I tested it with LO 5.0.1.2, Win 8.1 and I can add page numbers. But maybe
this is a misunderstanding from my side. Could you please give more
information on the problem you encountered and write the different single steps
you had made. Thank you very much.

I suppose you speak of the LO component WRITER as you wrote about text
documents.

Created attachment 118276
  -- https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=118276action=edit
An example that shows both bar and pie charts with styles fail to rt (manual
color works)

I did some more testing and discovered that this affects all charts (pie
charts, bar charts...) that use a color style.

Steps to reproduce an offending chart in Excel:
1. Create a chart
2. Select the chart
3. click the paint brush icon
4. Style - any style other than default
5. Save
6. Round trip in LibreOffice

Markus might have some input on this subject.

Steps to repeat (in default french locale):
1. launch LO
2. create new document
3. double click the show slider on the extreme right side of window

effect is immediate.

what is weird, I tried launching LO with LANG=C to do the same thing.

In default english the action seems to work by showing the docked right
toolbar.
If I now go back to the default, fr_FR locale, things seem alright and can no
longer repeat the core dumps.

Perhaps this is somehow an issue with defaults in non default en_US locales?
I'm perplexed

Reproducible with LO 5.0.1.2, Win 8.1

If I insert a 4x4 table in a new WRITER document and select the whole cell in
row 2 / column 2 and change it to numbering style with the icon in the toolbar
at the top then the cell in row 2 / column 1 gets also the numbering style.
To reproduce it you need to select the whole cell not only the text (as
mentioned in the bug description) and you need to mark the cell from its right
border to the left border (going with the mouse from the right border of the
cell to the cell to the left while holding the left mouse button, then going
back that not both cells are selected). If you do it the other direction it is
not reproducible.

Patch for the 2nd crash above - which is a vclptr issue
Had some time to look at it this morning, and turned out this is likely not
related to VclPtr after all. Actually I was able to reproduce the crash in 4-4
with similar conditions (i.e. adding the bogus xViewProps-setPropertyValue to
SwOneExampleFrame::TimeoutHdl, which is what creating all this mess on master).
Interesting to note that Michael's patch didn't prevent the crash there..

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 92710] Right-to-Left direction for Arabic is not working

2015-08-30 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=92710

--- Comment #22 from Yousuf (Jay) Philips philip...@hotmail.com ---
(In reply to Maxim Monastirsky from comment #20)
One thing that I noticed while watching the video, is that the status bar
says Hindi (which is, according to Wikipedia, written LTR). So the first
thing I would try is to open Tools-Options...-Language
Settings-Languages, and set Arabic for Complex text layout (CTL). And
also under LibreOffice Writer-Basic Fonts (CTL), make sure that the default
fonts are ones that support Arabic.

I can type arabic fine with Hindi mentioned in the statusbar, so that isnt the
problem. The only thing needed to type arabic in LO is to switch the text
direction to RTL (only possible in CTL is enabled) and enable the arabic
keyboard. When a user switches to RTL, the text language will still be English,
but when switching the keyboard to arabic, then LO automatically switches it to
Hindi, though a user can easily change this in the text language status field
context menu or in the character dialog. I had watched the video twice on 07-30
to check if Mohammed was doing it right and it looked correct to me.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 54703] Hidden Sections are no longer hidden when printing or exporting pdf.

2015-08-30 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=54703

--- Comment #10 from Heinz Repp heinz.r...@arcor.de ---
As a long time Open/LibreOffice user and long time user of hidden sections this
bug bites me for the first time as a regression in LibreOffice 5. My use case
is:

A mail merge master document has multiple sections which are hidden on
conditions from the database the document is filled from. When doing the mail
merge, I create separate target documents as often I have to edit some after
merging. Then I batch print all created documents. This worked for me ever
since OpenOffice 2.x up to LibreOffice 4.x.

Now, with LibreOffice 5.0.1.2 I was shocked to see all sections, hidden or not,
be printed. Same holds true for export to PDF, a workaround I hoped it would
work but didn't. This bug bites me on Ubuntu and Windows, it seems not to be
platform specific.

Surprisingly, the hidden sections are suppressed as they should when I print
directly from the mail merge. So: Mail merge - print to printer works, but
Mail merge - print to file, save merged document as individual documents
exhibits the bug. Surprisingly, when I open the merged individual documents
without editing them, I still can see the sections hidden where they should be.
But while printing/exporting, the document is reformatted, and all hidden
sections are shown (without marking the document as changed).

