Thank you for the steps. I can now reproduce the crash using your first
alternative.

I now understand why the patch in attachment 181096 was not used: it makes a
copy of the bitmap in memory. It fixes the crashing, but it would require a lot
more memory and frequently copying of bitmaps.

I added the debug patch in attachment 184138 and I noticed the following debug
output immediately before the crash:

debug:2178:56744: XXX:0x63e71e00 709x464*2R::1418x928::2::244x232@(399,156)

debug:2178:56744: XXX:0x63e71e00 709x464*2R::1418x928::2::200x145@(509,319)
1018,638,400,290::5672::6 2::6 22022-12-14 08:57:10.358900-0500
soffice[2178:56744] [org.libreoffice.script] copy_read_only: vm_copy failed:
status 1.

Note that the first line doesn't crash and the second one crashes. Both are
taking a small subarea of the same bitmap. The difference is that the subarea
in the second one aligns with the bottom, right edges of the bitmap.

>From the above, I think that Luboš Luňák's "HACK for tdf#145843" in
vcl/skia/osx/gdiimpl.cxx now makes sense to me. His fix is just missing cases
like this.

I will see if I am able to expand his fix to handle this case.

This is one part of all suggestions done in/for 92251 by ÓVári. Just makes
sense to have that for macro coders. And comment 3 gives a nice direction IMO.

Valid, there is no help article for the 'User Interface...' selection dialog.

And yes it would be helpful if the dialog had a linking 'Help' button, but it
is not strictly necessary as once authored the suffices as for all UI

see bug 106470, bug 115131 for emergence of providing the User Interface dialog
rather than menu items as the MUFFIN Notebook Bar was implemented. And mid-way

What is not clear between the two parts is how the listbox of radio buttons for
JRE/JDK present relate to the action user needs to take with the checkbox to
configure use of Java within LibreOffice.

The label should hint the action--i.e. when Java use is checked enabled, to
make a selection from this list of JRE/JDK (of the right flavor) that
LibreOffice has found on this system.

Mike's 'A list of Java runtime environments (JRE) already installed:' omits the
"make a selection". And we depend on the use of radio buttons on the list
elements to hint that just one be selected.

Finding a string to convey that--while remaining translatable--is the ask.

IMHO, just keep the current but append " (select one):"

And related, add the "No JREs were found on your system!" to the list box
rather than changing the label.

Further testing shows that if I create a new ODB in my "Downloads" folder and
connecting to the same database instance, with the exact same connection

something wrong with the file permissions granted to the LibreOfficeDev.app

Tried this one with LO 7.4.3.2 and sqlite-jdbc-3.40.0.0.jar

Could create a table in SQLite, could input new rows, could change content of
existing rows. No buggy behavior appears.

System here: OpenSuSE 15.3 64bit rpm Linux.

Might be the bug has gone with sqlite-jdbc-3.40.0.0.jar?

   Version: 7.6.0.0 alpha0+ Master
  Hardware: All
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED

Description:
With XWizardController it is possible to create a TabControl with some Pages.
The pages are created with a predefined size. The pages can beresized by user
or by calling windows->setPosSize. But when another tab is selected, the page
are resized to the originally defined size.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Create Tabpages with XWizardController
2.Change size manually or programmatically.
3.Select another tab

Actual Results:
The pages falls back to originally defined size.

Expected Results:
The pages should keep it's size.

Have tried also the attachment
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=117649 (Db schema).
Tables will be created, could input data, but relations won't work as expected.
But this might be a special behavior of SQLite - foreign key could differ to
primary key of the connected table, so it seems the relation has been ignored.

I tested this by inserting the Calc doc as OLE, double-clicking it to edit and
changing the height, so only rows 1-4 were visible.

I bisected this with linux-64-6.0 and got this as the result

fix tdf#114934 borderline feature regressions

There is even a meta bug for it: bug 114934

The issue is really minor as even before the change, there was a very slight
extension of the vertical borders (not seen on all zoom levels).

> 2. The background fill is up and to the left a small amount from the grid -
> see #135891

This is bug 99953 (found/confirmed by bisecting).

fine the first 5 minutes, then in 4 minutes the Writer document crashed 5

using an existing, and functional ODB file which is configured to connect to a
local instance of a mysql server.

When I open the ODB file, I'm asked for my password.
Correct entry of the password leads to the display of the accessible tables.
Double-click on any table entry from the list of tables.
The grid view of the opened table shows no column headers, everything is blank,
and no data is displayed. The grid is only displayed as the grey coloured top
and side cell structure.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open a ODB file which is configured to connect to a mysql server instance.

3. Notice how the grid display contains no headers, nor rows, and no data.

I don't know what MS Word is doing nor I can test it to confirm, but either it
is inserting the formatting marks automatically based on some heuristic (and I
think we already have open issues requisting such behavior) or implements q
non-standard bidi algorithm which I don't think some thing we want to support.

FWIW, you will get the same digit order thing in essentially any application
(other than MS Office, based on your observation).

The font switch is unique to office suits and we probably can improve it, but I
feel that the digit order is the bigger issue here.

Hola Michael

Lo siento pero si se puede, sería bueno escribir en Inglés aquí como es el
lenguage común para el proyecto.

---

If I understand well, there are two very distinct ideas here:

1) a design in which several documents are in the same window, using tabs to
navigate between them ("concepto con pestañas")

This idea is already discussed in Bug 37134. You can add your screenshot there.

