Hello James,

try to put your Xcode window in full-screen mode (Ctrl+Cmd+F). this speeds up
my Xcode, here. With Ctrl and Arrow left or right, you can change between
full-screen spaces.

 Hi,

I'm trying to give XCode a try again. I didn't have this problem when I used
it with Mountain Lion a couple of years ago. However, Voiceover gets stuck
and keeps saying busy. Only way is to quit XCode and rerun.
It happens so frequently that it makes it impossible to navigate to different
 parts of screen.
 I'm using XCode 6.3.2 on Yosemite 10.10.3.
Does anyone have this problem? Is there a workaround for this?
 Thanks,

 JL

Re: Focus 40 Blue and Maverix

2014-06-17 Thread Jan Blüher, visorApps
Hi Scott,

you need the latest firmware for Bluetooth support of the Focus 40 on your Mac.

For the Focus 40 blue classic, the latest firmware is 4.59. For the newer Focus
40 blue (2012 and later) it is 4.93. You will need a Windows PC to do the
firmware upgrade.

Thank you for contacting Technical Support. Before upgrading your Focus

unit's name and firmware version display when the unit turns on.
Download the appropriate Focus Blue firmware file and copy it to a location
on your computer where you can easily find it later

 Updating the Focus Blue Firmware

if you are in need to filter output in Terminal you might want to use the grep

# your output providing command | grep pattern

# man grep

I hope this helps you a bit.

MouseKick for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

2013-06-27 Thread Jan Blüher, visorApps
Dear MacVisionaries,

I would like to point your interest to my new iOS app MouseKick. It is a game,
where you have to tap appearing mice in a cheese as fast as you can. It can be
played by both, sighted and visually impaired users. Apart from the nice
animation, the mice also do have their individual sounds, which guide us to the
right position on screen. There is a training mode to learn those sounds. To
get an impression of the MouseKick-Sounds, please watch the Trailer on YouTube
at:

http://youtu.be/tLe4ygQA-xM

You can play various game modes, in normal or in blind mode. If you know the
sounds, the blind mode is a bit easier to play. The app is fully accessible
with VoiceOver.

MouseKick can be found on the App Store at:

http://AppStore.com/MouseKick

Additional information can be found on the support web site at:

http://visorApps.com/MouseKick

If you have questions, hints, or comments, please contact me over the list or
off-list at supp...@visorapps.com. Any feedback is very much appreciated.

If you like the app, please recommend it to your friends and rate it in the App
Store.

Have fun!

 Hallo Alex,

of course, an iPhone app is not always as accurate as a specially designed
and calibrated color detection device since it is simply not color
calibrated. I guess, this is the reason why people at Digit Eyes withdraw
from such a project. They couldn't get the accuracy they wanted. On the other
hand, I compare the results of the ColorVisor with a color detection device I
own and find them quite comparable. If you take into account that the app is
much cheaper than a special device, this method is worth a try. There is also
one big advantage in using the ColorVisor for color recognition: you can scan
remote object such as the sky and liquids. Generally, you have to be more
careful about lights and shadows when using an app.

The ColorVisor also works well on the iPod and the iPad as far as you can
control the surrounding light conditions or know how to deal with it. This
may sound a bit strange for a blind person to achieve, but with some practise
it is possible. Of course, you have more opportunities with a torch.

I hope this answer gave you some impressions. We can extend the discussion if
 you like.

2012-10-25 Thread Jan Blüher, visorApps
Hallo Alex,

I think there are two ways to achieve a calibration. First is a calibrated
sensor connected via Bluetooth. The second is a samll scanning box in front of
the camera where you include some known colors next to the scanning object. The
camera measures both, the known colors and the object and the app could
calculate correction values to calibrate itself. On the iPhone, you do not have
the foll control and knowledge about the torch. Its strenght may change and you
do not know the exact value. Additionally, one can not guarantee, that every
torch on any device has axactly the same torch color.

then flash the LEDs to give the image a lighting that the app could filter

Re: ColorVisor version 2.0 now available

2012-10-24 Thread Jan Blüher, visorApps
Hallo Alex,

of course, an iPhone app is not always as accurate as a specially designed and
calibrated color detection device since it is simply not color calibrated. I
guess, this is the reason why people at Digit Eyes withdraw from such a
project. They couldn't get the accuracy they wanted. On the other hand, I
compare the results of the ColorVisor with a color detection device I own and
find them quite comparable. If you take into account that the app is much
cheaper than a special device, this method is worth a try. There is also one
big advantage in using the ColorVisor for color recognition: you can scan
remote object such as the sky and liquids. Generally, you have to be more
careful about lights and shadows when using an app.

The ColorVisor also works well on the iPod and the iPad as far as you can
control the surrounding light conditions or know how to deal with it. This may
sound a bit strange for a blind person to achieve, but with some practise it is
possible. Of course, you have more opportunities with a torch.

I hope this answer gave you some impressions. We can extend the discussion if
you like.

can use the flash? I heard somewhere that the makers of Digit-Eyes were
looking into color identification, but they didn't finish it because it was
impossible to identify lighting conditions that could throw off the hew of an
object. I don't yet have an iPhone, but when I do I'd like to find a good
color identifier. As I said, I'm not even going to try it on my iPod, as the
camera on there is all but useless for anything more complex than money
 identification.

 Hallo MacVisionaries,

as announced earlier today, a new version of the ColorVisor has been
released. Version 2.0 is now available on the App Store and for update.
There are a number of new features. Some of them are:

 * There is now a better color naming due to refreshed reference color
 palettes.
 * You can choose to identify only basic colors or differentiated color
 shades.
 * VoiceOver verbosity during the color scan is now configurable. By default,
it does not announce color names during camera calibration processes.
 * Additionally, a sound is played when the camera is calibrating itself.
This two things avoid the announcement of wrong color names during the
calibration, which was a problem in former versions.
 * The CMYK color components were replaced by HSB.

VoiceOver support is still unbroken and you can configure the ColorVisor to
 behave as in former Versions.

The ColorVisor and even more details can be found on the App Store at
 http://iTunes.com/app/ColorVisor

More information and a user manual are available on the ColorVisor support
 page at

If you have any questions, hints, or comments do not hesitate to contact me
via this list, on my web site, or by using the new in-app support request.
 Any feedback is much appreciated.

 Greetings

 Jan