Today, I've been bitten by this bug on a machine with OOo 3.3 installed, so
changing earliest version to Inherited from OOo.

I think that this bug should be fixed despite the workaround given in the

Reproducible with LO 5.0.1.2, Win 8.1.

The doc document has a blank line at the top, which has in LO and MSO a
different size. Therefore, the space at the top is in LO larger than in MSO as
reported in the bug description leading to that the form does not fit on one
page.

Furthermore, as reported there are some further problems with the columns width
leading to that some text is further indented and that text boxes are extended
beyond the frame edge of the form. And there is also one problem with a
horizontal placing of an added line.

First, we know its Wiki, so anyone with motivation can dive in to edit.

Otherwise, confirming that the compiled Help correctly points to our Document
Foundation hosted Wiki, and once there the linked ICU user guide is complete.

But, the ICU guide is a little terse for our LibreOffice users looking for help
with regex in Calc.

With the many LibreOffice changes to Find and Replace dialogs; as well for ICU
regex usage inside Calc functions; and I assume added features to ICU regular
expression (compared to the long gone OOo Regexp engine)--should we still be
pointing to legacy (2009) OOo articles on Regular expressions, especially
guidance that TDF does not host?

Same situation for help for regular expression in Writer,

In the attached ODT document, the text in the frame of the second page does not
seems to respect the register-true setting. The lines of the paragraphs are not
vertically aligned between the first and the second page, as can be seen from
the print preview with pages side-by-side.

If I add some text before the frame on the second page, then in certain
conditions the text in the frame gets vertically aligned with the text on the
first page. I couldn't figure what exactly needs to be changed to get that
result. I may be missing something, but this sounds like a bug to me.

actually, .wb2 files are converted with the LibreOffice's internal filter

Thanks for the clarification. Is there dev interest to improve gpro, as i am

 Just for notes:,
 - some filters have been added in libwps to convert Quattro Pro .wq1 and

What version of Quattro Pro creates .wq1 and .wq2 files? Are there plans for
libwps to also support .wb1 ... files?

 - and yes, libwps also does not import the charts which can be present in a

Is this due to a lack of sample documents or that it a future plan to tackle.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 93780] New: On triggering an event passing the reference of the related object as argument

2015-08-30 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=93780

Bug ID: 93780
Summary: On triggering an event passing the reference of the
related object as argument
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 4.4.4.3 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: sworddrag...@aol.com

On making a right click on an image and going to Image... - Macro and
selecting an event like Click object and assigning a macro to it it seems
that it is not possible to get a reference to the image from the macro if it
gets triggered. Maybe this can be enhanced for example by passing the reference
of the object which triggered the related event as an argument to the macro.

Styles with strange names

This issue is similar to tdf#93438, just test in reverse direction.

This issue can only be reproduce in Chinese UI.

1. Open Impress, enter any text. Select copy.
2. Paste the data ( use paste-special with RTF format) into Writer.
3. Observe paragraph style, Chinese style names are all messed up.

Writer Web as a functional HTML editor has been missed!

@Vasily, if as Luke suggests in bug 48887 you are revisiting generation of
HTML-- rather than a simple revert of Ciorba's work to embed all images into
HTML as base64--could we test for mail merge and only embed in that case? Then
retain linked images within a Writer editable HTML.

@Ciorba Edmond you still with us?

The problem persists in LO 4.4.5.2 in an odt document. Doesn't occur every
time. A document can look good and TOC and Index updated correctly and saved
and closed. But next time it is open paragraph breaks for some paragraphs may
be gone and so may index entries for those paragraphs.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 82402] START CENTER: Missing PPTX thumbnails

2015-08-30 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=82402

--- Comment #14 from Yousuf (Jay) Philips philip...@hotmail.com ---
(In reply to Maxim Monastirsky from comment #13)
 [Sorry for the long post]

Thanks for the detailed explanation. :D

 1. This check seems to be needed only at file close, i.e. a user is closing
the file, while rejecting the changes he made to it. But I wonder why do we
need to refresh the recent list at all at this stage? In order to close a
file, one first needs to open it, isn't it? So the recent item is *already
 exists*.

I would assume saving a more recent version of the thumbnail to the ODF file,
so that new preview could appear in something like a file manager preview would
be the intent here, as there wouldnt be a benefit for the start center.

