No worries...I'm sure there are some followers in your part of the world. FWIW, I offer repair service for most 8 bit architectures and other vintage electronic devices. However, I'm located in Italy, the second most expensive country for shipping costs that I'm aware of. Frank

At the moment...I'm just asking out of curiosity because the club100.org site is in limbo. - I'm very close to starting to offer general 8-bit repairs, though I'm still selective about the jobs I take (mostly due to parts and experience). As Jeff asked, what exactly is the issue with your machine?
[M100] repair services
It was me:) In general I though it would be a good idea to have some go to people for repairs. Specifically, I was going to get a unit that had some screen issues so I could donate it to a YouTube guy for a series he is working on.
Re: [M100] NEC 8201 rechargeable battery packs and BERG jacks
Thanks, everyone. Kurt, that looks really good. I’m not familiar with those smaller batteries. How or where do you get them? Is there any simple mod (such as the added resistor near the batteries for the M100) that allows the 8201 to charge rechargeable batteries in a standard battery pack when plugged in? Re: [M100] NEC 8201 rechargeable battery packs and BERG jacks
I have refurbished 4 NEC battery packs. One I did with 4 NiCad batteries. the other with4 NiMH. Both charge and work fine, but exhibit the problem where the low battery light comes one after about 45 minutes even though there are hours left in the pack. This is true of the original NiCad batteries as well. The other two I built up using ten 1/3 AA NiMH batteries. Basically two banks of 5 batteries. I really like the way these work. The only problem I have had was that on the initial charges, the low battery light never came on and the unit just died when the batteries were too low. But after doing three or four charge/discharge cycles, I get a low battery light when there are about 30 minutes of change left. These are the two packs that stay in my units almost all the time and I will probably rebuild my other 4 battery packs this way. Re: [M100] Tandy 200 azerty rom
I must have one, somewhere. AZERTY is also the Belgian standard - you get used to it - but for my hobby-TRS-80 computers I prefer QWERTY: less compatibility problems. I'd have to look for itI don't have any use for it, so I could ship it to you, you make a copy, and ship it back, just in case I do need it for someone. Anyway, I have to find it first. How urgent is this? And for those that think it could be easy to build your own, it isn't, because the AZERTY also caters for accented characters using 'dead' keys: eg. strike ` and a after each other, and you get à. And you also need some specials, like ç. I own 1 model 100, 2 model 200 and also olivetti m10 and nec 8201a and 8300. And a lot of other vintage computer. I have a model 200 with azerty keyboard. But I havn't the Azerty rom in it. My question is: do someone have an azerty rom dump file? So i'll try To burn it. Of course if someone have an azerty rom chip available, I'm also very interested. Rgds, J Barbe

Re: [M100] NEC 8201 rechargeable battery packs and BERG jacks
As far as I'm aware, no NiMH manufacturer recommends trickle-charging; the OEM rechargeable pack used NiCd, not NiMH. Using NiMH in the regular pack works fine, and if you charge the cells individually in a smart charger like the Maha C-9000 you'll get quite a few more cycles, IME. [M100] NEC 8201 rechargeable battery packs and BERG jacks
Hi - hope everyone is having a good weekend. Has anyone ever used the DuPont BERG jacks on the NEC-8201? The manual describes them as 19,200 baud serial ports, basically. Wondering for what they might be useful. Also, does anyone have experience refurbishing a rechargeable battery pack for the 8201 with modern rechargeable batteries? Does this work and does the battery pack still charge well from the original power supply, despite much higher modern capacities? Is one better off just using rechargeable batteries in a regular battery pack? Is there a way to adapt a regular pack to charge rechargeable batteries? Thanks - lots of questions... Best wishes, Anthony