2) a design in which the Tabbed UI is reorganised so the different tabs are
aligned to the left and the Open/Save/Undo/etc. controls are in the same row as
the window titlebar. ("Concept único")

I agree that space could be better utilised for the tabbed UI, and a related
discussion is Bug 108401.

Let's keep this bug focused on a single row for common icons + more space for
the UI tabs.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 152512] New: Text document status bar reporting incorrect number of pages briefly then after a few seconds display the correct number of pages

2022-12-14 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=152512

Bug ID: 152512
Summary: Text document status bar reporting incorrect number of
pages briefly then after a few seconds display the
correct number of pages
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.3.1.3 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: bcdesig...@gmail.com

Description:
User reported that when saving his document to an external usb disk, upon
carrying on with writing in his document several pages were now missing,
despite issuing a "CTRL S" command prior to saving the doc to the ext usb.
He never closed the doc nor quit the app.
I examined the ext usb but the doc had not in fact been saved successfully.
I looked at doc on his machine and his edits were indeed missing as he could
recall several.
I closed the doc and re-opened and observed the strange behaviour of the page
count in the status bar: initially shows 52 pages then after a few seconds
shows 45 pages.
I checked the tmp folder and only contained one document - exactly the same as
the one he was editing; it also displayed the odd behaviour.
I opened the doc from my M1 MacBook Pro with exactly the same odd status
behaviour

Steps to Reproduce:
1.n/a
2.
3.

Actual Results:
Due to the nature of this behaviour unable to attempt to reproduce it

Expected Results:
n/a

Reproducible: Didn't try

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
LibreOffice version: 7.3.1.3
OS: Zorin OS (Linux 5.13)
UI: en-GB
Ubuntu package version: 1:7.3.1_rc3-0ubuntu0.20.04.1~llo1

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=90646

Combining multiple families of styles into one panel view is a terrible idea.
If a document has a large number of styles, how would scrolling through them in
a much smaller frame be more helpful?

A modal window having to be brought up every time I want to change a style
would also be a real pain.

The better option IMO is to use a customizable styles toolbar for the most
frequently used styles.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 146765] Base Form - crash when scrolling in dual form & "data as table" display (macOS Arm)

2022-12-14 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=146765

I can reproduce this bug with attachment 182260 but only when I have activated
macOS VoiceOver. In both Telesto's crash log and my local crash log, this
infinite recursion of NSViewGetVisibleRect calls starts with a macOS
NSAccessibility event (the magic function in the stack trace is
"_NSAccessibilityChildrenInNavigationOrderAttributeValue").

My guess is that macOS is asking for all the accessible "child" objects for all
of the rows in the table view and LibreOffice as in the process of returning a
very large number of child objects.

I see similar, but not the same, behavior when I open an empty Calc spreadsheet
and enable VoiceOver: Calc does into a very, very long loop.

@Alex Thurgood:

Your last crash log has a truncated stack (due to infinite recursion of
NSViewGetVisibleRect calls no doubt) so can do you only see this crash when
VoiceOver or other accessible tool is activated?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 144911] digits misplaced when entering l-t-r text (starting with a number) in a r-t-l paragraph

2022-12-14 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=144911

the previous comment is correct, but
it is correct that using the "intuitive" menu sequence: "Insert->Formatting
Mark->Left-To-Right Mark" renders the text as expected
however, I believe that this should not be the default behavior, and users
should not have to resort to using invisible formatting marks whenever they
want to cite an international (latin text and digits) reference while writing
in a r-t-l language
1. because it is not intuitive, and not what users expect
2. as an expert "witness" to back my intuition on default behavior - MS Word
renders the text in my example correctly without any "formatting marks". The
fact that the users enters a sequence of digits and latin letters means that
the sequence should be formatted as a left-to-right sequence within the
right-to-left paragraph

2022-12-14 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=94524

(In reply to Heiko Tietze from comment #4)
> Calc nows the function TRIM() to remove trailing spaces. And probably some
> IDE too but in general it's not a common function.

I think it's fairly common as a voluntary or on-save action at least. Examples:

https://stackoverflow.com/questions/20679842/remove-trailing-whitespace-on-save-in-intellij-idea-12

https://stackoverflow.com/q/82971/1593077

https://stackoverflow.com/q/1043433/1593077

but I have no opinion about this bug. One might wonder... does it make sense
for LO to maintain its own IDE, striving for a full set of IDE features? Or
should it better delegate work to a separate IDE, which is likely to offer more
code-editing-specific features than LO itself?

Hello Alex, how are you entering the special characters, from the Insert >
Special Characters?
I can confirm that I am able to copy and paste the special character as defined
by Robert Großkopf 2022-11-26 07:58:17 UTC into a document, and I can save the
document.

I tried the Format Page icon as suggested. I see no way to scale the selected
cells from there either.

Thank you for the report.

Unfortunately, if it is not reproducible, and without a test document to try
ourselves or some kind of trace that recorded the issue, I don't think we will
be able to do anything about it. It could even be specific to the storage
device.

What I can suggest is installing a newer version: 7.3 has seen many bug fixes,
and 7.4 is currently maintained and will see more bugfix versions.

For now, I am marking this as "insufficient data" but if you manage to
reproduce the issue, please report back!
