Re: email addresses

2021-06-02 Thread 'Tim Kilburn' via MacVisionaries
Hi,

I don’t really need to display complex, or detailed, header information to get
this info myself. My header info is just set to default.

Regarding why my info remains hidden is a mystery to me. I checked my setting
for this group, and I don’t appear to have anything special or secure that I
can tell. Now, this is Google and it’s interface is awkwardly accessible, so I
may be missing something.

Re: Latest Big Sur update issues

2021-06-02 Thread 'Tim Kilburn' via MacVisionaries
Hi,

I’m not sure what happened to cause the “Donna’s MacBook Air” folder to be
created, but the Relocated Items is a common item after updates. If you
VO-space on the Relocated Items item, you’ll be taken to a location where you
can learn about the reason for that alias being placed on your Desktop. It has
something to do with files being removed and relocated due to incompatibilities
with that update.

Re: email addresses

2021-06-02 Thread Steve Matzura
Tim's right, but man oh man, you have to go digging with a long shovel
to find it. It's the line in the rather lengthy header section beginning
with "Original-address.

And this brings up another interesting point. Email lists that show
addresses of posters in the form "Steve Matzura via MacVisionaries" etc.
are doing their subscribers a disservice, or something's wrong with
somebody's DKIM or DMARC or something, because email address obfuscation
isn't supposed to succumb to simple header examination. It's just
supposed to scrub those addresses. What's wrong with this picture I wonder?

• open a message by pressing return on it.
• navigate around the window until you hear “Message Headers” and
interact with it.
• navigate within the Message Header area and you should hear a
section that announces the sender’s name, the subject and the
recipient, as in MacVisionaries.  Interact with this.

• navigate to the sender’s name and VO-space on it.

A menu should pop up with items such as Copy Address and the sender’s
actual address.  There are still some situations where specific mail
clients keep this hidden, but I am able to determine most sender’s
eMail address using this method.

Latest Big Sur update issues

2021-06-02 Thread 'Donna Goodin' via MacVisionaries
Hi all,

During my update to the most recent version of Big Sur I lost VO access. When
my Mac “came to”, I had a folder on my desktop called Donna’s MacBook Air, that
basically contained the stuff from my desktop, pluss a relocated items folder.
I have no idea why this folder was created, but I’m inclined to delete it. Is
there any reason I shouldn’t? Any other pitfalls I should no about regarding
this upgrade?

TIA,
Donna

Did you sign up with Z-translate, and paste the API key into the
Retroarch Config file? You'll have to do that, which is talked about
in the user guide, in order for Retroarch to even do OCR.
Alternatively, you can use VOcr to OCR the screen of any emulator.

Re: OT Sonos, google assistant and apple music

2021-06-02 Thread 'Donna Goodin' via MacVisionaries
Hi Ian,

Is there any particular reason you want to use Google Assistant? I have Sonos
speakers throughout the house, and use Siri to play my Apple Music library. It
can sometimes hiccup, but most of the time it works pretty well.
Cheers,
Donna

Its possible this isn’t supported by Sonos and Google. Third party speakers
work differently. I know Alexa and Apple Music work but Sonos is fighting with
Google because Google stole some patons.

OT Sonos, google assistant and apple music

2021-06-02 Thread Ian Harrison
Hi everyone,

I can’t get the google assistant on my Sonos player to connect to my apple
music library, yet it will do this from my little google nest speaker. Any
ideas?

Thanks in advance
Ian

If you just want to see the charge level, hit VO MM and VO Right to the battery.

Hi All,

I went through the initial setup and am in the process of obtaining updates,
there was a Big Sur update and apparently apps from the App Store. I am
charging my unit and wonder how one gets to information about the battery,
available charge in percentage, how many hours of battery do I have, etc. All
help appreciated.

Best,
