auto-Reading documents by VoiceOver voice
Hello all, This seems a old bug to me but on macos 11.2.3 on a macbook air with a m1 chip, voiceover is reading a document from the top when swipe with 2 fingers down. This is not like expected when the cursor is not at the beginning of the document: voiceover should start reading from the position of the cursor. Or, is this supposition of me wrong? Perhaps I can use another command to read automatically from cursor to bottom? Appending selected text to the clipboard
Hello For my work , I use a win10 computer with jaws for windows and there is a built-in script to appen d selected text to the clipboard. So, you can put all different paces of text into the clipboard and paste it together on another place. On macOS, I found ‘Alfred for that task but The clipboard-extension is only available in the power pack extension and this isn’t free. Is there a free (built-in) tool on the Mac to do so or another external programs that works fine with VoiceOver? Re: Braille Displays
hello all I am thinking also for buying a active star 40 but, as written below, the htcom isn’t still available for mac. 1. You can copy and paste from the finder into the external drive (memorycard of the active star). and reverse but other formats then .txt and .rtf should be converted before transferring to the star. 2. because of that, I red that there is a linux-version of the program htcom. Anybody has already tried to install it from the terminal? And 2 key-command questions? What is space 1,5,7 on the active star doing while I am in a file on the brailledisplay? it seems it’s pushing all the contents of the opened file on the active star to the active screen (new mail, textedit), on mac os. The following command in the active star manual for enabling atc can be done on windows with a checkbox in the specific tab of the screenreader but on mac by pressing [SPCL + 1 7] (Chord A), it should be done also. However, it seems not to work now while reading in this mail. It’s defined in voiceover as assign command-key to braille key or something like that. When I have removed this function in voiceover utility, the function isn’t reacting andere taxi van all. Any idea’s how to enable/disable the atc emulation on the mac since Apple isn’t supporting atc? Many thanx for the answers. macmail rules : limitations, help pls
Hello all, To clean up my mailbox , I use the macmail rueles in mac os 10.13 high sierra. It seems I can’t make conditional rules with and/or operators. e.g. I cant say that all mails from @facebook.com or @twitter.com or @ applevis.com or @apple.com should be removed if they are received 30 days ago. If I should say the the rule is true if one or more of the conditions are true, I should see that all conditions seperately are true. If I should say that the rule-evaluation is valid if all conditions are true, I shouldn’t have any result since apple mail can’t handle more than 1 from-address. There is also a option in the conditionlist of a mailrule named “edit headerlist. There, I could type and/or/… but this isn’t working. And I could make also different rules for each from-address separately but then , I have su much rules…. All hints are very welcome! reading subtitles wit ios11: what is needed
hello all, I was wondering which technical aspects or protocols are necessary for voiceover to read the subtitles of e.g. movies when playing them from utube, netflix or other sources like websites or other apps on the iphone? I would like to hear the subtitles that are available for everyone from inside the ap of the local provider here. When a film with subtitles is playing in yeloplay, the app of the provider, I can select with the rotor mediacontrols and there I can choose for off, braille, speach and braille and speech togheter. Since I have this settings in my rotor, I suppose that the ios-settings are correct set but still , no subtitles are spoken. Perhaps, there are only a few types of subtitles that voiceover can read? Or, perhaps, there are also other settings / specifications needed to let it work? Any technical or other suggestions for me or developers are very welcome. thx in advance for the responses. restoring contactlist from a remote time-machine disc
Hello all, Yesterday , I have distroyed my contactlist on my mac so no, the contactlist on all my devices is damaged because of the icloud synq. There is a backup made on my nas made by time-machine where the time-machine backups are saved on my nas. With voiceover I can restore from a specific date my computer but it seems I can’t not restore a particular file/program when the backups disc is established true a wifi-connection. Instead of doing a whole restore of my mac , I would like to know if I can extract my contactlist out of a time-machine backup and import it on my system of today. I found something on the internet: opening the contacts app, from in the app go to time-machine and select there the date from where I want to import my contacts. Unfortunately, this seems not to work with voiceover. Any help is greatly appreciated. Re: macos sierra accessibility especially with braille how is it so far?
