open graphics inset with ctrl-i
Hi list, recently io changed to lyx-2.0.0 and am very content with it ;-) For my needs there is a little regression wrt to lyx-1.6.7: In lyx-1.6.7 it was possible to open a graphics inset with the keyborad shortcut ctrl+i when the text cursor was directly before the inset. This does not work any longer. Bug or feature? short cut for graphic inset ctl+i
Hi list, recently I upgraded from lyx-1.6.7 to lyx 2.0.0 and I'm very happy with the new version. With one small exception: I have a document which contains more than 70 images. I put them into the document using a bash-script. And now I have to modify some of these images individually. With 1.6.7 I could put the cursor before the image and with ctl+i pen the inset dialogue. This doesn't work any longer. New feature? Or what can I do to reactivate this functionality? System: Lenovo T61 with Xubuntu-11.04 TIA Thanks for your engagement for this super program ;-) Hellmut -- Dr. Hellmut Weber m...@hellmutweber.de Degenfeldstraße 2 tel +49-89-3081172 D-80803 München-Schwabing mobil +49-172-8450321 please: No DOCs, no PPTs. why: tinyurl.com/cbgq

Underline in lyx-2.0.0
Hi list, I just installed lyx-2.0.0.0 beside lyx-1.6.7 as of July 10th 2010 (my working version for the last year). Everything I used so far is working quite well on documents I have created with lyx-1.6.7. Many thanks for your efforts which went into lyx-2.0. I'm working with lyx-2.0.0, generated from tarball which gives me the date of April, 29th 2011 on Xubuntu-10.10 In a document I'm actually working on I want to follow the man-pages format as closely as possible, thus I used some underlined strings. With lyx-1.6.7 it worked, with lyx-2.0.0.0 the textstyle submenu gives me the choice underlined but when compiling the document I get an error: Undefined control sequence. lyx-1.6.7 creates an '\underbar'-macro which works, lxy-2.0 creates an '\uline'-macro which produces this error. Can I do anything in this situation? To find the place where this default is set I've been looking in ~/.lyx/preferences, /usr/share/lyx, ~/.config/Lyx, ~/.gconf, ~/.gconfig with no result. So, can somebody gice me a hint where the default paths for the converter calls are hidden? Similarly, I would like to use '.' as the default path for saving new lyx documents. Changing the corresponding setting in the menu >>tools >settings >paths >home (retranslated from my german version of lyx) I can change that location but the change is not remembered when I open lyx the next time. Any ideas on this? Hi Rob, thanks for your quick answer ;-) Now i got the layout file. I ran into little problems because it seems the document class has been designed using lyx 2.0, and I#m still using 1.6.6.1. Re: texMemo layoutfile
Hi Rob, I'm sorry about that Hellmut, I've been using LyX 2.0 exclusively for months and I tend to forget that layou files and enhancements released for the newer versions will not always work with the old. Glad to hear that you got it working, though. I didn't dare so far, because LyX is my most important tool. Most of my work on the computer is preparing texts of different types. And for _all_ my documents I use LyX. (Having invested a bit of time in my personalized templates, in the majority of cases I don't have to think about the formal part of my document.) If you run into any other problems, please let me know. Also, if there are any feature enhancements you think would be worthwhile, that would also be good to hear. Though I feel somewhat guilty about it, I like using the mailing list as a laboratory for different projects. There is a tremendously diverse group of people here and I get a wide range of feedback that helps to improve my various projects. It's an interesting approach, which I appreciate. BTW My Admiration for your web site: Very appealing, very interesting topics, very interesting links (Tufte I knew already and am glad about that ;-) Certainly I will tweak your template a bit to get closer to my personal standards. If you are interested in the result I can send it to you when I have reached a state acceptable for me. Features which would be interesting for me (and maybe for somebody else): * I would like a cc: line in the header part Certainly simple to realize similar to the to/from parts * Permit a another placement of the logo e.g. in the upper left corner I've no experience yet with LyX insets, so ? * Permit some sort of textual logo (for people who know some LaTeX like me using different fonts, sizes, color, etc.) An elementary form could be an ERT block instead of the graphics inset but I don't have any idea how to do that in lyx * Offer fancy headers and footers (I'm somewhat compulsive wrt Author/Copyright and date on _every_ page of my documents, even memos ;-) Could probably be done on LaTeX level already in the preamble ? * Maybe using koma's scrartcl class would give more flexibility (as german LyX user I use it quite a lot) I thought about a document type of this sort already, but the need was not yet sufficiently strong. (I have to admit that quite a lot of things I do is event-driven. I've learned to live with this situation.) TIA and happy LyXing Hellmut I don't know if it would work, but you could try Insert TeX Code just before the index, and fill this TeX Code box with \thispagestyle{plain} or \thispagestyle{fancy} If this doesn't work, you at least have some more keywords to try in google. Cheers, Julien Hi Julien, thanks for your reply ;-) You proposal helped me to pin down the effect somewhat more. Since i'm using the koma scrlttr2 class i had to use the command \thispagestyle{scrheadings} (which is used in my stye file for this document too. This doesn't solve my problem, though. It seems that the LaTeX command \printindex{} which is generated by LyX is the culprit. I suppose it issues a command like \thispagestyle{empty} because it is starting sort of a new chapter. Following this route i found a workaround. Her it is (in the hope that may be helpful for somebody else) * export my lyx file to LaTeX (pdflatex) * run pdflatex from the command line on this a first time (which generates an *.idx file) * run makeindex on this file (without extension) (which generates an *.ind file which will be input during the next pdflatex run) In my reply to your personal account i forgot the most important point ,-( *** Edit the *.ind file *** After the first line \begin{theindex} add the line \thispagestyle{scrheadings} * final run of pfdlatex on the *.tex source file And here we are, the first page of the index has the desired header and footer lines.
