Hey Petrus,

You mentionecd the rugby world cup and not talking about it with Tim,

Why did something happen that might affect Canadians?

I'm not sure I could come up with 63 points to discuss,

Although I'm pretty sure the opposite would happen if it was the Canadian
hockey team verses the NZ hockey team,

Hi Dave,

I remember those days also,

I’d actually like to get a nokia 3310 candy bar phone which has been re released

It’s got an android OS version on it but no talkback which makes it pretty much

I no it’s not 30 years. Instead of Siri saying the usual “here’s what I found

If I could easily find my dvd copies I could have a look but I have to agree
with tim that
Apple have updated movies I’ve purchased to newer versions,

They started doing this a few years ago when gthey bought out the apple tv 4K,

They started updating any movies people had purchased so that the older copies
were replaced with updated 4K versions and included such things as AD and the
other one which I can never remember

By the way it’s not you it’s your kids marty, somethings gotta be done about
your kids!

Hi Tim,
Well that does give me some hope as the movie bundle I want hasn’t got audio

There’s your clue. Oh, and we won’t talk about rugby, or the World Cup.

it just became audio described next time I watched it. Of course, this only
works if you stream it, or download the newest version from Apple, because a

I hope that this makes sense.

There are times when I want to know the actual email address of a sender. In
particular, when I have a mail message that seems fishy. How do I get to the
FROM: field so that I can read the underlying address of the sender? Can’t seem
to get at it in the message headers section. Perhaps I need to adjust a setting?

Although your email prompted me to ask Siri when the first iPhone was released.
I no it’s not 30 years. Instead of Siri saying the usual “here’s what I found
on the web for when was the first iPhone released, take a look” it said; “let
me direct you to Apples rather fabulous web-site”. At least they are
modest…not.

Shortcuts App on the iPhone

2019-10-02 Thread Petrus Tuerlings
Hi all,
Yesterday I updated to 1.2 of the IOS 13 releases and I noticed it made
reference to fixing a shortcuts App bug. However it has seemed to have done the
opposite for me. One of my shortcuts is now broken, has anyone else had any
problems. There is one song in my music app that I play each morning on waking
up and this morning I asked Siri to play morning song and all it said was
“Sorry there is a problem with the app. And when I go into the shortcuts app to
have a look at that shortcuts it minimises the app as soon as I try to look at
that particular shortcut.

You are correct. I had my language set to Canadian English which gave me the
British voice. So, I’ve had to change to American English and that has given
me female SIRI or some American female voice.

Thanks for that!

You’ll be fine getting them in the bundle, I just had a look and audio
description is in the bundle as well. You have to open each movie in the bundle
and look at the details in there.

 Hi,

As far as I know, if audio description is available for the individual
titles, then it will also be available in the bundle. I believe that
Apple actually only has one master download that is linked to multiple
ways of accessing. In fact, I've purchased bundles where the movie did
not yet have audio description, but within months it did. I did not need
to purchase a new copy, it just became audio described next time I watched
it. Of course, this only works if you stream it, or download the newest
version from Apple, because a downloaded version will not be updated.

I hope that this makes sense.

Re: Movies with audio description on iTunes

2019-10-02 Thread 'Tim Kilburn' via MacVisionaries
Hi,

As far as I know, if audio description is available for the individual titles,
then it will also be available in the bundle. I believe that Apple actually
only has one master download that is linked to multiple ways of accessing. In
fact, I've purchased bundles where the movie did not yet have audio
description, but within months it did. I did not need to purchase a new copy,
it just became audio described next time I watched it. Of course, this only
works if you stream it, or download the newest version from Apple, because a
downloaded version will not be updated.

I hope that this makes sense.

Later...