 2. At least when the thumbnail creation method is called upon file open, why
should we care whether the document is flagged as modified (for some
reason), given that we know for sure that the document is just opened, and
the user hadn't a chance to make any manual changes to it?

Yep that doesnt make sense to check if the modified flag is set right after LO
opens the doc.

 1. The real bug here is that documents are flagged as modified while they're
not. (BTW I looked at SfxObjectShell::IsModified, and it seems that the
modified state comes from the embedded charts. I commented there the code
that checks the status of embedded objects, and this caused all of those
files to show thumbnails in the start center.)

Yep this does seem to be the root of the problem (bug 82402).

 2. I don't like the idea of changing a working code (which is always a
recipe for regressions), just to workaround some uncommon cases. We should
consider this only if we'll see a critical mass of documents that won't show
in the start center. We're still not there.

This issue came to mind again when i saw a screenshot of the start center with
missing thumbnails in a review of 5.0 (
http://me.pcmag.com/libreoffice-50/3008/review/libreoffice-50 ), though it was
for calc openable files.

2015-08-30 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=93178

--- Comment #5 from Yousuf (Jay) Philips philip...@hotmail.com ---
(In reply to Bastián Díaz from comment #4)
Yes. I agree and I think there is a problem. According to their logic normal
view is to modify the elements, but the date, Footer and page number
can not be formatted in the normal view.

I guess i forgot to mention that master view is also for formatting. If you'd
like to format these elements within the slide, then you can insert fields like
Insert Field Page Number.

Other office suits, show these objects (date, footer, and page number) as
another placeholder, which delivers more dynamism to the user to use these
 elements.

Maybe you should submit a enhancement request to make these objects style
editable per slide similar to title and object textboxes are.

Example of conditional formatting with =

The logical result should be to match the character =. This is how other
spread sheets handle it. In this example, na is black and = is blue. This
is how Google Sheets, Excel, and WPS sheets all handle it. Until this bug is
fixed, you can't actually create the attached file in Calc.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 93790] New: Insert Page break before Summary

2015-08-30 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=93790

Bug ID: 93790
Summary: Insert Page break before Summary
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 4.4.5.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: ok_vicin...@hotmail.com

I tried to create a Page Break before the Summary... Being the Summary on the
first page of my document, but I couldn't. Then, I deleted the Summary and put
it again but now in the second page and I created a page break between the
first page and the second page.

All this because I forgot the Cover.

But block a page break before the summary, when it is in the first page, seems
wrong to me.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 68695] EDITING: Comments cannot be resized while editing - missing squares around the comment/note

2015-08-30 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=68695

--- Comment #22 from Larry Bradley larry.w.brad...@gmail.com ---
So, everytime you want to resize a comment, it requires two extra steps (Show
Comment, then close comment) unless you want the comment to remain on the
screen, which most people do not. Not cool. (In reply to tommy27 from comment
#3)
Ok, now I understand and I can reproduce.

in 4.0.4 the resize corners are visible immediately after you create a new
comment... so you can resize it while editing.

in 4.1.0 those resize corners are invisible till you save the comment
(press enter) and then reopen it again (right click menu - show comment)
and click on it. so basically you cannot resize while editing.

adding REGRESSION keyword and Calc expert to CC list.
 modified summary notes as well.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 93791] New: FORMATTING of cells lost when editing content in general input field

2015-08-30 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=93791

Bug ID: 93791
Summary: FORMATTING of cells lost when editing content in
general input field
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: Other
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: gsmu...@gmx.de

* Open a new Calc document and input two or three sentences of text in a cell.
* Format a part of the text, but not all of it, in bold or italics.
* Leave the cell
* Go back to the cell
* Modify the text of the cell but NOT in the cell itself but in the general
input field at the top of the window

Problem: When pressing the SHIFT key and releasing it, the formatting of the
text is removed. This is not a display error but the formatting information is
lost when pressing the button.

One can circumvent the problem by editing the text in the cell rather than in
the general input box. However, this is not possible in my case as the text is
longer than what can be displayed in the cell due to my limited notebook screen
size.

I tried Libreoffice 4.2, 4.3, 4.4 and also 5.0 with Ubuntu 14.04 and 15.04, all
have the same issue.

Appears to be fixed on 5.1 master as of the below commit. I guess the mechanism
is that failing to destruct the dialog means the change isn't committed?

I don't see a backport to 5.0 yet
