You sacrifice consistency, transparency, and flexibility for having one static
configuration. Consistency means similar functions behave the same. Palettes
can be edited locally, delete, added, have the same naming scheme (i.e. lower
case, whoever introduced that) etc. Transparency is not given to the user, she
is not able to know why this particular palette behaves differently. And we
also loose the flexibility to adjust things, perhaps beyond the layout (Stuart
suggested, if I understand right, an internal layout with whitespaces to align
the colors), e.g. renaming the palette. Assuming we get the enhanced extension
manager, I blogged about recently, there should be not only an option to
download palettes (or more general, objects) but also to delete them. People
who do not do professional desktop publishing, guess >80%, will hardly use this
palette and prefer either what their OS provides (Tango, Breeze, Windows/Azur,
and MacOS/Capitain? - the latter are todos) or use the tonal swatch.
And finally I care more about Libreoffice branding colors. Why not hard code
these colors? <- This is not a question, at least not to me.

Cut down odt file showing greater line spacing.

Documents created in LO5.1.4 have greater line spacing when opened in LO5.2.3.3
causing page text to overflow and corrupt layout.
The odt file attached is a larger file cut down and saved in LO 5.2.3.3. The
pages to look at are 3,4,5.
The PDF PT252-PT253manualhm52cutAOO.pdf shows how the text looks with LO 5.1.4
and AOO 4.1.2.
The PDF PT252-PT253manualhm52cutLO5233.pdf shows how the text looks with LO
5.2.3.3 

Workaround, set proportional line spacing 98% in paragraph style.

Hi. Not sure if my issue is related.
Your file views fine in my 5.2.3.3. I notice you have selected character
rotation (Format>character>Position Rotation/Scaling).
In 5.2.3.3 in my table I have the same visual as your file
LO5.3Alpha1+_BrokenRenderingOfVerticalText but I have used character rotation =
0 and Table>Properties>Text Flow Text Orientation = vertical. This table viewed
ok in LO 5.1 and views ok in AOO4.1.2.

Hello,

It would be very useful, for technical documents writers to be able to insert a
file content from a git repository.

I can see https://bugs.documentfoundation.org//show_bug.cgi?id=77255 where
https://skyfromme.wordpress.com/2014/04/07/announcing-bundesgit-for-libreoffice
is mentioned.

The idea is:

* From Edit Menu, select Insert, and then git file. Then fill file with git
file path (git://xxx.yy/path/to/file)

A new "frame"? (the same that index) would be populate with git file content.
It would be static until somebody pick right mouse button and choose update
content (like update index). Maybe a new item on menu with "update all git
references" would help to be productive.

It would be perfect if you were popup asked when you write git:// on a
document.

I'm not sure if credentials could be saved on actual odt format

tdf#98882 DOCX import: set default para properties on the Standard para style
That's what the DOC import does, and that's the reason e.g. the strange
unwanted crop of the as-char anchored picture doesn't happen there.

This also needs the "reset all existing style properties back to
default" logic to be adapted: the Standard style has to be reset before
the default are set, and later it should be left alone, otherwise the
defaults are lost.

Actually looked around for how palette folks refer to "Out of gamut" warnings. 

Some hyphenated, some italicized but no standard and technically here we are
not saturated in sRGB--but "out of gamut" for this tonal palette, so
abbreviated.

Test document with combined characters

Reproduced with 5.2.3.3 and 5.3 daily build / Windows 7.
I created a test document based on the description (replaced the last "e" in
the second line with the combining character).

It looks wrong in a different way in 5.3 with the common layout engine, so I'll
be adding to HarfBuzz regressions metabug, even though it wasn't actually
correct before.

With the sample ODT, if I simply edit the Heading 3 style and set the spacing
above to 0.15" from the 0.16" listed it also reverts.

I would be less inclined to adjust the proportional spacing--and it is entirely
possible that rather than a font rendering issue (which would control the
proportional font) it is a document canvas issue in placing lines of text.

