tables within an enumerated list ?

1999-07-24 Thread Ronald Florence

I want a table under one item of an enumerated list, with subsequent
items numbered in sequence:

1. This is the first item, which has a table under it.

stuff blah, blah, blah
junkblah, blah, blah
crudblah, blah, blah

2. This is the second item which will be followed by more.

When I try this with LyX, it insists on restarting the enumeration
at `1.' for the item after the table. I've even tried making the
enumerated list and sneaking the table in with cut and paste -- to no
avail.

How do I get a table inside an enumerated list? Thanks,

NT port of lyx-1.0.1 startup ?

1999-06-08 Thread Ronald Florence

I'm trying to run the http://www.cs.u.nl/~stevens/lyx.html port of
Lyx-1.0.1 on an ms-win-NT laptop. The lyx binary installed easily,
and found the local installation of TeX during configuration. When I
try Runlyx.bat, I get a LyX popup on the X-server telling me to check
the location of `Textclass.lst' and a note that Lyx is quitting. The
ms-dos script of the Runlyx.bat file gets as far as running runlyx.sh,
and reports

LyXTextClassList::read: unable to find textclass file
   `~unknown_path'. Exiting.

The file `Textclass.lst' is in the default installation location.

I'd appreciate hearing from anyone who has installed this package
successfully. The X-server on the NT-laptop runs fine with LyX
running on a remote Unix machine.

Thanks for wisdom, war stories, or suggestions. Regards,

Re: remote display of LyX on a MicroImages X-server on NT

1999-05-31 Thread Ronald Florence

I've been trying to figure out why LyX core-dumps when I try to run it
with the display on a PC laptop running the MicroImages X-server. The
X-server works with other programs. When I start LyX, it displays,
then crashes with the messages:

  BadFont (invalid Font parameter)
  Abort (core dumped)

At Jean-Marc's suggestion, I checked the fonts.dir on the PC X-server
and ran LyX with -dbg 515; the last error message is

  BufferView::Redraw()

Adb on the core dump gives the following stack trace:

ron@rosie% adb /usr/local/src/lyx-1.0.0/src/lyx
core file = core -- program ``lyx'' on platform SUNW,SPARCstation-20
SIGABRT: Abort
$c
_libc_kill(?) + 8
_vt.16InsetSpecialChar(0xef4e2eb4,0x,0xefffed10,0x200,0x7fff,0x) +
10854
LyX_XErrHandler__FP9_XDisplayP11XErrorEvent(0x26f4b0,0xefffef88,0x0,0x20,0xe0fc,0xef60f3f8)
 + ac

I'm stumped, and I'd really like to be able to run LyX remotely on the
laptop. Thanks for any sugestions and wisdom.

remote display of LyX on a MicroImages X-server on NT

1999-05-24 Thread Ronald Florence

I use LyX-1.0.0 on Sparc Solaris machines. I recently tried
displaying LyX on an X-Server (MicroImages) on my laptop running
ms-windows-NT. I got as far as the display of LyX, which looked
great, then LyX crashed with these messages:

BadFont (invalid Font parameter)
Abort (core dumped)

I'd appreciate suggestions on how to get this to work: do I need
additional fonts on the X-server or a different configuration for LyX
to display on the PC X-server? Has anyone done it successfully?

Failing that, I'd welcome suggestions on how to debug LyX's protest
and core dump.

Thanks,

compose-key (lyx-1.1.1, Solaris-2.6)

1999-01-02 Thread Ronald Florence

With a plain vanilla install of lyx-1.1.1 (with the patches for the
fax and export-custom commands), the Compose key no longer works
reliably on our Sparc-Solaris-2.6 workstations. It does work with
Lyx-1.0.0, using the identical configuration files..
