RE: An Iphone app for arranging my Medicines

2020-04-29 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Ramy,

As for the summary aspect of your question, the answer is yes. In fact, that
is the default view on the app.

As for specific medication instructions, again, if I understand your question,
correctly, the answer is yes.

Study the user manual carefully and you should discover the answers to many of
your questions. Also, there may be aspect of the app that are only available
after the in-app purchase.

Good Luck,

Mark

هّّ Hi Mark.
I tried the app, and it's really fancy, The only 2 things that i still need,
can i ask the app to tell me if the medicine will be before or after the meal?
also, can i get a summary of what can i take now?
Let's say i need to take 3 medicines at 12, can i get a summary for that?

2020-04-29 Thread Jonathan C. Cohn
ok, consistant results.
Once you get the balence you want to add funds to, tab onthe home tab as a
starting point and then swipe right once and you should be on the add funds
button! Have fun and work hard!!

Re: GPS Apps

2020-04-29 Thread Petrus Tuerlings
It could have been the fault of the App, but it could have been other factors
as well. It depends on where one is to how accurate the info will be, as GPS
relies on satellites so the app will try and work with the info it is getting.
Also if one is in a city the buildings can effect how much signal your phone
will get from the GPS satellites and how many are managing to send a signal to
you between the building. Not sure if changing the location on your phone will
help either if you are using a GPS app in another country then the one you
live in. The lazarillo app certainly isn’t perfect, but it’s not to bad for a
free app.

Re: Apple Watch as a remote.

2020-04-29 Thread 'Tim Kilburn' via MacVisionaries
Hi,

So, after playing with this for a while, I've determined that the process is
not particularly accessible, nor intuitive, but doable with VO. Yes, the
devices do show up on your Apple Watch, but when you double-tap them prior to
proper pairing, the Remote app on the Watch is unresponsive. This is what I
had to do,

1. Open the Music app on my Mac.
2. In the Sidebar, select my Apple Watch.

Note, if you don't see it there right away, go into the Remote app on your
Watch, then double-tap the Add button. A four digit code will be displayed and
available for you to enter on the Mac.

3. Again, make sure that the Apple Watch is selected in the Sidebar in the
Devices section.
4. Press shift tab and VO probably won't announce anything, but I believe that
it is focused on the proper fields.
5. Enter the four digit PIN needed to pair the Watch.

If it pairs properly, the Music app will do something, not sure exactly what,
but then your Watch should update its screen and announce that the volume is at
100% instead of 0%. If that happens, you're now good to use the Remote app on
your Apple Watch to control the Music app on your Mac. If it does not work,
make sure that your Apple Watch is selected in the Sidebar, then pressing tab
more times and each time that you land on something where VO doesn't announce
anything, try entering the four digit PIN from the Apple Watch. Sooner or
later it should take.

Thanks for bringing this up, it was a fun challenge, and now I know something
new.

Later...

Hi,

I will confirm later with my MBP. My MacPro is older and does not always
handle these newer features and that is the computer I have access to right now.

Oh, once you have got your applications by using shift command A and you’ve
found the application you want then it’s command O to open it. Or you you
could also use VO D to bring up the Doc and you can find a lot of Applications
in there as well.

Shift command A will bring up your Applications. And VO M will bring up the
menu for your system Preferences and you can also get to the App Store there as
well, just arrow up and down the menu. VO MM will bring up the Menu extras too.

Re: Urgent query re setting up my Mac and the log-in screen with Voiceover

2020-04-29 Thread 'Eleanor Roberts' via MacVisionaries
Hi all

Thanks so much for this info. Had no idea it would have an impact. Will
definitely disable Filevault

While I’m on, just another question. From the desktop what is the best way to
access things like system preferences, the app store, mail, etc using VO?? All
the settings etc I had before have all obviously been lost, and it’s been so
many years since the Mac was first set up I’ve got no idea/just can’t remember
how to do it/get to those areas.

Again, any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Re: GPS Apps

2020-04-29 Thread Petrus Tuerlings
Sorry, can’t really help with that one. GPS technology depends on a lot of
things. How many GPS signals your phone is picking up to triangulate your
position can effect it and I’ve heard that even cloud cover can effect it .
Suppose the orientation of your phone and weather you have it in a pocket or
not can effect it too, but I just opened the app as I’m sitting inside at my
table and it told me that the cemetery and bus stop is 112m to my south which
is correct. And it does get updated quite regularly so it c could just be a bug
that will get fixed at some point. You can also open the category filter so you
can change what it tells you if you don’t want to know about entertainment
places and shops and so on.
It’s not to bad for a free app..

Re: Urgent query re setting up my Mac and the log-in screen with Voiceover

2020-04-29 Thread 'Tim Kilburn' via MacVisionaries
Hi,

It appears to be working as it should. It sounds like File Vault 2 is enabled.
File Vault 2 encrypts your disk so that it is more secure. After shutdown or
restart, this basic login will present itself. So, if it says "Username", and
if you named your user "Eleanor", or "Eleanor Roberts", then simply enter that
when the "username" announcement is announced. Press return, then "Password"
will be announced. Enter the password and press return, wait 30 seconds or so
and you're good to go. If you log out, it will present the regular login
screen. This only presents upon shutdown or restart.