It would be helpful if you were to dump your test document from 5.1.4 to file
ODF (i.e. .fodt), and then the same document opened _and saved_ once in 5.2.3
also saved to file ODF (.fodt).

Then we can compare the actual structure of each.

Confirmed with 5.2.3.3 / Windows 7.
If a document was open, the password prompt didn't come to foreground.
However, if I was in the Start Center, the prompt did come to foreground as
expected.

Seems to work as expected in 5.1.4.2 / Ubuntu 16.04.

For those who don't know what cross-media publishing means and why the
integrity of the palette is so important:


If you want to publish across all available media, there are two ways you can
do it:

1) traditionally with the best results but time-consuming and expensive;

2) in a streamlined cross-media workflow with a little loss of quality, but
also at much lower costs and little to no discrepancies in the display of
colours.


Option 1) means for images to be kept in a large colour space like ECI RGB and
then manually adjusted for specific output targets like Web, CMYK print,
digital print etc. Fill colours, especially for logos can be spot colours (and
often are), which offer a wider gamut than can be achieved by CMYK printing or
web colours.  Spot colours require an extra printing plate per colour, which
makes printing very expensive. There will also be huge discrepancies between
professionally printed fliers, brochures etc., the print result on deskjet
printers, presentations and the web.


With option 2) some brilliance in print and  high-definition display systems is
being sacrificed to save costs and to minimise the discrepancies between
allegedly identical colours in different media. For that purpose the colour
gamut is limited to sRGB. Instead of adjusting colours images for each output
target, they are simply kept in the sRGB colour space, the only necessary
editing being up or downscaling (e.g. for print or web), which can be
automated. For fill colours, this means not only reducing the available colours
to sRGB but a further reduction to a subset that can be reliably reproduced in
CMYK. This doesn't only reduce the time consumed by graphics professionals and
hence the related fees, but also the printing expenses (no spot colours
involved). Moreover, colour discrepancies between different media and printing
methods are negligible. Colours will always be *very* similar. 


For an office suite like LibreOffice this means that once a "corporate" colour
identity has been developed using the "safe" HLC palette and the fF fans,
non-designers can use these colours safely for all kinds of colour-related
work, including letterheads or presentations. They don't even need the fans
(only graphics professionals do).


If it's possible to save local copies of the hard-coded palette, a company,
non-profit organisation, whatever could also provide a stripped-down version of
the HLC palette to its employees with only a subset of colours allowed for
colour communication.


It took freieFarbe e.V. and its predecessors a lot of time, money and testing
in real-world scenarios to create the free fans and the palette, but it was
worth it, I believe, because it "just works".

Description:
If I format a cell as Time hh:mm:ss and enter a value containing a minute value
12 or less the value is displayed with a CLOCK symbol where minutes should be
shown. For example when entering cell value 01:12:25 results in 01:25
As a workaround change cell format to Time hh:mm, enter the hours and minutes
(01:12). Change format back to hh:mm:ss and edit the cell to include the
seconds. Now it shows 01:12:25 correctly.
Or, format as hh:mm:ss and enter 01:13:25. Then edit cell to desired value
01:12:25.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Format a cell as Time hh:mm:ss
2. Enter a minute value of 12 or less

Actual Results:  
enter 01:12:25 
01:25 is displayed


Expected Results:
01:12:25


Reproducible: Always

If it's hard-coded into LibreOffice the ND option goes away and LO can use it
under its own licence. I'd only ask for a comment in the code that the colour
values and colour codes better not be changed.

As I've written before, we only want to protect the integrity of the palette to
enable its usage with the freieFarbe colour fans, not restrict users.

Sorry, can't upload the original, too big, 22 megs. Also can't produce the
.fodt from anything earlier than 5.2.3.3 until I revert back.

When opening with 5.2.3.3 I get growth on page 1 flowing to 2. The PDF above
shows what the file should look like. Then noticeable at the PDF references
P16, bottom P26 (6.2.3), bottom P27 (6.3.6), bottom P29 (6.4.4).

