I'm not sure what you updated, but it looks as if
LaTeX simply isn't
finding the bst file.

I ran tex check... Then checked log - bibtex

It also looks as if LyX is copying it to your
temporary directory, and THEN LaTeX isn't finding it.
This may be due to
some changes in how local files are handled in 2.0.2.

Suspected that too and put it in the same folder as the
lyx doc, but also in tex folders I could think of and find
documentation of, but didn't help, maybe need to put in
yet another path, somebody knows where it's looking on
mac/unix?

I'd suggest that
you put the bst file in some location where LaTeX will
find it without
its having to be copied to the temporary directory.
Where this is on
Mac, I'm afraid I do not know.

After you get this error, you might also look in the
temporary
directory. Is the referenced file there?

Which tmp? Lyx?
Thanks

Transparency handling

2012-03-03 Thread Diego Queiroz
Hello.

I'm not sure if this is an old issue or not, but I was not able to find
some thread about this subject.

When I paste a picture in LyX (from the clipboard), it shows a dialog
asking where to save that picture and automatically inserts it on the
document.
This is OK and very useful, but if the picture has transparency (eg. a PNG
image with transparent background), all the transparency turns black.

The interesting part is that, if I save the picture somewhere else (without
using LyX), and then load the picture as usual on the document, this
problem doesn't occur. That is, all the transparency is handled as expected.

Is this a bug? Or is there a way to workaround this?

Cheers,

LyX 2.0.3 Released

2012-03-03 Thread Richard Heck

Public release of LyX version 2.0.3
===

We are pleased to announce the release of LyX 2.0.3. This is the third
maintenance release in the 2.0.x series.

LyX 2.0.3 is the result of on-going efforts to make our stable version
even more reliable and stable. We have fixed a number of bugs and made
a number of improvements. These are detailed below. We encourage all
LyX users to upgrade to this version.

LyX is a document processor that encourages an approach to writing based
on the structure of your documents and not simply their appearance. It is
released under a Free and Open Source Software license.

You can download LyX 2.0.3 from http://www.lyx.org/Download/.

If you think you found a bug in LyX 2.0.3, either e-mail the LyX
developers' mailing list (lyx-devel at lists.lyx.org), or open a bug
report at http://www.lyx.org/trac/wiki/BugTrackerHome.

If you have trouble using LyX or have a question, consult the
documentation that comes with LyX and the LyX wiki, which lives at
http://wiki.lyx.org/. If you can't find the answer there, e-mail the LyX
users' list (lyx-users at lists.lyx.org).

We hope you enjoy using LyX 2.0.3.

The LyX team.

What's new in LyX 2.0.3
===

There have been several more updates to LyX's Sweave support. Work on this
is expected to continue through the 2.0.x series.

LyX 2.0.3 still requires a python 2 interpreter, but steps have been taken
to avoid problems on systems where python 3 is the default python
interpreter.

A python 2 interpreter is now automatically detected and used. Additionally,
byte-compiled python files changed their installation target. Distribution
maintainers are encouraged to verify their patch sets.

There have again been several updates to the tex2lyx conversion script. Not
as many as with 2.0.2, but quite a few.

What's new
==

** Updates:
***

* DOCUMENT INPUT/OUTPUT

- Add support for `knitr', an alternative for Sweave on R = 2.14.1
  (bug 7887).

- Improved output of Comment notes for XHTML. These are now div's that are
  hidden by the default CSS.

- New layout and template file for articles in the Journal of the Acoustical
  Society of America (JASA).

- Speed up autosave a bit by not cloning child documents (bug 7923).

- Don't use the first python binary in the PATH environment variable if
  this is not a version 2.x binary, but try to find a suitable one.
  Note that this mechanism triggers only if the binary is invoked exactly
  as python -tt, which is the way it is done internally.

- Allow redirecting stderr in converters (other than stdout).

- Add LaTeX commands for unicode symbols U+200c, U+2011, U+2017, U+2027 and
  U+202f to be used with non-unicode LaTeX backends (bug 7998).

* TEX2LYX IMPROVEMENTS

- Support for included external files via the templates
  - PDF pages
  - Chess diagram
  - Spreadsheet

- tabular* environments are imported

- Formal tables are now supported (bug 4553).