where I have to type Before interacting on that edit field, On the braille display, I see: "Help (Email) knop” 3. When I interact there and type, I can’t see what I am typing on the braille display while I can hear it 4. I can’t see the names of the fields like first name, last name on my braille display so, without speech, I can’t know which information I have to fill in. This is all the case for group/dom mode. There are very few possibilities to configure the information on a braille display. Since braille displays have only a few cells to show the information on the screen, it’s essential that the right information is on the right place at the right moment with as few commands as possible. Examples of nice options are: configure the representation of elements like checkboxes, radio buttons, links on a braille display. Example: - [x]/[ ]: checked/unchecked checkbox; - (x)/( ) checked/unchecked radio button; - { choices }: combo boxes; -is a good option to present “tab” on a line but, sometimes, it’s good to see the real space on the screen like “ “ instead of - links on a website should be represented with the underlined text of the link with dots 7,8 on the braille display instead of writing a word “lnk” or “koppeling” in Dutch before the text of the link. - configure if the text should be shown like it is on the screen or with as much as possible text on the braille display. - configure if the types of the controls are shown on the braille display (with less text or information around the current area) instead of giving as much as possible information around the control with support of the speech to announce which control has focus. My conclusion The Mac with voiceover is still a product that has many possibilities and many things have been updated to provide better voiceover support. However, for advanced braille users, I wouldn’t recommend the switch to a Mac anymore because of the limited and very basic braille support. I still hope that Apple will make better efforts in the near feature for braille support. macos sierra and setup screen
Hello , I have just installed macos sierra and, because of a strange reason, I lost the configuration screen. importing large amount of mails from time-machine osx 10.11.5
Hello all, Because of some unwanted , strange reason, I have lost all me mails before 26/3/2016. The amount of lost mails is about +- 400.000 with a size of about 12.x gb. I have copied this folder to my hd and while importing the folder with all the mails, the mail program is blocking. So, I would like to import this mails in apple mail. I chose from the mail menu: archive , import folder There , I receive a dialogue box to select the specified folder to import. When I start this import-proces, mail is blocking after a wile and also, it goes very slow. Some thoughts: Is a network-connectivity required while uploading mails from a external disc to the mail-app`? Or can I be offline while importing the mails into the mail app so that I can upload them later to my gmail-account? The speed of this transaction seems very slof for me! Any ideas about this? I hope to hear of you! Best regards, William Windels -- The following information is important for all members of the Mac Visionaries list. verifying time-machine backus on a remote (nas)drive
Hello all, I was doing some research because of the corrupted time-machine backups I have on my remote nas drive connected with wifi. A solution could be to verify myself the time-machine backups myself regularly. This should be done with something like: “press the option key while clicking on the time-machine icon”a option to verify the backups should appear. I don’t know how to activate this with voiceover? safari on iOS and activating open pages
Hello, i have ios 9.2.1 installed and now, but before also I think, it happens that I can’t re-activate opened webpages. I can tab the webpage and voiceover gives the sound of a acctivated element but the page is not opened again. Perhaps, it could be because there are to much pages opened and they aren’t all shown on the screen. But when I swipe to the right/left, voiceover speaks all opened pages. canon lide 700f and ocr
Hello, Perhaps someone can help me with my canon 700f lide on osx 10.11 and specially for scanning multipage documents I was using the program mp navigator ex from canon to work with my scanner and osx. Since every big osx version, I need to search for a updated version program to let it work with osx. The program is hard to install but I can use it after installing it. The biggest reason I use this program, is that I can configure the 4 quick keys on the scanner to do fast actions like printing, mailing, scanning and ocr or scanning and recognize. But now, I’ll stop this tricky updates and I am looking forward for a program that can be updated automatically, that works with the cannon 700f like and if possible, that can configure the 4 keys at the frond for quick actions. time-machine problem
Hello all, I have a nas from qnap to make time-machine backups and mostly it works fine But Since I use this nas for Time-machine since january 2015, it’s the second time, now and one tim e in july, that all backups from the past are deleted. I receive the followingg message: :application alert system dialog Time Machine completed a verification of your backups on “BackupSchijf(TimeMachine)”. To improve reliability, Time Machine must create a new backup for you. Click Start New Backup to create a new backup. This will remove your existing backup history. This could take several hours.” I found no specific reason of this problem on the internet and also, the macbook of my wife is also connected to the nas for time-machine and she makes backups since january without any problem. My macbook is running 10.11.1 and my wife runs 10.10.5. But, since my problem was also there in july , with 10.10.5 I think, it doesn’t matter which version of osx is installed. ms office 2016 and apple accessibility
