The 2 Factor notifications are not like regular notifications.
They will appear on your screen, and automatically go away when dismissed.

Re: trouble upgrading MacBook Pro 2019 to Monterey

2021-12-29 Thread Raul Gallegos
Hi all. Well, still no go. I also thought that it might be some kind of
authentication prompt. However, trying out FN+VO+1,1 on this MBP 2019
did not work either. It showed me the available windows to switch into
and non e were a password prompt. I contacted Apple accessibility and
the person was equally stumped. He tried directing me to download the OS
update from the App Store instead of using the Update section from About
my Mac and that did not work either. he tried having me download an
earlier OS but it was not found in the App Store either. Brad, if your
offer of Catalina is still good, let's make that happen and I can try
this way. The Apple rep got a screen shot of the null screen when the
update is trying to process and the issue was escalated. So far, I am
waiting to hear back from them. Maybe this Friday, maybe next week. I
also found a guide on installing the update using a bootable USB drive,
but I can't get the Mac to boot from the drive even though I gave it
what I think are the right terminal commands. The guide I found is from
this site:
https://www.cleverfiles.com/howto/clean-install-macos-monterey.html

Meanwhile, things are working fine with Mohave. However, if this mystery
can be solved, that will be wonderful.

If there are other ideas, please let me know.

Hi,

I suspect that it’s asking you to enter your password for the
computer.  Upgrading from Mojave to Monterey is perfectly normal and
supported.  If just entering your password then pressing return does
not get it started, use the Application Chooser, VO-f1-f1, down to
system Dialogs, and there should be an authentication dialog waiting
for your attention.

Hello everyone, I have recently purchased a MacBook Pro 2019 from

it to the Monterey OS but running into a snag. After the download is
done and I choose to upgrade, the standard Agree of license terms
comes up. I do that, and then it gets stuck on checking with (null),
no percentage. No other windows seem to be open. I have tried
shutting it down and starting over, I have removed the install icon
from the Applications finder folder and re-downloaded the 12 GB size

not done any other kind of configuration or customization other than
the standard Apple ID and one Gmail account on it, so if I need to

Thanks all for any suggestions you may offer.

The codes do not show up as a text message.
The codes arrive as a system notification alert on either device.

The layout of the Mailbox list did change a little beginning in macOS Big

The primary difference is that Favorite folders are now listed at the top

The Favorites area may contains combined folders, such as Inbox and Sent
Items, for each mail account you have active in the Mail app.
These combined folders can be expanded to reveal folders for each account
 if you wish.
Below the Favorites, you will find Smart Mailboxes and mailboxes located
 on your Mac.
Below these mailboxes, you should find mailboxes for each account you have
active in your Apple Mail client.
If you are having difficulty locating any of these mailboxes described
above, be sure you interact with the Mailbox list using VO + Shift +
DownArrow, and then use VoiceOver navigation to explore the list.
When using VoiceOver navigation, you will find heading for each mailbox
 group and each mail account..
If a group of mailboxes, or mail account group is collapsed, you can
expand it using VO + Spacebar. This action can be used to collapse any
 group as well.

It’s also a major security improvement compared with passwords alone. I would
recommend setting up two-factor authentication for every account that supports
it.
Note the new feature in the password settings of Mac OS Monterey that allows
the Mac to generate the codes used for two-factor authentication by various Web
sites. It supports time-based one-time passwords, which are commonly used as
the second authentication factor.

2 Factor Authentication is now required by apple.
When necessary, you will receive a verification code on one of your authorized
devices signed into your Apple ID. You will need to enter this code in to the
device that is requesting the verification code, before you will be allowed to
proceed with whatever it is that has generated the need for 2 Factor
Verification.
This usually is required when signing in to a device using your Apple ID.

Re: Apple mail in Monterey

2021-12-29 Thread Brad Snyder
After interacting, you need to use VoiceOver navigation (i.e. VO + Right/Left
Arrow keys).
If you interact, and then use non-VoiceOver navigation (i.e. up/Down Arrow
keys), you are navigating the same as without interacting.
When interacting, and then using VoiceOver navigation, you will discover
headings for each mailbox group, as well as each mail account group.
These group headings are not read by voiceOver if you do not use VoiceOver
navigation commands.

Re: Apple mail in Monterey

2021-12-29 Thread 'Donna Goodin' via MacVisionaries
Hi all,

So I have a couple of questions related to this thread.

1. I’m still running Big Sur. I do not have to interact with the mailbox
list, and first letter navigation works great for me. If I upgrade to
Monterrey will those things change?

2. In Big Sur—and Monterrey for that matter—is there any way to disable
conversation view?
TIA,
Donna

Re: Apple mail in Monterey

2021-12-29 Thread Les Kriegler
Yes, I often do not interact with the mailbox table. That might be why I’m not
seeing it. I like to use first letter navigation when I can. I have to Mail
accounts and I can generally jump between them using that method when I am in
the mailbox list. It beats using the up-and-down arrows which I also have to do
sometimes.

Re: Apple mail in Monterey

2021-12-29 Thread Brad Snyder
I don't use iCloud mail, however, iCloud mail should be treated just like any
other mail account. If you have it active, it will be in the list with any
other mail account you have acted vated. just interact with the mailbox list,
and use voiceover navigation. If it's there, you should find it.

Hi Brad,

I have a question which I believe Lauri may have mentioned. How does one locate
the iCloud mailbox. I probably have the wrong terminology, it’s probably not a
mailbox. I have seen it when I tried to move messages iCloud pops up. But I
don’t find it in the list of mailboxes and folders.

Re: 2factor Authentication

2021-12-29 Thread Brad Snyder
2 Factor Authentication is now required by apple.
When necessary, you will receive a verification code on one of your authorized
devices signed into your Apple ID. You will need to enter this code in to the
device that is requesting the verification code, before you will be allowed to
proceed with whatever it is that has generated the need for 2 Factor
Verification.
This usually is required when signing in to a device using your Apple ID.

HTH.

Re: Apple mail in Monterey

2021-12-29 Thread Brad Snyder
The layout of the Mailbox list did change a little beginning in macOS Big Sur.
There was no change between Big Sur and Monterey.
The primary difference is that Favorite folders are now listed at the top of
the Mailbox list.
The Favorites area may contains combined folders, such as Inbox and Sent Items,
for each mail account you have active in the Mail app.
These combined folders can be expanded to reveal folders for each account if
you wish.
Below the Favorites, you will find Smart Mailboxes and mailboxes located on
your Mac.
Below these mailboxes, you should find mailboxes for each account you have
active in your Apple Mail client.
If you are having difficulty locating any of these mailboxes described above,
be sure you interact with the Mailbox list using VO + Shift + DownArrow, and
then use VoiceOver navigation to explore the list.
When using VoiceOver navigation, you will find heading for each mailbox group
and each mail account..
If a group of mailboxes, or mail account group is collapsed, you can expand it
using VO + Spacebar. This action can be used to collapse any group as well.

HTH.

I just installed Monterey and I notice that there are some differences in Apple
mail. I can only find 1 inbox but I have 2 mail accounts. vo doesn't say the
name of the inbox as it used to. I'm not sure they're together. I think I just
can't find iCloud. how does this work?

thanks.