Movies with audio description on iTunes

2019-10-02 Thread Mary Otten
Does anyone have experience purchasing bundle of movies on iTunes? I have found
two separate movies on iTunes both of which say they have audio description.
You can also get both of them in a bundle, which costs less than if you
purchased the two movies separately. But when I look at the bundle, audio
description is not mentioned. Only closed captioning. I wonder if this is a
matter of space saving, or if, somehow, when you buy a bundle, audio
description gets left out. I would hate to spend 20 bucks and find out that I
lose audio description. Of course, it also doesn’t feel very good to have to
spend more to buy the films separately just in order to get audio description.

Re: How to use the adjustable index in the broadcast radio section of Apple Music on iOS 13

2019-10-02 Thread Mary Otten
I got a reply from Apple accessibility about the adjustable index, but it
didn’t make any sense. They said that indexes have an alphabet on the left-hand
side. Well, I know that. Except this one doesn’t seem too, or at least I can’t
find it. Then they said something confusing about an adjustable index, and said
I could make a screenshot. Why the heck would I want to make a screenshot?
Anyway, maybe I will end up calling them and seeing if somebody can log into my
phone and show me how to actually use this thing. The response was certainly
not useful, although I’m sure they meant well.

If you know the call letters, you can use Siri and ask her to play .. for
example play KLTY would get you 94.9 from Dallas. Other places you can
ask for something like: play ESPN New York, and it will play 98.7 WEPN
 from there ..

If you have any of the apps for the sources, that might give you an idea
of how to ask for the stations. It is a little particular..they are quite
similar to how you would ask Alexa if you have an Echo device. You also
can add the source if you want it from a particular service, as some

If you aren’t, I guess that’s why you can’t see the broadcast radio

Apple Music at all. They’re supposed to be connected with Siri if

Re: Reading Sender Email Address

2019-10-02 Thread 'Tim Kilburn' via MacVisionaries
Hi,

I've found that you don't need to use the Contextual menu command, you can
simply VO-space on the name of the sender and the menu will appear. Dave, if
there's no proper eMail address, then I'd assume that it's a spoof or cloak or
whatever other expression we like to use to say that it's simply worth a delete
key action.

Re: How to use the adjustable index in the broadcast radio section of Apple Music on iOS 13

2019-10-02 Thread Mary Otten
Hi Donna,
So far as I am aware, Tune in just has the one shortcut, which is play last
station. So if that’s the only station you want, you’re good. But if you like
other stations and would like shortcut, I don’t think you can do that in tune
in I looked recently and couldn’t find anything but that one shortcut. Has
something changed? Was I looking in the wrong place?

Re: Possible text

2019-10-02 Thread 'Tim Kilburn' via MacVisionaries
Hi,

It's just VO taking a guess at an unlabelled item. VO is analyzing the screen,
when it finds something that is unlabelled, it will check close by to see if
the developer is expecting the user to know what something is by what's in the
vicinity and give a guess. It's saying "Possible" because it's just an
educated guess. As Devin mentioned, turn it off in your Verbosity settings.

It seems more finicky with TuneIn. I have a station from Ann Arbor Michigan

Well, I looked again and found it. It is not at the bottom of the
screen. It is right above the normal Apple Music what they call radio
basically playlists. So it’s above that not below it. I’ll go play
 with it now.

Re: Voiceover and WatchOS 6

2019-10-02 Thread João de Sousa e Silva
Think it is up to the “language region”, under General, in the WatchApp,
in iOS. I may have to wait for the download of the voice, that happens
just when the Watch is charging. Then, you may need to set it up, change
it, and set It up again. I managed to do it, but I am really not sure
about the whole process. But, definitely possible. Good Luck!

I’ve never been able to get my watch to change to a different British voice. We

your iPhone.

Hi all,

Has anybody figured out how to change the Voiceover voice on WatchOS 6?

I upgraded and now I have the British voice, but it isn’t the one I want and I
can’t find a way to change that.

Jeff

2019-10-02 Thread Simon A Fogarty
Hi Folks,

Just wondered if anyone else had noticed an update to Watch OS 6 sometime over
the passed 24 hours,

Os version now on my s4 watch is 6.0.1

I'm hoping it corrected the battery useage issues
