Yeah, the gripe you have with Walgreens is something they have had since
accepting Apple Pay from the get go. It's stupid in my opinion, and everyone
else's opinion as well. Maybe one day if they can have a enough customer
complaints they will drop the requirement for inputting your card pin. Until
then it's nothing but a great big annoyance.

Speaking of changes…Kroger will not accept ApplePay, so we shop at
Meijer…Walgreens has always accepted ApplePay from the beginning..

Some chip registers still ask for you to enter you PIN, but NEVER has anyone
ask for my PIN when using ApplePay, there is NO reason for this, Apple’s system
is so safe, the only way for us to be hurt is for Apple to be hacked.

However yesterday when checking out of Walgreens, I used the Watch to pay, and
it ASK FOR MY PIN. I never like giving this but I had no choice. I have
written to Walgreens telling them of my dislike….possibly a Chip card could be
stolen and using the PIN is a way to verify, but with the iPhone or Apple Watch
there is no need…if I lose either they still can’t shop with it without
fingerprint authorization or knowing my 6 number sequence to unlock the phone.

Maybe it’s swatting at a gnat but I alway like letting folks defend their
position…we’ll see if they even answer me.

This is getting weird. When I first looked a few minutes ago it said “Costco
Anywhere Visa Card is ready for Apple Pay.” A few minutes later it changed to
“Costco Anywhere Visa Card will be ready for Apple Pay when updates are
complete.” A few minutes later it changed back to “Costco Anywhere Visa Card is
ready for Apple Pay.”

It doesn’t really matter because the only place I ever use it is Costco and
their crippled card machines don’t support contactless payments.

For whatever it’s worth, I have a Citi/Costco personal Visa that’s registered
with Apple Pay.

Thanks for the info. I can't hear on phone but left messages on their message
center where they claim they will answer in 4 hours but 26 hours later no
response. I have Wells Fargo Visa card and will just use that at Costco. Citi
is not up to date with progress. Ridiculous.

Re: [MacGroup] Costco visa

2016-06-28 Thread John Robinson
Here is the reason Tom:

Costco credit card dropping Apple Pay - Citibank Business

On June 20, Costco is changing credit cards from Amex to Citibank. If you have
Costco business membership, you must have a business card. This was fine with
Amex since business cards support Apple Pay. Citibank on the other hand does
not allow any business credit card to work with Apple Pay and after several
weeks of calls, I find they have no plans to fix it. After 3 weeks of calls to
Costco and Citbank here is the deal: if you have a Costco business credit card
you must cancel the new card when it arrives, go to Costco cancel your
membership, and sign up for a NEW personal membership, then APPLY for a new
personal Citi card!

Anyone affected by this should call both Costco and Citi (use the Costco 800 #
to get to Citi) and let them know they should:
1. Citi should support Apple Pay for all cards. But for now:
2. Citi should allow you to apply for a personal card even if you have a
business Costco membership.

Also: Amex personal and business cards support Apple Pay notifications.
Purchases show up on the iPhone and watch seconds after made. Citibank does not
support notifications and from what I heard don't know what they are!
