As Juergen pointed in another message, the bug here is in gcc and not in LyX.
We do test our stable releases, but still, if you want stability then it is
probably better to use 1.1.5fix2 (1.1.6fix2 still have some problems with
tables).

The whole idea of a float is that it might not appear where it is defined.
However, you can use the H float placement by putting [H] in latex mode at
the beginning of the float. You also need to put \usepackage{float} in the
preamble.
Note that since there is no room for the float, the result will be
text
 (lots of empty space)
pagebreak
figure
text

Another option, if you don't use a caption for the figure, is to just insert
the figure without using a float.

This is a good news. But I also have a bad news, which is that

Hi!
My favorite method with my novells and books is:

Layout -> Dokument Layout -> Dokument -> Fonts: Times -> Font Size: 12

Export as ps and do ps2pdf, it's beautiful! I just tested the 1.1.6fix1
direct pdf export possibility and it too looks very good.
Perhaps you should take a look at:

Edit -> Preferences -> Converters -> PDF
Mine is like that:

Format: pdf
GUI name: PDF
Extension: pdf
Viewer: gv

Of course, this is also something that could be implemented with the
integration of a good scripting language in LyX. :) That way, it could also

Well. It really doesn't here. See attached xev.log (a lot of irrelevant
stuff deleted) and lyx-key.log (I have opened a file from MRU, searched
for word "v\v{s}ichni" tried three times ESC, then closed via mouse,
and whole LyX was closed via C-q). It may be the case, that there is
something screwed up with my keyboard (I have out-of-stock Czech xkb
keyboard, which was switched off), but isn't there any help for me?

What about that?

Thanks for reply

Custom Headers / Footers

2001-05-23 Thread Marshall, Joshua

Hi all,

I'm a new user to Lyx and TeX, and am looking at using it instead of
Micro$oft Word for documenting our IT structure here.

What I'd like to know is if I'm able to customise the output to have a
graphic in the header and extra text in the footers of each page?

Would I do this with the defaults in TeX / the TeX Preamble part? How
would I do this?

Regards,
Josh Marshall.

So I guess that means that Perl is out of the question?

CJK-LyX-1.1.6fix2

2001-05-23 Thread cghan

Hello,

CJK-LyX-1.1.6fix2, a patched version of lyx-1.1.6fix2 for multi-byte
language users such as Chinese, Japanese and Koreans, is uploaded at the
usual ftp site,
ftp://stone.phys.pusan.ac.kr/pub/CJK-LyX

This is a good news. But I also have a bad news, which is that
because of the sudden hard disk corruption occurred yesterday I lost all
the data on the disk which included all the packages at the ftp
directories of the above site. I have tried to recover the loss but have
succeeded only partially. So, you may find that some of old CJK-LyX
packages are gone. However, if you really need those old CJK-LyX packages
for some reason, email me to
 mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]
and I'll try my best to help.

A little bit of updates of the CJK-LyX home page has also been made.
If interested, visit
http://cellular.phys.pusan.ac.kr/cjk.html

Mr. Jean-Marc Lasgouttes, could you make this announcement appear on the
lyx homepage? Some of CJK-LyX users do not seem to subscribe to this
mailing list.

Thank you,

cghan