- Support for change tracking commands (bug 4213).

* USER INTERFACE

- Added scalable LyX icon in svg format (bug 7919).

- Clarify what the user can do when hyperref is provided by the document
  class (bug 6293).

- Slightly reduced space around inset buttons, to make it clearer when
  there is a real space there (bug 7256).

- Let inset-toggle work for very large documents (bug 7945).

- Disable spell checker dialog for empty documents (bug 5585).

- Display some commands from mathtools.sty natively (bug 7949).

- Add the directory /usr/share/myspell as default location for dictionary
  lookup of hunspell spell checker backend (a common location on linux).
  Detect value change of preferences path to hunspell dictionaries
  to avoid the need for a restart. This is related to bug 7884.

- We now use the display string as a tooltip in the Outliner, if no
  other tooltip is given.

- Show check mark on current math limit type in EditMath submenu.

* DOCUMENTATION AND LOCALIZATION

- Customization manual updated to reflect the features of LyX 2.0.x.

- New Dutch user interface localization.

- Updated Czech, French, German, Indonesian, Interlingua, Italian,
  Japanese, Nynorsk, Slovak, Spanish, Swedish and Ukrainian user
  interface localizations.

- The Sweave manual was completely revised and is now also available in
  the menu Help-Specific Manuals (bug 7891).

- EmbeddedObjects manual:
  - new description how to color dashed table lines
  - new section how to split table cells by diagonal lines

- Updated description of the external material template PDFPages
  (bug 7888).

- Improved description of the modulo-functions in the Math manual (bug
7961).

* BUILD/INSTALLATION

- Make sure that we detect and use python 2 on systems where python 3
  is the default python interpreter.

- cmake, LYX_DEPENDENCIES_DOWNLOAD: look for the right filename on
SourceForge.

- Make compilation work with GCC 4.7.

- Support configure --with-packaging=posix on Mac OS X (bug

I'm still hoping to get floatrow integrated as a module though...

To that end, do you know how the module parameter UsesFloatPkg = false should

Name of table of contents in headers

2012-03-03 Thread William Seager
Hi all. This is more a latex problem than a lyx problem, but since
I'm using lyx I thought I'd ask here.

I have a complex document in which the table of contents
spans several pages.

My problem is that in the header the name of the table of contents,
(which is Contents) appears capitalized and emphasized (italics).

I found a bizarre way to turn off the capitalization in the header by
adding:

\let\stdtoc\tableofcontents
\renewcommand*\tableofcontents{{%
\renewcommand*\MakeUppercase[1]{##1}\stdtoc}}

to the preamble.

But the header remains emphasized.

I *can* turn off the emphasis by using this command:

\renewcommand{\contentsname}{\em Contents}

but then, of course, Contents appears emphasized
in the main body of the text.

Or, if I add the table of contents with this:

\renewcommand{\contentsname}{\textnormal {Contents}}\tableofcontents{}

then the header is perfect, but I lose the bold face I want
Contents to be in in the body of the text.

The headers throughout the rest of the document are
perfect and I don't want to mess with them.

It's a minor problem but it is bothering me.

TIA,

===

The LyX team.
http://www.lyx.org

What's new in LyX 2.0.3
===

What's new
==

** Updates:
***

* DOCUMENT INPUT/OUTPUT

* TEX2LYX IMPROVEMENTS

- Support for included external files via the templates
  - PDF pages
  - Chess diagram
  - Spreadsheet

- tabular* environments are imported

- Formal tables are now supported (bug 4553).

- Support for change tracking commands (bug 4213).

* USER INTERFACE

- Added scalable LyX icon in svg format (bug 7919).

- Clarify what the user can do when hyperref is provided by the document
  class (bug 6293).

* DOCUMENTATION AND LOCALIZATION

7961).

* BUILD/INSTALLATION

Thanks Csikos, that definitely demonstrates the output style I'm after.

I'm still hoping to get floatrow integrated as a module though...

To that end, do you know how the module parameter UsesFloatPkg = false should
behave? I had hoped this would let me specify a Float but then define it's
function in Preamble, etc. However LyX continues to try and build the new float
type using \newfloat etc as before. I suppose I could try to redefine those
commands...