Hello all, I have just bought ms office 2016 for the mac. During my first use, outlook , word is accessible, excel I haven’t played with it. However, I hope but I am very curious if Apple accessibility should make optimalisations for voiceover so that we can use ms office as good as possible. I mean: in 10.11.1 , there was a optimalisation for osx with ms office 2016 for all users. E.g. In ms outlook: the suggestions of mail-dresses if you type some letters, aren’t shown I think or aren’t shown on a equal way like in mail. And also a big challenge for apple accessibility is testing, testing and testing… Any hints/comments/suggestions are very welcome. installing old version of a iphone-app

I had no complete backup from my iphone6 with the good version of the app but I have a backup from my previous iphone5. frustrated about Apple accessibility
Hello Listers, Here I am not speaking of me questions about activities but about the reaction of accessibility. This is the second time I receive such kind of a answer from accessibility. short explanation: I ask Apple accessibility why my macbook goes so slow when I have build some activities and switch between the programs that are inserted in the activities. They told me that they can’t give support from this mail-adres and that I should contact the (paid) service apple care. In the past, I thought they should ask more steps so that they can try to reproduce the issue. or in the worst case: “we wil forward this to the appropriated people”. bringing multiple pdf-files together in one pdf document
Hello all, I red something that you can add multiple pdf-files to one pdf-document with preview. However, it should be possible to drag and drop files from the finder in the active document in preview. This doesn’t work for me with vo+, and vo+. to drag and drop files. Anyway, can someone here combine multiple pdf-files in one pdf-file ? A workaround could be to oc all files together to one file but there is perhaps something better. Thx for the advices. 10.11 and braille
Hello all, I was reading the bug and feature report of Kris , thx for that. As announced in that blog, there was not much braille testing with 10.11 while this is for me and others important. Some first remarks: 1. It happens often that I have braille on the display but I can’t move around. The trick seems to be that I have to switch to another program and then I should come back. A kind of screen refreshing is needed here perhaps? 2. I turn vo-cursor on the braille display off because dots 7 and 8 are used for capitals and some computer signs. When this is turned off, I can’t see on the display which application has the focus while switching from app to app with command+tab. (Yes, I can hear it but sometimes I don’t use sound if I am in a course. I suggested accessibility to put the selected program on the most left position on the display or, like in windows with jaws, only the selected program should appear on the display while switching from one program to another. 3. Not all controls like radiobuttons , checkboxes, comboboxes, edit-fields , are presented with symbols on the display. Mostly, they are fully written in dutch “keuzerondje=radiobutton, aankruisvakje=checkbox, keuzelijst=combobox … This should be represented with symbols like { }/{x} [ ] [x] ( )/(x) … I subpose that the controls like above, are presented with this kind of symbols when the interface-language is set on English. This is een old question I think but still not changed. Re: annoying quicknav problem in osx 10.10 and 10.11
Hello all, this tread has become a mixed tread but I am speaking about the original question. I thought that the quicknav letters on a webpage only should work when the cursor isn’t in a interacted edit-field. So, I thought that I could combine the quicknav keys on a webpage on one side and type anything I want in interacted edit-fields when I am interacted with that field. If this is what it should be, I have found a bug I think. Ok, I can set off the quickness keys on the quicknav section of the voiceover program but if it goes automatic, it’s much better ;) thx for your comments, William > Op 17-sep.-2015, om 19:01 heeft Christina C.het > volgende geschreven: > > I also cannot type in text fields when quick nav is on. annoying quicknav problem in osx 10.10 and 10.11
Hello all, I have 2 frustrating quicknav problems (at the moment I use the gm of El Capitan but this problems where also present with osx 10.10) 1: sometimes when I am in a interacted formfeeld on a webpage to fill in text , I can’t pressing some letters while quicknav is on. e.g. if I press “c” in a word to type in that field, voiceover says that no checkbox is found. I thought that quicknav should detect in a form field that letters ware symbols to fill in an aren’t commands , together with the quicknav command. Specially on a website , where I mainly use quicknav, is this very frustrating. This seems a old bug to me that isn’t fixed… ok, a workaround could be to turn of quicknav but it’s easy to forgot… Any suggestions? And the second problem about quicknav: When I change the rotor for some reasons to e.g. words, it’s sometimes frustrating that the arrow-keys aren’t working normally in finder if the setting was set before to words. Here, it should be nice if you could set a default rotor position when entering a new program. Ok , Here, I could turn of quicknav to solve it. Anny sugestiong/comments are very welcome. Kind regards, William Windels ps: I have tried to use the feedback assistant of osx el capitan but, there were some errors in my support-request I couldn’t determine (marked in red) -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. Re: login on a remote disc
