I can confirm the custom shape tutorial works.

I don't think it did at the time, or I thought it didn't because of the long
delay in loading (I had a much slower net connection.)

The time to load the file|save and file|open dialogs on both smb and nfs
mounted drives is an issue. The several seconds it takes for even a small
directory to load if there is any latency is very distracting. Other
applications don't have this problem.

Dear Dave Nadler,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 39936] UI: Right Click on Row/Column -> Insert Copied Cells... (paste + shift cells in one click)

2023-03-26 Thread bugzilla-daemon

--- Comment #68 from quarleswebbk...@gmail.com ---
I think, this basic function is missing in LibO. See also comment
"https://superuser.com/questions/663629/move-rows-with-the-keyboard-in-calc;
"https://www.mobiledetailchandler.com;. The use of "Paste Special" with option
"Shift cells down" will not delete source cells like it does the corresponding
Excel function "Insert Cut cells". It's a tragedy - since 2011 a large number
of up to 320 updates of LibO has been released, but there was no progress in
implementing this basic feature. LibO has a problem with usability!

I agree that it's a bit confusing the actual behavior. Even seems to have the
intention to facilitate the access to the image.

I think it could match on how it happens with charts, first click select the
object and the context menu it's for the object, double-click selects the chart
and context menu give access to chart properties. Or with shapes to select the
text in them.

But being a long time behavior, If at least it was possible, some kind of
indication helping about what you are selecting.

recent changes have bedded down" a week later.

If master against 7.6, and 7.5.2.2 releases test good, there will be a +2 for
it to roll into a TDF (or vendor's LTS) 7.4.7 release.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 154402] Formatting : Graphics do not arrange properly if they have a caption

2023-03-26 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=154402

Hi, thanks for getting back. And so fast!
Huh. I just selected the frame and dragged the image+caption. It depends on
what side you approach from. You cannot select it approaching from the right,
where I normally keep my mouse cursor. Other sides are OK.

>From the right border I always end up selecting-dragging the image, leaving the
caption behind, as indicated by the small blue squares on the border.

Another odd thing is that, with the frame unselected, I am able to edit the
caption text directly from the Writer interface. I would expect that to edit
the caption I would need to select the frame first, giving it focus.

I'm still not totally familiar with the Navigator but it's not acting as I'd
expect. I'd expect an item selected in Navigator would show it had focus -
small blue squares. Conversely, I'd expect a selected item to be highlighted in
Navigator. Currently, to identify something in Navigator I need to right click
it -> Properties -> Options -> Name, then use that to identify it in
Navigator.

Thanks again for everything. Now that I'm more familiar with Writer it's
becoming a easy & intuitive to use. I'm using it for university level notes and
really appreciate being able to focus on the information & clear presentation,
rather than the interface.

Cheers

Those are not what I was referring to. I am not a developer, so I could be
wrong about this.

I think that it was supposed to be:
https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/c/core/+/148075

...with the text:
account for initial vertical offset when toggled into multiline

...aiming at LO 7.4.

But instead of ending with:
 Code-Review +2
Change has been successfully cherry-picked as

...that one ends with:
 Verified +1

...and there was never a corresponding automatic comment in bug 153784 for LO
7.4.

This is why I keep asking.

Bug ID: 154409
Summary: A single click on a shape/image with frame should
select the frame, instead of the image
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.6.0.0 alpha0+ Master
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: tele...@surfxs.nl

Description:
A single click on a shape/image with frame should select the frame, instead of
the image

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open Writer
2. Insert an image
3. Add a caption frame
4. Deselect the frame/image
5. Try reselecting the frame with a mouse click (and without using the
navigator)

Actual Results:
You mostly click on the image inside, and you get bugs like this.. bug 154402.
Same issue for accessing the properties of the frame by right click

Expected Results:
Single left click on image with frame (if unselected) -> select frame
Right click on image in frame (if unselected) -> context menu for frame
Double click on image in frame 'enter shape', so selecting the image as such

Reproducible: Always

Agree that this is an improvement. I still wonder whether "Automatic" isn't too
vague.

