The IP-Routing works fine, but the IPX Routing didn't work. I've configured both cards for IPX and started ipxd. After a few seconds I can see the found IPX-Networks under /proc/net/ipx_route and I can mount a Novell-Volume from my Linux machine, but when I try to access the Novell-Server from a machine connect via Ethernet it didn't see any Novell Servers. Is there anyone who has allready succesfully configured a IPX-Router for Routing from Ethernet to TokenRing? -- Jens Wiessner mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] -- From: Sami Yousif [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Location of latest de4x5 driver? Date: Tue, 27 Jul 1999 13:15:56 -0500 I am looking for the location of the latest de4x5 driver (including test versions). Already looked at the source, but there is no listing for where an updated driver is located. This would work well if you work locally on the server, but does it work over SMB-network? Monte Phillips wrote: WEll actually you have a good idea IMHO. Write the script as you say, have it mv files to /recycle, but the way I would do it if I wanted it global and automatic is simply rename the script to rm and place it in /bin (after renaming the old rm to rm.old or something). Then all you have to do is periodically empty the recycle with the rm.old in fact even that could be automated with chron. haze [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: you could write up a little shell script that accepts files as params. and say mv files to trash then have a delete trash script or build it in one good luck let me know if you use this apporach. it will work but it would have to be done through telnet HAZE Roland Schatz wrote: I have to set up a linux-fileserver for a Win95/WinNT network, but I need the ability to undelete files. If this is impossible, a recycled-folder will do. Most important is that this should work over network, too (Files deleted over network, the undelete can also be done locally or with a telnet session). Are there any tools to do that? Or is there another SMB server with this feature included? -- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] (Marc Culler) Subject: mount -o noac broken in RH6.0 Date: 27 Jul 1999 04:41:40 GMT We have several RedHat systems ranging from RH5.2 with a 2.0.36 kernel to RH6.0 with a 2.2.5 kernel. We use the noac option on all of our nfs mounts because otherwise it takes way too long for the xfm (or Files) file manager to update the display when a file is dragged from one window to another. (And we don't even want to think about the nasty things that happen when you mix attribute caching with e-mail.) On our RedHat 5.2 systems things work fine when we set the noac option in our NFS mounts. On our RedHat 6.0 systems the noac option seems to be ignored. Attributes are cached even with noac set. We have to also set actimeo=0 to get things to work correctly on the 6.0 systems. Does anyone know anything about this? While porting some networking software, I noticed that the high-numbered UDP port I had picked out of a hat was failing to allocate. A little experiment later showed that all UDP ports above 61000, all the way up to 65335, were failing. The same code under Irix and Windows worked in the upper port numbers (aside from a couple ports that were being used, probably by ephemeral ports.) My question: what's up with the UDP port numbers above 61000? Is this a blackdown problem, something with the way I've got my Linux machine configured, or what? The java code (this is off the top of my head, actual code not handy right now) looks like this: /** * Test program, prints out UDP ports that can't be allocated. * Compile: javac ClosedPorts.java * Run: java ClosedPorts * */ import java.net.*; public class ClosedPorts extends Object { public static void main(String args[]) { DatagramSocket socket; intportNo = 1024; while(portNo 65335) { try { socket = new DatagramSocket(portNo); socket.close(); // Close down, prevent too many open at once } catch(SocketException se) { System.out.println("Unable to open socket " + portNo + " " + se); } portNo++; } } // end main } // end class = Posted via Deja News, The Discussion Network http://www.dejanews.com/ Search, Read, Discuss, or Start Your Own -- From: Wendell Craig [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: proftpd setup Date: Mon, 03 May 1999 13:13:16 GMT Bob Pollack wrote: I have proftpd installed on Redhat Linux 6.0. The symptom is that mail to newer sendmail instances fails to go through, because the "sendmail can't write" a particular welcome line. I can manually simulate the SMTP conversation over a telnet connection from my machine but real mail won't budge. I used tcpdump to sniff packets coming to and from the machine. Here's what I saw. As soon as my machine connects to the remote SMTP server I see the SYN packets being exchanged. Then I see a packet from a high port on the remote server to the auth port on my machine. Then I see an ICMP packet from my machine to the remote machine that says "tcp post auth unreachable". If I do the same exercise on a different machine I don't see the ICMP packet. What's potting? Any ideas? If anyone wants I could send a full packet dump of that conversation and a similar dump of the same conversation on a different machine that works without a hitch. You have seen bug/"random feature" of BSD (?). It has been described in comp.mail.sendmail postings. Quick fix: enable access to your auth port with no auth demon running. You will get TCP SYNC TCP RSET instead of TCP SYNC ICMP unreachable On my machine I apply the fix for short time whenever I have such problems. -- Andrzej (Andrew) A. I'm trying to connect a linux box (2.0.35) to a rather large token ring network and am encountering a few problems. The network has a number of 3com token ring hubs, which are joined by a 3com 7000 ATM switch. I can see all the machines on the local token ring, but none on the other rings. An NT box which sits on the same ring can see the whole network. I've been told by the people in the know, that I need to "disable source route routing" for the token ring card. A quick usenet search has turned up little, source routing hadn't used to work, but does now. The source code doesn't make an explicit references to it, and I'm no kernel hacker. Does anyone know how I can disable source routeing for the token ring card?