hoi Chris and others, thx for the response. With command+k, I have just discovered that username@ip-adres brings also up the login as dialoge. But, the pasword, I can’t give as a parameter. But next to that, and if I understand well of you, the backups are not ready to browse in the finder if no backup is made on that moment. Is this right? installing sword 2016 on the mac
Hello all, since 9 juli mosaic 2016 for mac is released. I had the preview version installed before but I see no option to upgrade to a full version. If I press the upgrade button, the app is crashing. Anyway, I have 2 questions: 1. is msoffice 2016 and word on the first place, mainly accessible in the final release? 2. It seems I can’t install a trial without doing a registrationproces.. So frustrating sometimes that many software companys needs to know personal information before to download even a test-version. If the office-suite is mainly accessible, where can I find the (trial)installation-package? quality of osx with voiceover for people with dissablities
Hello, I am writing to you since the progress of the accessibility features are really pour in the last releases of osx 10.10.2. The mac is still missing some important features against windows with a commercial screenreader, and this after more 6 years of voiceover as built-in screenreader. Ok, voiceover is still a free, built-in screenreader but on windows , there are 2 free screenreader for the windows platform that are better in some cases than voiceover. Braille is still very basicnin osx: Some daily problems I discover with voiceover: I can’t follow courses with only braille output (without speech) during colleges. I mean: there is some important information missing on the braille display that’s only available with speech. What is missing: 1- no option for word wrapping: this can be useful for fast reading (loudly); 2- no different modes line, structured, speech (like in jaws): specialy structured mode in jaws is configurable, type of controls is shown, interaction-levels could be shown on this way. It’s e.g. very frustrating if you are in a text area and you can read all with the braille-line but you can’t edit or simply move the cursor to any position that is visible on the braille display. 3- to know if quicknav is on/off before moving isn’t possible also. On this way , it’s very easy to lose your position in a text-area or a window. The quick-nav option has also some bugs in general but is sometimes very useful for navigation (and specially on a macbook). 4- In some cases, the text that’s in the voiceover cursor is (always) underlineed with dots 7-8. On this way , no other attributes are shown and the cursor isn’t shown. Re: insert multiple files in one document
Hello David and others, I have tried to insert multiple txt-files in one new pages-document with pages09 and this I could do without any problem. But also here: the doc-files where dimmed. My conclusion at this point is that I can’t insert multiple doc-files in one document in one step on the mac. If this is really true, this is simply a very stupid and unacceptable missing feature on the mac for voiceover users… The last weeks, I am more and more disappointed about basic operations that needs always a workaround or are simply not possible. Ok, microsoft should make a accessible office-product for us but , Apple isn’t always making products that give possibilities for all daily needs. ms-office documents are much more available on the internet and on workplaces than Apple-formats. Hi, thx for the workaround about the .-symbol in the search field. However idd, this is a workaround. That this feature isn't present you said, seems strange to me. some calendar issues on osx 10.10.1 and iOS 8.1.2
Hello , Managing appointments is changing fast on iOS/osx depending of the new versions of the os and the changes Apple makes to this program. At the moment, I find it uncomfortable on osx to manage my appointments: I can’t browse all my appointments in a kind of list view so that I see al my made appointments across different dates in the future. Also, adding a appointment is not so comfortable: When I type the description, I see no braille, after typing the description , I couldn’t go to the next control to add location/specify time/date… with quicknav on/off : not with the arrow keys or the trackpad. If I press enter after typing the description, the voiceover goes to a kind of task bar (don’t know the word in English: bar with buttons : agenda’s view switcher and a search field). The only way to make a appointment is to type something in the description-field like: appointment on 3/1/2015 from 10:00 until 18:00 Also when I do command+t to goo to a specific date, I have to do a kind of mouse-click so that I should go to the asked date. I hope this bugs are a little bit clear and, any hints or other programs are very