Re: Question about outlook

2024-01-19 Thread roni mathew
I agree as well; Outlook is so well integrated, and much easier to scroll through built-in lists and menus. Not to mention, the intouface is generally more snappy, since one is not dealing with the web constantly loading, and  navigating around to locate specific edit boxes or buttons is not a concern in outlook. The one drawback is that accessing mail anywhere else but one’s own computer will be a much harder learning curve, if all that is used is outlook. I will regularly force myself to use gmail on the web in standard view, knowing of course, is less efficient than outlook, Apple mail or even basic html gmai  Roni Mathew Jan 19, 2024, at 5:00 PM, Brandon Olivares wrote:

Hi all,
I have a couple of questions .  I have to use outlook for email through my university.  I am using a Mac computer.  I was wondering what are the commands to send a message?  What is the command to create a new message?  Also what is the command to reply back
 to a email in outlook?
Thank you all

Re: Question about outlook

2024-01-19 Thread 'Donna Goodin' via MacVisionaries
Hi all,

I’ve worked at universities for most of my professional life. Like Suzanne,
I’ve had no trouble getting exchange mail to work in Mac Mail. I believe that
if you go into Internet Accounts, select Add Account, select Exchange as your
account type, and then enter your email address, the rest of the fields—except
those you configure such as your name—will auto-populate. It’s been a while
since I’ve set mine up, so I may be missing a step, but if I am, I’m sure your
IT Helpdesk can give you the information you need. Lots of academics use Macs,
So I assure you, you will not be the only one using Mac Mail instead of Outlook.
Cheers,
Donna

Re: Question about outlook

2024-01-19 Thread Suzanne Erb
Hello,
At my most recent job, I was encouraged to use Outlook, but I didn’t. I was
able to just set up my employer’s account in Mail. No one ever knew that I did
not use Outlook.
I was surprised at how easy it was to set up. I believe it was
considered an "Exchange account'. Unfortunately, I don’t remember exactly how I
did it, but it was certainly doable. All of my mail showed up in my"All
Inboxes” section with no problem.
Perhaps someone else on the list can give you further instructions, but
I can definitely say that I was pleasantly surprised at how well it worked.
Also, I was able to use Pages and TextEdit for word processing. I was
able to save documents as Word documents with no problem. Granted, I didn’t
have to use crazy formatting, but I never had any issues
Hope everything works out well for you.

Subject: RE: Issues with Venmoe and Voiceover

Hi sarai,

Do report this to them. When I’ve reported things to them in the past they’ve
been very receptive to fixing things so it couldn’t hurt. Does it behave the
same on all devices?

I have a different issue on Venmo I have one former Venmo friend who I can’t
delete for love nor money as the saying goes hahahaha. When I click on them it
gives me an error as though their profile contains nothing so there’s no remove
or delete element to be rid of them. So I have to contact them myself. I’ll be
happy to join you in reporting this issue to them as well.

Take good care,

Robin

Subject: Issues with Venmoe and Voiceover

All :

Someone asked me to do a Venmo transaction for them since they don’t use it.

Looks like with Voice over, iOS 17.2.1, and Venmo version 10.32.07 you cannot
type in a venmo user in the search field with VO running. Voiceover speaks and
enters in letters and symbols that you are not typing.

You use to be able to dictate in the search field, but if you try, the
information is blank in the search field.

Just an FYI.

Braille SupportFixes

2024-01-19 Thread roni mathew
Hello, I’ve asked numerous times about this topic and was wondering if anyone
has heard any update; from Apple technology services on this.

As Apple Accessibility is far-and-away still stronger than Google, there is
more to be desired in the areas of braille editting services. when you type in
braille, or make proofs, you expect consistency in what you are typing, and
accuracy in your proofing. After all, it's your voice coming through, ideas and
oppoions expessed, and you demand it state exactly what you intend. Any print
reader gets this. Your intelligence and expression shall not, and should never,
ever be undermined at all by the technology/platform that is used.
I make this statement out of general commendation for the progress in Apple
accessibility, with simultaneous sighing frustration about this area of
braille editting and proofing. Specifically, the jumping of the braille cursor,
and irregular freezing and scrambling of braille characters while typing,
cursur movement, and while proofing documents of varying lengths, whether in
Apple Notes, mail, Google or other apps is, franly, at the present time not to
be the case any longer. This is a matter of braille and general literacy, so
vital for the advancement of blind persons everywhere in society. It is not
just a lluxury, but is still being overlooked, or perhaps not sufficiently
addressed by Apple Accessibility: patchwork excuses being given or suggested.
Anyone have suggestions on this, and if we have Apple Support available in
Visionaries here, please again do consider this less a complaint, and more the
strong potential for consistent growth and ability of the blind everywhere to
achieve our best, without the troughts and pitfalls of technologies leaps with
pitfalls. No more of this in 2024; please fix.

Thank you They honestly should not be, not this long.
Roni Mathew

Re: Remote Desktop

2024-01-19 Thread Terje Strømberg
I don't know. But, i will suggest installing tailscale app and learn it.
Looks accessible. There are very advanced things you can do and learn in
tailscale. Take the easy steps first like just get connected and read user
guides.
I am considering tailscale as an option myself.
Take care