Name of table of contents in headers

2012-03-03 Thread William Seager
Hi all. This is more a latex problem than a lyx problem, but since
I'm using lyx I thought I'd ask here.

I have a complex document in which the table of contents
spans several pages.

My problem is that in the header the name of the table of contents,
(which is Contents) appears capitalized and emphasized (italics).

I found a bizarre way to turn off the capitalization in the header by
adding:

\let\stdtoc\tableofcontents
\renewcommand*\tableofcontents{{%
\renewcommand*\MakeUppercase[1]{##1}\stdtoc}}

to the preamble.

But the header remains emphasized.

I *can* turn off the emphasis by using this command:

\renewcommand{\contentsname}{\em Contents}

but then, of course, Contents appears emphasized
in the main body of the text.

Or, if I add the table of contents with this:

\renewcommand{\contentsname}{\textnormal {Contents}}\tableofcontents{}

then the header is perfect, but I lose the bold face I want
Contents to be in in the body of the text.

The headers throughout the rest of the document are
perfect and I don't want to mess with them.

It's a minor problem but it is bothering me.

TIA,

After you get this error, you might also look in the
temporary
directory. Is the referenced file

===

If you think you found a bug in LyX 2.0.3, either e-mail the LyX
developers' mailing list (lyx-devel lists.lyx.org), or open a bug
report at http://www.lyx.org/trac/wiki/BugTrackerHome.

===

What's new
==

** Updates:
***

* DOCUMENT INPUT/OUTPUT

- Add support for `knitr', an alternative for Sweave on R >= 2.14.1

  Note that this mechanism triggers only if the binary is invoked exactly
  as "python -tt", which is the way it is done internally.

- Allow redirecting stderr in converters (other than stdout).

- Add LaTeX commands for unicode symbols U+200c, U+2011, U+2017, U+2027 and
  U+202f to be used with non-unicode LaTeX backends (bug 7998).

* TEX2LYX IMPROVEMENTS

- Support for included external files via the templates
  - PDF pages
  - Chess diagram
  - Spreadsheet

- tabular* environments are imported

- Formal tables are now supported (bug 4553).

- Support for change tracking commands (bug 4213).

* USER INTERFACE

- Added scalable LyX icon in svg format (bug 7919).

- Clarify what the user can do when hyperref is provided by the document
  class (bug 6293).

- Show check mark on current math limit type in Edit>Math submenu.

* DOCUMENTATION AND LOCALIZATION

- Customization manual updated to reflect the features of LyX 2.0.x.

- New Dutch user interface localization.

- Updated Czech, French, German, Indonesian, Interlingua, Italian,
  Japanese, Nynorsk, Slovak, Spanish, Swedish and Ukrainian user
  interface localizations.

- The Sweave manual was completely revised and is now also available in
  the menu Help->Specific Manuals (bug 7891).

- EmbeddedObjects manual:
  - new description how to color dashed table lines
  - new section how to split table cells by diagonal lines

- Updated description of the external material template PDFPages
  (bug 7888).

- Improved description of the modulo-functions in the Math manual (bug
7961).

* BUILD/INSTALLATION

- Make sure that we detect and use python 2 on systems where python 3
  is the default python interpreter.

- cmake, LYX_DEPENDENCIES_DOWNLOAD: look for the right filename on
SourceForge.

- Make compilation work with GCC 4.7.

- Support configure --with-packaging=posix on Mac OS X

My problem is that in the header the name of the table of contents,
(which is "Contents") appears capitalized and emphasized (italics).

I found a bizarre way to turn off the capitalization in the header by
adding:

\let\stdtoc\tableofcontents
\renewcommand*\tableofcontents{{%
\renewcommand*\MakeUppercase[1]{##1}\stdtoc}}

to the preamble.

But the header remains emphasized.

I *can* turn off the emphasis by using this command:

\renewcommand{\contentsname}{\em Contents}

but then, of course, "Contents" appears emphasized
in the main body of the text.

Or, if I add the table of contents with this:

\renewcommand{\contentsname}{\textnormal {Contents}}\tableofcontents{}

then the header is perfect, but I lose the bold face I want
"Contents" to be in in the body of the text.

The headers throughout the rest of the document are
perfect and I don't want to mess with them.

It's a minor problem but it is bothering me.

TIA,
