The stop only works in a playlist. If you are in the main library of iTunes
there is only play and pause.

I know which is the Apple key; the command keys.

However it wasn't until a couple of years ago that I realized that the two
command keys one on each side of the space bar) had the same function. I was
assuming that one replaced the open apple key and the other the closed apple
key. Duh!

And thanks Ed for the information on stopping a song in iTunes.

An early reference to an 88 version of something-or-other (1988?).
I believe I've heard that having given rise to the Command key.

Bernard, I wondered about that, too. I faintly remembered old times,
when it did not say command .I still think they should put an apple
there rather than this little whatever that is called, which I don't
know either.
I like that apple Tom has beside his name. That should be on the
command key.

2010-12-20 Thread John Robinson
Anne,

I am on version 10.1.4, OSX 10.6.5 I have never encountered what you are
describing, to play or stop you click on the play arrow in the upper left
corner of iTunes, click the arrow to stop, or use the spacebar to stop and
start. I quite iTunes in the middle of a song and reopened without it resuming
the song.

You have written about a few things being wacky recently, if I had these things
happening I would rebuild the directory with DiskWarrior. Anytime I start
getting nutty things going on doing the DiskWarrior dance stops it cold. Maybe
I have just been lucky.
