Hi Jonathan,
The problem you are describing is one that all of the GPS programs have,
because the point that they are looking at is not the door, but some other
arbitrary point that has been said by the folks to make a Maps. If you have a
program such as nearby explorer, you can set your own point, which would be the
door or whatever you were trying to find. And the "Geo beam" feature is very
helpful here as well. But the first time you go to the store or the restaurant,
of course you won't have set that point. So you would be in the same fix that
you would be in if you were using the regular apple maps. The nice thing about
these programs is the ability to set these favorites, but of course you have to
set them before you can use them.

The files are stored right to a card which are available with a standard
reader. I can’t speak for the GoPro specific software but once the files are
in the Mac you can edit them in other tools as normal. There’s a nice big
button to press to start and stop recording and you can voice trigger the new
one. My assistant got one for Christmas and got this accessory package meant
specifically for it that is quite the full setup. He even has all these
underwater housings. I keep telling him when James Cameron picks him up I’m
more than happy to carry his bag for him anywhere he needs to go.;). We use a
bunch of these cameras on the drones as well especially the custom made ones so
for what the original poster was wanting they will do just fine. They are good
enough though to do Comercial broadcasting with the right operator. I need to
improve my recovery record but if I can I”ll start putting them in rockets.
Right now though we keep losing the rockets when they go out of site. I need
some sort of GPS tracker for the rocket retrieval because we lose them when
their parachutes open but they blow down range miles . I don’t want to lose a
$500 Camera setup in the lake.:). I also have a 1/5th scale gas powered car
that I mount GoPro cameras on. We put a mount right where the driver would be
so it looks like you’re looking out the windshield. It will do about 70 MPH
full out in a field or open area. The 0 to 60 is also faster than just about
any car. It’s basically a small plastic truck with a chainsaw engine and a
remote controller.:). I have some examples on youtube.

I’m not sure however how accessible the Go Pro desktop software products are
once you have the video saved to a computer etc.

I know the similar device I had a look at the software for the device wasn’t
anywhere near usefull.

Hi!
This isn’t VoiceOver specific but i hope some one can clarify things for me a
bit.
I searched for one of my favorites on friday which actually are the Blues
Brothers.
It came up with all results i wanted including the soundtrack for the movie.
However to my surprise some songs didn’t play which made me first think that
there was a problem with The apple music service.
But it wasn’t when i tried the same soundtrack album yesterday.
That made me check the Itunes Store to see if they had the album there.
And yes they did.
And you know that you can listen to small amounts of the songs from the album
when you view the songs list?
Now here on this album the songs that didn’t play on apple music wasn’t able to
priview in Itunes Store either.
There was only a button named album only and when pressing that button nothing
happens.
So i am wondering whats going on here?
Why are some songs able to play and others can’t be found or are unplayable in
just one album?
Any thoughts on this?
Thanks in advance.

Hello All,

I was just experimenting with the native iOS Maps app today and, as many of
you already know, if one sets the tracking feature to, "On+Heading", then
places VoiceOver focus on the, "My Location", area of the screen, as one
travels down a road, cross street names and intersection info is quite
accurately announced.

In fact, I enjoy this feature so much so that I am beginning to use the Maps
app instead of Seeing Eye GPS or Nearby Explorer, when merely traveling down
a street, with no particular destination in mind.

There is, however, kind of a drawback in using the Maps app for intersection
announcements, as least as far as I am concerned; said drawback being that,
in addition to accurately providing intersection information, such as the
names of cross streets, Maps also continuously announces points-of-interests
as they are passed. For me, this is too much information, especially when
traveling in a vehicle as the announcements become somewhat cluttered. My
personal preference would be to have intersection/cross street
announcements, only.

Does anyone know if there is a way to disable POI announcements in Maps?

If POI announcements could be disabled, in the scenario I have described
above, then the native iOS Maps app could quite easily make it possible for
those of us who are visually challenged to enjoy basic GPS navigation
without having to incur additional cost by purchasing third-party GPS
navigation solutions.

I hope that those of you who participate in the iOS beta program will pass
this topic and suggestion along to Apple developers.

Thank you,

Mark

And also, with regards to the comment of boot in to recovery mode and run first

Only do that from a USB device or similar as if your booting to the
problematic drive from the functioning OS then your trying to correct what you
are currently using.
 This doesn't really work well.

Booting to a USB or flash drive with bootable OS setup puts you on to a device
that is not working the HD or ssd in the machine.

Hi Gabe,

Not sure what has happened there but I'd be inclined to try reinstalling again
using the recovery that’s holding down command + R at start up and hold those
down for approx. 20 seconds, it doesn't need to be that long but I just do that
to make sure it starts up in the correct mode.

Then step through the installation again as you would normally hopefully it
will fix any issues you have with the current install and it wont wipe anything

 Good luck.

Creating a new folder, then dragging it into the media library!
I don't even know how to do this.

If playing a folder is too complicated, can anyone recommend a nice simple

folders?

Thanks very much.

Re: Od apple music Issue.

2017-01-08 Thread Ray Foret jr
Happened to me too. The issue seems to be that some material will not play on
Apple Music due to the fact that the owner of the material in question has not
authorized their material to stream on Apple Music. That’s my guess based both
on what happened to me and your description.

Re: Accessible camera for dog's collar

2017-01-08 Thread Scott Granados

Od apple music Issue.

2017-01-08 Thread Anders Holmberg
/A

Re: What's Up application and Voiceover

You don’t have to sell me Andrew.:). I work in telecommunications. I know all
about what happens on a very large scale. The level of data collection is
astounding. Some of the more interesting encryption technologies seem pretty
effective and were specifically referenced in the Snoden leak. I believe
iMessage is encrypted but I’m not ready to bet money on that, it may be
available somehow. I do know WhatsApp will do exactly what you want to do with
the end clients being able to authenticate end to end and you can rekey pretty
aggressively.

