Perhaps a more sophisticated LyX-er (or are these suggestions for the .tex file?) will know.
confusing cross-references
Something is really screwy with the references in this simple document under LyX 1.6.7. The key sentence should get rendered in PDF (via pdflatex) as here be a formatted reference to figure 1, which lives in section 2: Figure 1 on page 1. and here be a reference to the float label: 1 Instead, it gets rendered as here be a formatted reference to figure 1, which lives in section 2: Figure 2 on page 1. and here be a reference to the float label: 2 In other words, instead of using the figure number, it's using the section number. Is this to be expected? \documentclass[english]{article} \usepackage[T1]{fontenc} \usepackage[latin9]{inputenc} \usepackage{babel} \usepackage{prettyref} \usepackage[unicode=true, bookmarks=true,bookmarksnumbered=false,bookmarksopen=false, breaklinks=false,pdfborder={0 0 0},backref=false,colorlinks=false] {hyperref} \hypersetup{ pdfauthor={Rage Guy}} \begin{document} \section{section one} here be a formatted reference to figure 1, which lives in section 2: \prettyref{fig:lorem-ipsum}. and here be a reference to the float label: \prettyref{Flo:Lorem-ipsum} \section{section two} % \begin{figure} \label{Flo:Lorem-ipsum}\label{fig:lorem-ipsum}Lorem ipsum \caption{fig in section two} \end{figure} \end{document}

Problems with new version
Dear Lyx users, I have a strange problem when using a newer version of Lyx. Here's my problem: I have written my thesis using Lyx 1.6.2. Now I have a new computer running Lyx 1.6.7. Both computers had Ubuntu linux running. Now the lyx file can be opened and compiled to pdf on the old computer but not on the new one that has the newer lyx version. I get the following error messages: \newpage {} The control sequence at the end of the top line of your error message was never \def'ed. If you have misspelled it (e.g., `\hobx'), type `I' and the correct spelling (e.g., `I\hbox'). Otherwise just continue, and I'll forget about whatever was undefined. Here is my latex preamble: %Zitieren nach ACS Konvention %\usepackage[usetitle=true]{achemsol} % Überschrift des Abkürzungsverzeichnisses \renewcommand{\nomname}{Symbols and Abbreviations} % Abstand zw. \newcommand{\theHalgorithm}{\arabic{algorithm}} % Trennungsregeln für Wörter, für die keine Regeln im Wörterbuch stehen \hyphenation{mole-cules} \hyphenation{de-scriptors} % pdfpages erlaubt das Einfügen externer pdf Dateien --> Lebenslauf am Schluss \usepackage{pdfpages} \usepackage[usetitle]{achemso} How do I get Info about what happened? If one could somehow take all the Preamble...EndPreamble code out of LyX styles and put it in the document preamble, the compile problems would go away. The only solution I can think of that doesn't involve reconstructing existing LyX files that distribute with LyX is a script that recurses through all included LyX files, removes LaTeX embedded in LyX styles, and moves it up to the document preamble, and then use THAT MASSIVE FILE as your layout file.
