This is natural, as the complete document combines all files, so the interfering code is in there of course. Ah, all other above-written things looks good, it's only this (malefic) symbol... And the symbol looks good if not used as above-written. It looks like you use a math box to get the (R) in the upper index position, right? Maybe you use DocumentSettingsMath: use AMS auto and the AMS package has problems here? Try DocumentSettingsMath: use AMS always for a consistent behaviour. Adding space to end of sentence adds spaces inside character styles
Hi all, I just had a situation with two character style insets inside a sentence. When I add spaces or other characters at the end of the sentence, spaces or other characters are added inside the insets. I'm using 1.5.3. You can see this behavior with the attached spacebug.lyx. Place the cursor after the final period in the file, and press the space bar multiple times. If it works the same on your machine/lyx as mine, you'll see the insets grow. Waving the mousepointer above the insets gets rid of the spaces, but it's still distracting. The attached example uses character styles not in the Book document class. However, even with a (custom made) document class defining those character styles, the behavior is the same. If versions later than 1.5.3 display this behavior, the developers might consider changing it, as it's very unexpected and somewhat disturbing. Re: lyxfun to goto line in source
I wonder, whether there is a lyx function that can be used to place the cursor in the relevant line. one possibility would be use paragraph-goto but it will be quite tricky to get the right number of paragraph. not every indexing number here has its own counter part in visible document etc... (There is a function called server-goto-file-row, however, I did not find out what exactly it is supposed to do or what arguments it expects.) purpose of this function is to set the cursor based on the given TeX source row. so other possibility would be to do your grep over generated tex file and pass the result via this function. pavel

(There is a function called server-goto-file-row, however, I did not find out what exactly it is supposed to do or what arguments it expects.) purpose of this function is to set the cursor based on the given TeX source row. so other possibility would be to do your grep over generated tex file and pass the result via this function. pavel

(There might be a way of re-defining the internally used command that sets the font size to change the font as well, but this will have unwanted side-effects.) OTOH, in most formulas you will need both, italic and roman indices, as the usual convention (e.g. IUAPAP document U.I.P 20 "Symbols, units and nomenclature in physics") is to use italic for indices that derive from symbols and roman for indices that derive from names and abbreviations. So, if the k in S_k is an abbreviation for "kool", say, it should be upright, if it is a running index or stands for the wave vector, it should be italic. Günter

It looks like you use a math box to get the (R) in the upper index position, right? Maybe you use Document>Settings>Math: use AMS auto and the AMS package has problems here? Try Document>Settings>Math: use AMS always for a consistent behaviour. (Well, this might in the first place be "no (R) index in any file.) Try Text in Math: (Ctrl-M for a math-box, ^ for upper index, Ctrl-M for text-in math) If all fails, provide a minimal example. GM
