[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 39936] UI: Right Click on Row/Column -> Insert Copied Cells... (paste + shift cells in one click)
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=39936 --- Comment #68 from quarleswebbk...@gmail.com --- I think, this basic function is missing in LibO. See also comment "https://superuser.com/questions/663629/move-rows-with-the-keyboard-in-calc; "https://www.mobiledetailchandler.com;. The use of "Paste Special" with option "Shift cells down" will not delete source cells like it does the corresponding Excel function "Insert Cut cells". It's a tragedy - since 2011 a large number of up to 320 updates of LibO has been released, but there was no progress in implementing this basic feature. https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=154402 --- Comment #2 from garet...@exemail.com.au --- Hi, thanks for getting back. And so fast! Huh. I just selected the frame and dragged the image+caption. It depends on what side you approach from. You cannot select it approaching from the right, where I normally keep my mouse cursor. Other sides are OK. >From the right border I always end up selecting-dragging the image, leaving the caption behind, as indicated by the small blue squares on the border. Another odd thing is that, with the frame unselected, I am able to edit the caption text directly from the Writer interface. I would expect that to edit the caption I would need to select the frame first, giving it focus. I'm still not totally familiar with the Navigator but it's not acting as I'd expect. I'd expect an item selected in Navigator would show it had focus - small blue squares. Conversely, I'd expect a selected item to be highlighted in Navigator. Currently, to identify something in Navigator I need to right click it -> Properties -> Options -> Name, then use that to identify it in Navigator. Thanks again for everything. Now that I'm more familiar with Writer it's becoming a easy & intuitive to use. I'm using it for university level notes and really appreciate being able to focus on the information & clear presentation, rather than the interface. At least not in my tests. We might want to "obsolete" some comments here. What I suggest as solutions to some of the problems described here: 1. Format Cells dialog, Alignment tab: - Rename horizontal "Default" to "Automatic", which describes the function better: depending on the cell's contents, an alignment setting is automatically picked. It clears the confusion. It is what we use for colours. - Remove vertical "Default" if it doesn't do anything different to "Bottom", and use "Bottom" as the default selection. - Rename sections "Text Alignment" and "Text Orientation" to "Alignment" and "Orientation" respectively because they also affect numbers. - Rename "Wrap text automatically" to "Wrap automatically" for the same reason. (Alternatively, for the last two points, "text" can be replaced by "contents".) 2. Format menu: - "Format > Align Text" renamed to "Alignment" because it doesn't just affect text. It can even align shapes! - "Format > Align Text > Center" (for vertical section) is renamed to "Middle" so it matches the formatting dialog term - Addition of "Format > Alignment > Automatic" option for the horizontal alignment section (the old "Default"). The other, more obscure alignment options can live exclusively in the Format Cells dialog, as currently. 3. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 154408] New: Changing manual sorting for a pivot table has no effect
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=154408 Bug ID: 154408 Summary: Changing manual sorting for a pivot table has no effect Product: LibreOffice Version: 7.4.6.2 release Hardware: All OS: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: minor Priority: medium Component: Calc Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: a.vanl...@alexandervanloon.nl Description: I have a document with a pivot table. When I want to manually sort one of my row fields by the data field containing the sum of values in the Data Field Options dialog, changing this has no effect. Nothing happens and there is no feedback. When I reopen the Data Field Options dialog for the row field, the sorting option just reverted from manual back to the descinding, as if the change never happened. This behavior is already described in bug #124012 from 2019, which also helped me find the workaround. I also included a screencast. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open the file I attached and navigate to the second tab with the pivot table. 2. Open the pivot table's properties. 3. Double click the "Categorie" row field to open the "Data Field" dialog. 4. Choose "Options..." there to open the "Data Field Options" dialog. 5. By default sorting will be set to "Ascending". 6. Change this to "Manual" and sort with "Sum - Kosten" instead of the default "Categorie". 7. Confirm this change several times so that all the option dialogs are closed. 8. Backtrack to the same "Data Field Options" dialog again and observe that the sorting is back to "Ascending" and sorting with "Categorie" again, as if nothing changed. 9. The workaround is to follow steps 1 to 6, but then change sorting to "Descending" from "Manual". Sort by "Sum - Kosten" will still be active, but is now greyed out. Then follow step 7 and observe that the change now does take effect. Actual Results: Sorting doesn't change. Expected Results: Manual sorting by the sum of values should take effect. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 91130] Smaller default font name list