> - Rename sections "Text Alignment" and "Text Orientation" to "Alignment" and

Disagree with the motivation, because numbers are also text. Also, out of scope
for this bug IMHO.

I agree with Eyal, I don't think Ady was correct in that "Default" reverts to
the Style alignment setting. At least not in my tests. We might want to
"obsolete" some comments here.

What I suggest as solutions to some of the problems described here:

1. Format Cells dialog, Alignment tab:
- Rename horizontal "Default" to "Automatic", which describes the function
better: depending on the cell's contents, an alignment setting is automatically
picked. It clears the confusion. It is what we use for colours.
- Remove vertical "Default" if it doesn't do anything different to "Bottom",
and use "Bottom" as the default selection.
- Rename sections "Text Alignment" and "Text Orientation" to "Alignment" and
"Orientation" respectively because they also affect numbers.
- Rename "Wrap text automatically" to "Wrap automatically" for the same reason.
(Alternatively, for the last two points, "text" can be replaced by "contents".)

2. Format menu:
- "Format > Align Text" renamed to "Alignment" because it doesn't just affect
text. It can even align shapes!
- "Format > Align Text > Center" (for vertical section) is renamed to "Middle"
so it matches the formatting dialog term
- Addition of "Format > Alignment > Automatic" option for the horizontal
alignment section (the old "Default"). The other, more obscure alignment
options can live exclusively in the Format Cells dialog, as currently.

3. Documentation
- Use the new strings
- Add missing information about RTL

Would that cover it?

Options dialog, changing this has no effect. Nothing happens and there is no
feedback. When I reopen the Data Field Options dialog for the row field, the
sorting option just reverted from manual back to the descinding, as if the
change never happened. This behavior is already described in bug #124012 from
2019, which also helped me find the workaround. I also included a screencast.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open the file I attached and navigate to the second tab with the pivot
table.
2. Open the pivot table's properties.
3. Double click the "Categorie" row field to open the "Data Field" dialog.
4. Choose "Options..." there to open the "Data Field Options" dialog.
5. By default sorting will be set to "Ascending".
6. Change this to "Manual" and sort with "Sum - Kosten" instead of the default
"Categorie".
7. Confirm this change several times so that all the option dialogs are closed.
8. Backtrack to the same "Data Field Options" dialog again and observe that the
sorting is back to "Ascending" and sorting with "Categorie" again, as if
nothing changed.
9. The workaround is to follow steps 1 to 6, but then change sorting to
"Descending" from "Manual". Sort by "Sum - Kosten" will still be active, but is
now greyed out. Then follow step 7 and observe that the change now does take
effect.

Actual Results:
Sorting doesn't change.

Expected Results:
Manual sorting by the sum of values should take effect.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 91130] Smaller default font name list

2023-03-26 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=91130

One thing that would really help is linking the default installed fonts to a
user's LOCALE in the operating system. This is an upstream problem, but what
happens on my Ubuntu system, when I choose US English as my install language, I
get ALL KINDS of fonts installed that absolutely NOBODY in the continental US
has ever heard of, let alone knows how to use. The fact that 128 million people
in India speak English has absolutely NO BEARING on the fonts I need or want.
They have their own locale! Let them install the fonts they like! A user who
installs an OS with an EN-US locale should have absolutely NO non-English fonts
on their system. Maybe a good Unicode font or two, in order to display web
pages. But we should not have MORE non-English fonts than English. WE DON'T USE
THEM!

And so when it comes to LibreOffice, as I said, this is an upstream problem,
and it is not going away right now. What we ought to have, plain and simple, is
a page in Tools | Customize that allows us to CONFIGURE the font-menu! It just
needs to be set up like the regular menu configuration, with the ability to
reorder the fonts, and most important, a CHECKLIST that allows us to filter and
NOT DISPLAY system-wide fonts. It needs to be its own tab in the Customize
window.

I will say that sorting fonts alphabetically is nice. It works for me. My only
problem is that the system does not allow me to fine-tune the display of those
fonts in any way. LO could provide that way. I highly encourage it. Thanks.

