OT SouthWare info needed.

2003-06-16 Thread Ben Duncan
I have a client that is running SouthWare Accounting Software on SCO OpenServer.
So far, all the Local/Regional dealers want $ 1,500.00 PER USER to bump up their
licensed
user seats.

Anyone Know of and are familiar with more Honest SouthWare dealers ?

Regarding sendmail connections

2003-06-16 Thread Swapana Ghosh
Hi

What kind of HDs?

I can only say the speed that is 100MB/sec approx.
Bandwith and other it is with the company who are
holding our DNS etc...

I have posted another email.. I want to know how many
connections
sendmail can accept... Becaues i am testing with 250k
recrods and
want to send from qmail server to sendmail server
(just to check
the qmail speed)...

I checked with 50k records. i am seeing that first 10k
records are
coming in a speed that i expected but gradually it is
coming down..

and sendmail also having very high load.. it is
running between now
20-25

So what is the parameter i have to check for these and
to see my
connections limit... 2/3day back i posted my
sendmail.mc file
to this list also.

Best Regards.

That doesn't answer the question of what kind of harddrives you have.

IPSec (FreeS/WAN) anyone??

2003-06-16 Thread Federico Voges
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

Hi,

I'm trying to setup a VPN between 2 Linux servers using FreeS/WAN
(network to network).

Right now, everything seems to ok (pluto says the tunnel is up, routes
looks ok, etc) except that not a single packet makes it through the
tunnel (ie. no ping).

First suspect was the firewall script (shorewall with all the settings
for ipsec), so I just dropped all rules on both severs and changed all
policies to ACCEPT (also checked for /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward =
1).

Here's my ipsec.conf (keys truncated for easy reading):
 START
config setup
interfaces=%defaultroute
klipsdebug=none
plutodebug=all
plutoload=%search
plutostart=%search

# defaults for subsequent connection descriptions
conn %default
keyingtries=0
disablearrivalcheck=no
authby=rsasig

conn bue-nqn
left=hoerbiger.ipdinamica.com   # Local vitals
leftsubnet=192.168.10.0/24  #
[EMAIL PROTECTED]#
leftrsasigkey=0sAQNMdaf0YJ00...
leftnexthop=%defaultroute # correct in many situations
right=hoerbiger-nqn.ipdinamica.com  # Remote vitals
rightsubnet=192.168.11.0/24 #
[EMAIL PROTECTED]   #
rightrsasigkey=0sAQN2C0tZXXY...
rightnexthop=%defaultroute # correct in many situations
auto=start  # authorizes but doesn't start
this
# connection at startup

 END

Notes, both ens are connected to internet with ADSL using dynamic IP,
that's why I used hostnames instead of IPs. That shouldn't be a problem
(at least until one of the ends gets a new IP).

I have the logs from both servers as well as some info from route,
ipsec, etc. If you can help, just tell me what you need and I'll send
it.

TIA!

Hi Lee,

You got it.

Finally (by chance) I discover the reason. The Power Supply has
two fans and one of the them was broken. It appears that after
a while running the Power Supply will get an overheat.

The case is a SuperMicro Case (I am really happy with that
case; I bought it two years ago and it was expensive but
I think it is worth valuable).

That Power Supply (300W) have a Red led and a beep system to
warn about the overheat power supply problem. So the beep I
used to hear was not from the computer was from the power
supply case (I had not idea ¡¡).

I have provisionally replaced the Power Supply with a 250W
power supply until I could get a fan replacement and put again
the original Power Supply.

Best regards and thanks to all persons on the list that have
helped with this problem.

SMP and kernel

2003-06-16 Thread Roger Oberholtzer

How many out there are using a Linux kernel compiled with SMP support on a
non-SMP (one processor) system?

We have, over the last year or so, found numerous problems when doing so.
Anyone else.

Problems encountered with SMP was compiled into the kernel that went away
when it was compiled out:

1. Serial port providing continuous data suddenly begins reporting
incorrect info on available data when run asynchronously (SIGIO).

2. Firewire disks causing kernel panic on system boot.

3. Continuously active TCP ports suddenly going 'quiet', when data is
indeed available.

Adding the 'nosmp' directive to the kernel command line offers no joy.
Only a compile without SMP solves these things. Every time.

I have been looking for a coherent thread about this that does not just
end with someone claiming the user is an idiot. I make mistakes, but I
know a trend when I see one.

This is just a query. Am I alone? Anyone else having issues here? Or know
of anyone making similarly bizarre claims?

(I would discuss kernel versions here, but I am not sure it is a simple
indicator. Also, the systems that show the problems have been dissimilar.)

I'm wondering why you're doing this in the first place. Why not just run
a uniproc kernel?

SCO reminds me more and more of the little mouse trying to suck an

Eew. Speaking of which, IBM reiterated their position today that their
UNIX license is, irrevocable and fully paid up. The fully paid up
piece caught my attention and I wondered: considering SCO's moral
outrage at IBM's misappropriation of SCO's IP, when would SCO start
returning IBM's licensing and royalty checks? I'm guessing Not Real

I've dealt with so far. Second, I'd really recommond that you post to

troubleshoot via this list, I ask for the output of ipsec auto --status

But really, post to the freeswan list.
