Re: Dock Icon Behavior When Application Is Open

2021-07-03 Thread Jonathan Cohn
Hello,
If the application has no windows then its primary window will be opened. If it
does have windows then I believe the top-most window for that application is
broth to the top of the stack. In some cases, Mac will keep programs running
even if you quit them at least that was a feature added 5-6 ears ago. It was
designed to reduce the startup time for programs that might get frequent short
usages. I don't know how much it was implemented but just like IOS does not
really expect you to quit an application, but that the application will be well
behaved and save its state when inactive.
Best wishes,

Jonathan Cohn

No, it shouldn’t. That is really odd. I’ve only had issues with other custom

Okay, how do you download the file; not sure I recognize the extension.

Is it accessible, and what platforms does it work on?

FYI, Y’all should have a look at Xournal… This app is the bomb for PDF editing,
even edits what Basic Adobe Reader doesn’t without having to pay for a license
or subscription!

Your 2014 Mac mini should have no problem running Big Sur.

I would assume Podcast should be the same on Big Sur as on Catalina, but can’t
say for sure, because I don’t use the Podcast app on Mac.

well, I might eventually. I have a late 2014 Mac. could it handle Big Sur? my

Perhaps VoiceOver Recognition is not supported in Catalina.

Might be a good time to consider upgrading to Big Sur.

Hi,

Did you make sure that VoiceOver Recognition was enabled within the VO Utility?
If that is enabled, you should, at least, get VoiceOver to announce that it is
a document with text on it. Otherwise, apps like Acrobat DC or PDFPen can do
the OCR for you.

Thanks for that perspective.

I bet the M1 chip will make live text processing even better particularly if it
can be done on device and not sent to the cloud.

Hi,

This Apple Insider article may shed some more light on things for you:

https://appleinsider.com/articles/21/06/07/macos-montereys-live-text-allows-users-to-interact-with-text-in-any-image

Essentially, we just need to wait a little while for it to be properly
integrated. Regular VoiceOver Recognition has its uses, but Live Text is the
next generation.