And yes, it could be the heading style spacing throwing out the layout
different versions of LO applying different spacing.

the bisect in comment #7 is highly suspicious, most likely that repo was
incrementally built or something, the comment #5 one i can reproduce

this did it, apparently it works with the internal cairo and fails with system
cairo:

Disallow --without-system-cairo combined with (implicit) --enable-gtk

As the system gtk libraries may depend on later versions of libcairo.so.2

happen at runtime that our bundled libcairo.so.2 and/or libpixman-1.so.0
get
loaded before the system ones, the system gtk would probably not work
correctly.

Ultimately, the bundled cairo can probably go completely.


Ok so it is caused by using system cairo which is newer than the one we bundled
3 years ago and is probably Linux-specific.

Workaround: disable Tools->Options->LibreOffice->View->"Use hardware
acceleration"

No. As long as it's possible to create a local copy of the palette, you don't.

The whole reason for the existence of the HLC SOC palette is that people who
*don't* do desktop publishing can safely use these colours in cross-media
workflows without risking glaring discrepancies between the colours in a
presentation and a printed flier (for example). Do you have any idea about the
headaches office files can create for people in design departments, graphics
bureaus or printers when it comes to colour and colour consistency? The HLC SOC
palette enables users to eliminate these headaches and related costs.

we expect int parameters. But it's obviously not the case here.
Perhaps should we check parameters are not greater than SAL_MAX_INT32 or

LibreOffice documents can contain 2 different kinds of embedded objects:
* Windows native OLE embedded objects
* embedded objects for which LibreOffice has its own import filter

If LibreOffice doesn't have a filter for the object, it can only be opened on
Windows via native OLE.

Unfortunately the UI uses the words "Insert OLE object" for both types,
which is a bit confusing (see bug 82625).

for the embedded object in the attached document, it appears that
LO cannot detect the document type.

the "file" tool isn't doing any better:

Yes, on the Win 10 VM it used whatever comes with Windows and now on my Win 7
it uses my default viewer Irfanview.

The OLEs open on Windows not because it's Windows, but because there are OLE
Servers installed on Windows. The "corresponding program" you mentioned in
comment 0 should be MS Office, isn't it?

Description:
When I add a new cell in calc this expression:
=INFO("osversion")
Libreoffice is returning the value "Windows (32-bit) NT 5.01" but my system is
under Linux Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS.

I think that returning the correct info here is a main thing, because we use
that kind of values to export files by macros or use the filesystem according
to the operative system.


Steps to Reproduce:
1.Do a Linux installation of LibreOffice
2.Put in a cell this expression:=INFO("osversion")
3.You could see that the operative system returned is incorrect

Actual Results:  
Libreoffice Calc return the value:  Windows (32-bit) NT 5.01

Expected Results:
This function should return a name like:   Linux Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS   or
similar, according to the operative system

User Profile Reset: No

Hi,
I rested the problem on master and it looks it works for me. I don't have 100%
the same strings as it was at bug report in year 2010 (probably some strings
have changed), but it works for me now.

Just to make sure here are the steps:
Note: Make sure you have some PDF file, because it will be inserted in Writer
document.
1. Open Writer and new document.
2. Menu Insert | Object | OLE Object.
3. Leave default "Create new" selection and from Object Type select "Further
objects".
4. New dialog opens. At left site select "Create from File".
5. Click on Browser button and point to just some PDF file and click on Open
button.
6. Returned to previous dialog. Click on "Display As Icon" checkbox and click
OK button.
7. In main Writer document "PDF File" icon is displayed.
8. Make sure you delete original "PDF file" (or rename it in file manager), to
make sure this file is really embed in Writer.
9. In Writer double click on "PDF File" icon and embed PDF file is displayed.
So problem solved.

I have left this bug status untouched, because my reproduce scenario has little
bit different wordings, so I would like if someone else can check original bug
report and compare it to instructions in this post to confirm problem does not
appear anymore.

retested on master and problem is exactly the same as in Comment 4 (so "+" icon
does not appear any more, but main problem still exists).

So CTRL+mouse should copy the object. In Draw it copies the object, but in
Writer it does nothing (the bug).

Tested on master on Windows 7.
