Hi!
thanks for the pdf link :)
The only problem is that the PDF was last updated on february 2012,
where as the website was last updated on april 2013. most of the
documentation seems to be the same, but, some info on making apps
accessible seems to be missing at a quick glance. The PDF will also
not have information about iOs6. are things significantly different in
the initial stage of app development?
the zoom in-zoom out does not seem to work for me. could you give more
info on how to do the window-resize technique?
Thank you

ABBYY fine reader updates

2013-08-20 Thread Phil Halton
How can I determine the latest version of ABBYY fine reader express? And,
when updating, do I need to uninstall the old before installing the new?
is uninstalling simply a matter of trashing the app from the apps folder? ABBYY

I can download an updates.dmg. My current version, just bought and downloaded

Re: ABBYY fine reader updates

2013-08-20 Thread Anne Robertson
Hello Phil,

Don't worry about updates. You'll be notified about them from the Mac Appstore
and there's no uninstalling to be done. The confusion comes because ABBYY
FineReader for Mac was available before the Appstore existed and some of us
bought it then, so we have to get our updates from the website.

As for scanning multiple pages, you can do it with ABBYY FineReader, but it's
pretty laborious. You have to click Resume and then go back to the scanner
window to click Scan, and so on and so forth until you've done all the pages
you want.

I prefer to scan with VueScan and just use FineReader to perform the OCR but
that means laying out more money.

Cheers,

Anne

Re: probleming reading apple developer documentation

2013-08-20 Thread Barry Hadder
Hi,

You really don't need to be concerned about the dates of the two documents.
Development isn't different at all as far as what you will do in this tutorial.
Unless you role your own UI elements, everything is pretty much accessible out
of the box. The thing they talk about are things you can figure out fairly
easily just from perusing around the XCode inspectors.

You open the window resize options menu with vo-shift-tilda. Then go into the
resize menu and choose the edge you want to move and press enter. Then move
the appropriate arrow keys. You should hear a s sound and vo will speak
information. If If not, then the edge is as far as it will go. When you're
done, press escape.

I only put this because knowing how to do this can be helpful in other
situations, but I don't think it is necessary here. I think the pdf is
sufficient All though I hope they post the updated one soon. I also think you
need to know that from what I have seen, this problem with Safari is being
addressed.

Re: ABBYY fine reader updates

Hello Phil,

Your messages prompted me to check for updates and the latest version is dated
June 7 of this year. If that's the one you've got, then no problems.

If you need to update FineReader, make sure the application is closed, then do
the installation as usual and it will automatically replace the old version.
Your serial number should be carried over to the new version without you having
to do anything.

Remember to repair permissions after installing new software.

I do the same kliphton, and for the same reason. Jonathan is right, it isn't
really a big deal, but I don't like that little quirk. I'm wondering if
SharpKeys will also work for windows8? I plan to eventually install that OS
later in the fall and would like to keep the same method in place for
consistency.
