the only remedy is that you either join our project to fix it
or patiently wait when the windows branch of developers solve
the situation.

well, you haven't write a single word about Uwe :) you write about reliable
source which leaves open doors for pretty wide interpretations and implications
for binary packge itself. from what i know there are currently problems as far
as unistalling previous lyx versions, issues with some cruft in system registry
etc. so the breakage can be apparent only after you will install some later
version. to announce availability of the packages without these warnings
is somewhat misleading no matter how we interpret what reliable source means...

 I have always found both branches very similar and have used many Uwe

I've been using Lyx 2.0, and I'm running into problems with hebrew as well.
I'm running gentoo-linux, so for me I installed ivritex, and culmus.
However, I still can't render the document, and get a bunch of undefined
control sequence errors.

I have 
\usepackage{culmus}
\usepackage{hebfont}

in my preamble (which, incidentally, I don't have to do for Greek).

The specific errors look like this:

You can always put the reference right next to the preceding word:
as seen[pageref]
will produce
as seen on this page
in output.

I don't remember if I ever needed to do that and why.


Another issue is that one of my references says 'on this page'  (in the last

of the page) but the table float is placed on the next page.
How can I correct this one?



I never had this. Is your label within the float?


One more question:
The varioref document says that the \reftextbefore etc. commands can be
redefined, but if babel is used it has to be done using babel mechanism.
It gives an example:

   }

What would be the command for magyar (Hungarian) language?
How can I find it out?


I would try replacing ngerman with magyar.

OK, you have the language package set to custom in document settings. If you 
set it to Automatic or Default, LyX will load polyglossia and suppress the 
greektext and cyrillictext definitions.

It's probably most sensible to suppress them with custom as well and leave all 
the responsibility to the user.
(Although I do not see why you don't use LyX's native polyglossia support)

warning: i have no actual experience with using hebrew and lyx... however
i will be interested to fix things in gentoo.

1) do you have culmus-latex installed?
2) i thought that ivritex is related to tetex which is dead,
   culmus-latex should be used instead.
   can some experienced hebrew user comment whether this is true?
3) it is possible to use use xetex with lyx 2.0.0.
   have you tried it?

Hi,

Sorry for the late reply. You are right that it can be tedious, but you 
could set up a script to automate it. You can use only one LyX file, in 
fact, by using the latex package called preview. Here's how:


In your document preamble:

\usepackage[active,pdftex,tightpage]{preview}
\PreviewMacro[!]{\xymatrix}

Then when you export to pdf, you get each xymatrix figure on its own 
page. Then use pdftk to extract each page (burst the pdf).

Hi,

Sorry for the late reply. You are right that it can be tedious, but you 
could set up a script to automate it. You can use only one LyX file, in 
fact, by using the latex package called preview. Here's how:


In your document preamble:

\usepackage[active,pdftex,tightpage]{preview}
\PreviewMacro[!]{\xymatrix}

Then when you export to pdf, you get each xymatrix figure on its own 
page. Then use pdftk to extract each page (burst the pdf).

well, you haven't write a single word about Uwe :) you write about reliable
source which leaves open doors for pretty wide interpretations and implications
for binary packge itself. from what i know there are currently problems as far
as unistalling previous lyx versions, issues with some cruft in system registry
etc. so the breakage can be apparent only after you will install some later
version. to announce availability of the packages without these warnings
is somewhat misleading no matter how we interpret what reliable source means...

Hi,

Sorry for the late reply. You are right that it can be tedious, but you 
could set up a script to automate it. You can use only one LyX file, in 
fact, by using the latex package called preview. Here's how:


In your document preamble:

\usepackage[active,pdftex,tightpage]{preview}
\PreviewMacro[!]{\xymatrix}

Then when you export to pdf, you get each xymatrix figure on its own 
page. Then use pdftk to extract each page (burst the pdf).

No, it's a feature. If no extension is specified, LaTeX (the graphics package,
for that matter) searches for the most suitable format for the given