Hi,
I've been upgrading my OS over the last 2 weeks, since the last month of zoom
updates have been so broken on my debian-stretch-amd64 system, and they act
like they have dropped support for older operating systems.
Seeing the increased activity on this bug, I have made an effort to duplicate
my own bug, using the same LibO-7.3 container program, but have not yet gotten
this bug to show itself.
Since the OS upgrade to bullseye did fix the zoom audio issue, and audacity
audio issue, it may be that it also fixes this bug.

Tentatively solved. Appears bug was in stretch.

Thank you for affirming you could not duplicate it.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 91130] Smaller default font name list

2023-03-26 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=91130

Using version: LibreOffice 7.5.1

I think this case has two challenges as below:

Challenges:
1. Users have no specific liking of which font they want to use this time (Some
of them may know little about fonts)
2. Users know which font they want to use but are exhausted from finding it
from the very long dropdown list. Users' eyes are too busy.

For each challenge, here are my ideas:
-1. Users have no specific liking of which font they want to use this time
(Some of them may know little about fonts)
IDEA: Put 3-5 fonts that are familiar to most users at the top of the dropdown
box, such as Arial and the SF font family. This will help users not well-versed
in fonts choose a font that suits their needs easily.

-2. Users know which font they want to use but are exhausted from finding it
from the very long dropdown list. Users' eyes are too busy.
IDEA: Organize the same font family into one row. For example, SF Pro, SF Pro
Display, SF Pro Rounded, and SF Pro Text can all be collapsed under "SF Pro"
with an icon ">" on the right. This will help users who know which font they
want to use but are having trouble finding it in the long list. They can simply
click on the icon ">" to select the font they want. This way could reduce the
length of the long dropdown font list.

A screenshot of the Google Docs font selection is provided, which demonstrates
a similar approach to organizing font families. I would be glad to discuss if
these ideas would be practical.

When you insert a caption, image and caption are put together into a frame. The
outer positioning properties are transferred from the image to the frame. To
move the captioned image in relation to the text, you first have to select the
frame and then you can move it.

There is a very thin gray line at the edge of the frame. To select the frame
click on this line. The reactive area of this gray line is very small.

If it is difficult for you to hit this area, you can use the "Navigator" in the
sidebar. Open its branch "Frame" and double-click on the frame, which belongs
to the image. Now the frame is in drag-and-drop mode with handles and you can
move it.

If you still cannot grip the frame with the mouse, you can move the frame with
the arrow keys. Combining the arrow keys with the Shift-key makes large move
steps and combining them with the Alt-key makes small, pixel-wide move steps.

Please try these tips and tell us whether it solves your problems.

5.Choose Brand "Avery Letter Size"
6.Choose Type 3274, 3 listings appear in the drop down box

* account for initial vertical offset when toggled into multiline

bug 153784 comment 16 > 7.6
bug 153784 comment 29 > 7.5

Where is the patch for 7.4? Is it not needed? Bug 153784 comment 30 was
ignored.

I am also a common user. Whether those patches actually would solve this
report, IDK.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 149327] Can't type accented letters at the end of a paragraph in Writer (EDITING)

2023-03-26 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=149327

More details: the problem occurs with acute accents (such as á), diaeresis
(such as ü), "ring above" (such as å) and others (such as ă, ā, ȧ) but *not*
with circumflex (such as â), grave (such as è) or "dot bellow" (such as ạ),
etc.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 152908] Tabbed compact toolbar does not repaint itself when tabs getting removed

2023-03-26 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=152908

The buggy behavior doesn't happen for me when the tab is set to other than the
Table tab and then the cursor is moved from the table to a simple sentence
below the table. And it doesn't occur for me when using the gtk3 vcl backend.

The bibisected patch itself caused a regression and the fix for that caused a
regression so hopefully the fix offered here will not also cause a regression:

screenshot of the problem

I'm not a developer, I'm a user. I'm now going to uninstall 7.4 and revert to
7.3 again as I know that works.

As far as I understand WYSIWYG, the color displayed in the program for a
character (overline) should match the color on a printout or in an exported PDF
file without having to make additional settings for it.

do have to anonymize them manually also.