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=91130 --- Comment #41 from Coburn Ingram --- One thing that would really help is linking the default installed fonts to a user's LOCALE in the operating system. This is an upstream problem, but what happens on my Ubuntu system, when I choose US English as my install language, I get ALL KINDS of fonts installed that absolutely NOBODY in the continental US has ever heard of, let alone knows how to use. The fact that 128 million people in India speak English has absolutely NO BEARING on the fonts I need or want. They have their own locale! Let them install the fonts they like! A user who installs an OS with an EN-US locale should have absolutely NO non-English fonts on their system. Maybe a good Unicode font or two, in order to display web pages. But we should not have MORE non-English fonts than English. WE DON'T USE THEM! And so when it comes to LibreOffice, as I said, this is an upstream problem, and it is not going away right now. What we ought to have, plain and simple, is a page in Tools | Customize that allows us to CONFIGURE the font-menu! It just needs to be set up like the regular menu configuration, with the ability to reorder the fonts, and most important, a CHECKLIST that allows us to filter and NOT DISPLAY system-wide fonts. It needs to be its own tab in the Customize window. I will say that sorting fonts alphabetically is nice. It works for me. My only problem is that the system does not allow me to fine-tune the display of those fonts in any way. LO could provide that way. I highly encourage it. Thanks. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 91130] Smaller default font name list
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=91130 --- Comment #40 from Arlene --- Using version: LibreOffice 7.5.1 I think this case has two challenges as below: Challenges: 1. Users have no specific liking of which font they want to use this time (Some of them may know little about fonts) 2. Users know which font they want to use but are exhausted from finding it from the very long dropdown list. Users' eyes are too busy. For each challenge, here are my ideas: -1. Users have no specific liking of which font they want to use this time (Some of them may know little about fonts) IDEA: Put 3-5 fonts that are familiar to most users at the top of the dropdown box, such as Arial and the SF font family. This will help users not well-versed in fonts choose a font that suits their needs easily. -2. Users know which font they want to use but are exhausted from finding it from the very long dropdown list. Users' eyes are too busy. IDEA: Organize the same font family into one row. For example, SF Pro, SF Pro Display, SF Pro Rounded, and SF Pro Text can all be collapsed under "SF Pro" with an icon ">" on the right. This will help users who know which font they want to use but are having trouble finding it in the long list. They can simply click on the icon ">" to select the font they want. This way could reduce the length of the long dropdown font list. A screenshot of the Google Docs font selection is provided, which demonstrates a similar approach to organizing font families. I would be glad to discuss if these ideas would be practical. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 154402] Formatting : Graphics do not arrange properly if they have a caption
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=154402 Regina Henschel changed: What|Removed |Added CC||rb.hensc...@t-online.de Ever confirmed|0 |1 Status|UNCONFIRMED |NEEDINFO --- Comment #1 from Regina Henschel --- When you insert a caption, image and caption are put together into a frame. The outer positioning properties are transferred from the image to the frame. To move the captioned image in relation to the text, you first have to select the frame and then you can move it. There is a very thin gray line at the edge of the frame. To select the frame click on this line. The reactive area of this gray line is very small. If it is difficult for you to hit this area, you can use the "Navigator" in the sidebar. Open its branch "Frame" and double-click on the frame, which belongs to the image. Now the frame is in drag-and-drop mode with handles and you can move it. If you still cannot grip the frame with the mouse, you can move the frame with the arrow keys. Combining the arrow keys with the Shift-key makes large move steps and combining them with the Alt-key makes small, pixel-wide move steps. Please try these tips and tell us whether it solves your problems. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
