that i can manipulate in
each running of Libre calc in order to minimize the risk for hungs.

How i can to do that?
I can hide rows permantly for each run?

-

ps 1. you may put a warning (as an option) to prohibit someone to do such
nonsenses.
If it is able libre calc to precalcualate time / resources needed and exceed in
large available resources.. then such warning must be displayed.

ps 2. I am not able to stop the process on the fly.
You must employ such method for a user to be able to stop immediatelly any
calculation on the fly. I pressed as a maniac ESC before hungs but nothing

Note that I think most users dont like reseting their machine. Me too.

> if these 3 went to the Formatting menu, all would be well :)

No, it would not be well, because they're not aspects of formatting. But it's
true that many items on the tools menu aren't document-specific. The thing is,
it's not just these three. We have:

* Macros
* Protect Document
* Update
* Language

which are also per-document.

> Even better it would be if they went to Styles...

Doesn't fit there either.

> I'm not sure, but Tools is sort of misleading..

It's at least less misleading than Styles or Formatting :-(

Suggest resolve as WONTFIX - although other suggestions about splitting up
Tools are at least worth listening to IMHO.

If I:

1. Create a new Writer document
2. Go to Tools | Line Numbering
3. Enable "Show Numbering"
4. Enter a few lines of text

then nothing happens!

Now, yes, if you start the fifth line of text, you see the "5"; but what if you
have less?

Users who are just using this feature for the first time may well be confused.

I suggest either some kind of pop-up dialog / tooltip / whatever be used to
notify the user of what's going on, or alternatively, that the default interval
be changed to 1 line - in which case the user will immediately see the
numbering; and if they want numbering at intervals, they can just change the
settings.

This is possible with HSQLDB:
ALTER TABLE "old_name" RENAME TO "new_name";
But it is impossible in Firebird 3.0.
Only renaming of columns is allowed there.
So you have to copy the table, paste it and set a new name for it.

Image of observed behaviour

Two issues that I suspect are connected.

New file.
Define multi-column section with separator line defined at 50% (top or bottom -
doesn't matter). Observe that the section is created correctly.

Save and exit.

Load file

The previously defined section now extends to 100% - not 50% as specified. Edit
section. Number of columns is retained, BUT the seperator line is set to
'None'.

The code does create a document, and it is returned from execute(). The result
of the execute depends on the OutputType, and in a boolean indicating success,
except for css.text.MailMergeType.SHELL, in which case it returns a
XTextDocument.

Try using

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 150206] FILESAVE as RTF in Writer is given wrong fcharset in the standard font

2022-08-02 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=150206

Re comments 1,2,4:
editing the RTF to change an 'o' to an 'ö' (o-unlaut) should be done by
copy-and-paste of the o-umlaut over the 'o', or by direct keying (on my Ubuntu,
Magic+o," - my Magic key in AltGr), not by entering \u246\'3f . Just thought
I'd better make sure!

For the font BookAntiqua, to accord with the RTF-Specification, the correct
font entry should include \fcharset1, NOT \fcharset128. The PRQ entry should
probably be \fprq2, like the other Roman entries - but at least it hasn't been
set to \fprq1, which would be positively wrong.

It looks (from LO Git) as though LO uses internal XML font tables, probably
inherited unchanged from OOo, rather than interrogating the font on the system.
I have looked for such a table on my system, but haven't found one, so I
assume that it's compiled-in? If I'm right, then to make LO consistent with
the RTF Specification, the entry for Book Antiqua should be updated.

The current font entry in RTF export does not just produce an unstable file,
but does so because it does not conform to the specification.

(The use of an internal table would also explain why TeX-Gyre_Pagella is given
such a wrong entry in the fonttbl - I can't find any mention of Pagella on LO
Git.)

If that (hypothesised) LO internal font table is on the compiled system and I
simply haven't found it, then please point me to the right location, and I'll
happily try editing it on my system.

In recent versions this problem did not appear anymore. I tested version
7.3.4.2 explicitly and the angle of an object can be adjusted up to an accuracy
of 0.01°.

I don't know for sure on macOS, but on Windows builds the 'Use hardware
acceleration' checkbox is non-responsive while the 'Use Skia for all rendering'
is enabled. Which is consistent.

IIUC, there are three rendering modes--CPU only, CPU w/HA, GPU (Skia) [with or
without Vulkan via its two checkboxes]. The 'Use hardware acceleration'
controls the CPU only vs. CPU w/HA. It has no function when Skia is enabled and
on Windows builds is checked enabled by default and is greyed out.

@Noel: Are you confident that that change was sound, and it was guaranteed
that ModuleUIConfigurationManager::m_mutex would never be locked recursively?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 145182] Navigator does not remember last position when closed and reopened; nor when new session starts (GTK3?)

CPU threads: 2; OS: Linux 5.4; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3
Locale: en-GB (en_GB.UTF-8); UI: en-US
Calc: threaded

There is still a residual problem in that the VERY FIRST TIME you open Writer,
after the install, the navigator appears only as a VERY SMALL box in the top
left-hand corner.

After that it behaves correctly as expected. Resize and reposition are both
remembered correctly both during and between sessions.

So it's just the original appearance that needs attention.

... and that has the additional benefit over comment 5, that it (1) doesn't
need to create intrusive UI (many people dislike questions on opening); (2)
doesn't get in the way of command-line processing of existing documents (when a
wrong filename would silently open something empty). One can always create a
dedicated 'create_document' shell script that takes an argument, touches the
file and opens LibreOffice with the file, to have exactly the wanted
functionality.

I would say, that fixed bug 123476 and bug 139991 together solve this
perfectly, in line with the Unix philosophy: you don't need any new switches /
command line arguments for LibreOffice to allow all uses listed here.

Basically a one-liner:

> touch ./myNewFileName.odt && soffice ./myNewFileName.odt

which solves both comment 0 (any third-party application can do that), as well
as comment 10.

The example document in comment 0 was created in LO, right? (app.xml says yes.)

Based on Comment 3, this should be closed as NOTABUG since the DOCX format
doesn't have a way to describe an aa, ab, ac numbering.

The Internet link above describes a complete hack for people who want to
accomplish this in MS Word. Such kinds of exotic hacks (using fields etc)
should not be part of the export process. The current process of mapping to the
closest match is the most appropriate way to handle this.

look too similar and could be easily confused. Now it is time to visit

should have different shapes, colors, or sizes to make them easier to