In fact, I enjoy this feature so much so that I am beginning to use the
 Maps
app instead of Seeing Eye GPS or Nearby Explorer, when merely traveling
 down
a street, with no particular destination in mind.

There is, however, kind of a drawback in using the Maps app for
 intersection
announcements, as least as far as I am concerned; said drawback being that,
in addition to accurately providing intersection information, such as the
names of cross streets, Maps also continuously announces
 points-of-interests
as they are passed.

 Thank you,

 Mark

Re: Computer not booting after updating to Sierra

2017-01-08 Thread Jonathan Cohn
File Vault is probably what is going on here. You can on at least some
computers turn on voice prompts for the FileVault login with command F5. But
certainly the fact that it powers off without really booting is what happens to
me if I don't enter Username/Password after power on.

Best wishes,

Is it possible that you have File Vault enabled? If so, the beep you here is
the prompt to enter your username. If you are successful, you will hear two
more beeps. This is the queue to enter your password. Upon successful
entering of your password, you will hear three beeps and the computer will

Re: Play a folder in VLC on Mac, is this possible?

2017-01-08 Thread Erik Burggraaf
I have not actually owned a mac for a few months now, but this always
worked for me. I stopped upgrading at Yosemity and possibly that makes a
difference. I always used column mode browsing, and maybe it selects
folders in a specific way that vlc needs. You can also try command shift
O. This brings up a more complex media locater dialog with a files and
folders tab that might allow you to play folders if the standard one doesn't.

Best,

Erik

No, I’m not planning to use it all the time, it might be a bit depressing.
However, there is a particular circumstance I can think of where it might be

It seems Go Pro is the way to go so thanks

Play a folder in VLC on Mac, is this possible?

2017-01-08 Thread Gary Price
Morning everyone!
It's Gary from Bolton here.

Asking this for my benefit but also for a friend and fellow member on this list.
I've got VLC installed on my Macbook Pro.
Is it possible to play a folder using this?
Asking because was doing some exploring last night, when I went into my Gary's
Things folder on my external hard drive where all my things are located, VLC
started playing a load of files I didn't even want it to!

I went on my desktop running Windows and did some research on the Internet
through Google, the solution I found seems really complicated!
Creating a new folder, then dragging it into the media library!
I don't even know how to do this.

If playing a folder is too complicated, can anyone recommend a nice simple
VoiceOver accessible player which will play all formats but let you open
folders?

Thanks very much.
I look forward to any responses!

Where Are Settings Files For RS Games For Mac Located?

2017-01-08 Thread Shawn Krasniuk
Hey guys. I was playing RS Games and I was trying to correct the speech rate in
the game. I ended up setting it too slow and now I can't set it back to normal
with the command+Right arrow combination. So I'd like to delete all the
settings for the client but I can't figure out where they keep those settings.
I checked in user/library/application support but I don't see a folder for it.
Deleting the client itself didn't do anything. If anyone can help me track down
where they keep their settings file, I'd greatly appreciate it. I can't play
with excruciatingly slow speech, that would drive me crazy. Thanks.

Re: What's Up application and Voiceover

2017-01-08 Thread Andrew Lamanche
Thanks, Scott, the encryption feature is very important to me. There's another
app called Signal, available from the App store which also provides end to end
encryption between users of the same app. But Signal is not yet very common so
whilst I have got it, not many of my contacts do and I've realised that lots of
people don't care much about privacy in this way so they don't go out looking
for the applications like Signal. And yet, our communications are increasingly
gathered by various agencies and kept.

Re: Computer not booting after updating to Sierra

2017-01-08 Thread Andrew Lamanche
Hi Gabe,

You might want to try booting into recovery partition and performing "first
aid" on your macintosh hard drive to make sure it's not damaged.

To boot into recovery partition, shut down the computer, and press the power
button while holding down command+r. Hold these two keys for a good half a
minute, and then release them. Your mac should be booting into recovery
partition. Wait for at least a couple of minutes and then activate voiceover
with command+f5. This is necessary because voiceover doesn't come on
automatically when booting into recovery. Voiceover may take good 10 seconds
for voiceover to start speaking depending on how fast your machine is so be
patient. If voiceover doesn't come on, repeat the command+f5 combination
because the machine might not have been ready for this command yet first time
round.

Once you have voiceover, you will find in the window a table of choices.
Interact with the table and select "disc utility', and then stop interacting
and press continue button to the right of the table. Once disc utility has
loaded, you will find another table with all the available discs. Interact
with the table and select your hard drive, macintosh hd. Stop interacting and
vo to the left to land on the toolbar. Interact with the toolbar and choose
"first aid" button. My mind's not clear now as to the exact wording of the
next button you press but it will be rather obvious, something like repair. Go
ahead. If you expand the dialog, you may be able to see in the table what is
being done. Once "first aid" is performed, the "done" button will become
available and undimmed and you can close the dialog and close disc utility and
press vm+m for the apple menu and choose restart the computer.

Gabe, from the recovery partition, if you look at the first table of choices
the fourth of which was disc utility, you can also reinstall your operating
system or recover it. So maybe it's something to consider later if "first aid
has n't worked.

Another thing to try is to reset PRAM. This is tricky to perform as you have
to hold down many keys together while pressing the power button. Shut down
your computer, then hold down, control+option+p+r and holding them all down
press the power button. Continue to hold until you hear the starting chime 3
times and then release them. This sometimes sorts out all kind of strange
issues.

Maybe others will chip in as well, I hope.

Good luck

Andrew