Re: Urgent query re setting up my Mac and the log-in screen with Voiceover

2020-04-29 Thread John Panarese
It sounds like you have FileVault disk encryption turned on. This has you
enter your user name and then your password to get into the Mac. There is no
automatic VoiceOver with this window. You either have to go into System
Preferences and Security and Privacy to disable FileVault or, if you want to
use encryption, just get used to having to turn on VO when the computer reboots.

Note too that with FileVault turned on, the system also turns on the
requirement to enter your password if the screen locks. You can turn this off
in Security and Privacy under General preferences once FileVault is disabled.

2020-04-29 Thread 'Devin Prater' via MacVisionaries
You have File Vault enabled. To log in this way, when VOICEOVER says Username,
type that and press Enter. Then, Enter your password, and press Enter again.
Now you should be logged in.

Vertical and horizontal scrollbars on iPhone

2020-04-29 Thread Michael Busboom
Hi.

I subscribe to several publications on the iPhone and recently, I have been
frustrated by an inability to sometimes read articles in their entireties.
Today, for example, I wanted to read a rather lengthy article in The Atlantic,
but could only read three or four lines of text. My assumption is that I need
to make use of the scrollbars in the article, but I don’t know how to do so.
Even when I get the scrollbar up to 100% I see no difference in the text, i.e.
I can still only read the initial lines within the text.

Could someone either tell me how to rectify the problem or point me to a
resource that addresses this issue?

With much gratitude,

Mike

Re: Zoom on Ipad Mini.

2020-04-29 Thread Lorie McCloud
I use Zoom on an iPad mini too and here's the way I do it. if there's an
invitation by email first I open Zoom and tap "join". then I go into my email
and tap the link they've sent. it opens in Safari but then it asks you if you
want to open in Zoom. tap on that and you're in.

RE: question for anyone who uses the Starbucks app, can you view your card balance?

2020-04-29 Thread sarai.bucciarelli
Open the app.

Locate the scan tab on the bottom and double tap.

Bring your finger half way down screen until you hear payments you can scan in
store adjustable.

Flick down with one finger and you will hear the card name and balance.

Sarai,

It sounds like I’m doing what you’re describing, but I must be missing
something.. When I see the Payments you can Scan In Store, I flick up, and Vo
reads my card numbers then immediately collapses it back down again. Can you
explain your gestures in more detail?

Thanks,

Hi Jonathan,

when I Click on Scan In Store,, I see the following:

My star balance

Link Another in-store payment

Payments You can Scan in Store

Vo says that Payments you Can Scan in Store is adjustable. Tapping it does
nothing, but if I flick up, VO speaks my card number followed by Manage/Add
Funds, but then quickly reverts back to the Payments You can scan in Store
prompt, not allowing me to activate the Manage/Add funds button. You're not
seeing that behavior? Are you running IOS 13.4.1?

Cheers,

Donna

Hello Petrus,
Many thanks for the tip on Lazarillo. I took it for a trial run this morning
and it worked pretty well.I particularly like it voicing the compass direction
in which I am walking.
One aspect which puzzles me is that it usually tells me that a named side road
is x meters in front of me even when the road in question is just a side road
and not a cross road. Occasionally it very helpfully tells me that the side
road is to my left or my right. I cannot figure out why it only does this on
rare occasions. Any thoughts on this?
Many thanks and best regards … Paul Hopewell

Re: question for anyone who uses the Starbucks app, can you view your card balance?

2020-04-29 Thread Jonathan Cohn
I usually wait until I place an order that is larger than my balance and at
that point the App recommends that I add $25. If I want to add a different
amount, I believe I can just press the $25 and adjust it. My phone needs a
charge right now, so I can't test.

Best wishes,

RE: Zoom on Ipad Mini.

2020-04-29 Thread Simon A Fogarty
Hi Anders,

If the meeting id is wrong then you have the wrong meeting id.

If you have an invite to the meeting and it's in the form of a URL
Then what you do is copy and paste that url in to the zoom meeting id field and
what you get is the meeting id
A number of approx. 9 or 10 digits.
This is the best way to get the correct id number.

Then on the meeting id / number you hit enter and the joining should / will
happen.

RE: question for anyone who uses the Starbucks app, can you view your card balance?

2020-04-29 Thread sarai.bucciarelli
Yes.

Scan tab then move to middle of the screen and flick up.

Cheers,

Donna

Hello, close to the bottom is

"scan in store" button. Click this button and you can review all your StarBucks
cards and their balences.

(Note, I upgraded my SB app today.)

 Best wishes,

Jonathan Cohn

Hi all,

I am finding that I can no longer view my card balance or reload my card in the
Starbucks app. Is anyone else experiencing this? If not, how are you accessing
your card information? When I tap Cards you can scan, I can flick up, and VO
reads my card, but then when I tap on it, it disappears. Running IOS 13.4.1 and
the latest release of the Starbucks app. Appreciate any help you can offer.
Cheers,
Donna