welcome. hello, yesterday, i configured my new macmini witch succes except the magic trackpad. the trackpad was turned on and i could see that thee trackpad was connected with bluetth to my mac mini in the bluetooth panel. in voiceover, i turned on trackpad but i couldn't use voiceover with the trackpad. turning 2 fingers clockwise on the trackpad with the vo keys was not solving the problem. so, the trackpad do'nt work at the moment with vo. the oonly think i can think: while connecting the trackpad for the first time, the setup asked mme to move the cursor with the trackpad to the buttoon next but this wasn't poossible for me since voiceover couldn't use the trackpad at that moment. any ideas? many thanx foor the suggestions and the help Mvg william Windels Verstuurd vanaf mijn iPhone -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups MacVisionaries group. multitouch trackpad with mac mini (2014) and osx 10.10
Hello, I bought the newest mac mini with osx 10.10 installed on it and also with a magic trackpad. I have configured the mac mini successfully except the magic trackpad : is not working with voiceover. The trackpad commander is activated in the voiceover preferences and the trackpad is turned on and successfully connected with bluetooth to the mac mini. The only thing I can think about is the procedure to connect the trackpad to the mac: on a moment, I had to move with the magic trackpad to the next button to connect the trackpad. This wasn’t possible for me I think because voiceover wasn’t recognizing the trackpad at that moment so I couldn’t move with the cursor to the button. Any hints to connect my magic trackpad to my mac mini are very welcome. opening not authorized programs
Hello, I was trying to open a program that I have downloaded from the internet but I couldn’t do that because my security settings where set to allow only programs to install from the app store and known developers. Perhaps , this is a good/save option but sometimes , I would like to install other programs also. I know , I can change this in the security pannel but there is also a option with control and clicking on the program to allow to install that program only. My question: is there a way for vo-users to select this option for one time with a similar procedure? (old) bug with voiceover
Hello, I am still using mavericks on my macbook air 2012 (4gb ram) and have the following questions : 1. When I do 2 fingers down on my trackpad to read the text from the cursor to the bottom, the cursor is jumping every time to the beginning of the document and starts reading from there. This bug appear in different editors: textedit, pages missus writer pro… 2. moving around in rtf text in textedit, pages and nidus writer pro with quicknav off is not working consistently. I can’t move lines down up without the cursor that is jumping away without reason. This problem is gone when I convert the text to plain text. In my opinion , selecting text is one of the basic tasks on a computer but not every time simple on osx. On a macbook air, I do command+shift+down-arrow to select text from the cursor to the end of the file, is this correct? Possible problems: - the selection proces should be stopped because of some (hidden) escape characters in the text. If this is the case, it seems strange to me for a screenreader that is more then 5 years old; - the selection proces should be stopped because some bars on the screen that are part of the editor that is used: That I can understand since this is also the case on ms word with windows an a screenreader like jaws. - or perhaps because of the quicknav that’s on: in my opinion with quicknav on , this should also work to select text when the rotor is e.g. in line-mode; Since 10.6, the introduction of quicknav , this was/is a great feature but still has the same bugs as 10.6. E.g. When moving with quicknav on in pages , I am switching between the main text area and the feedtekst/toptekst area (if this is the right word in English) 3. evolutions of braille: Since the introduction of braille in 10.5, only a few features have been added: more braille tables and the possibility to set off the quick messages. Perhaps some other improvements but they are little I think. What is still missing after 6 years of evolution from 10.5 to 10.9: - no option for word wrapping, - no different modes line, structured, speech (like in jaws). This should be useful while working without speech (while following courses). With the braille only, it’s not always clear if you have to interact, press a button , can copy text … if speech is disabled. - No option for unlimited or 8 pixels for a space: useful to hide more than one space and so more information on the braille display. - underlining of text when the text is in the vo-cursor gives no advantage at all I tink. So, the dots 7 and 8 are not free to mark styles of the text or if the text is selected or not. I hope but I don’t think so that most of this problems are solved in 10.10. I red something about quicknav in safari, and this is good but I haven;t heard anything about braille. Any comments are very welcome. Hello, I would like to buy a has disc. It should be my first has disc and I don't know that much about the types that exists at the moment. I would like to have the following: - a nas disc with as good as accessible interface (from osx, windows and iOS); - accessing the files from osx , windows and iOS; - the nas disc should also have the function of a time-machine backup disc; - I think a storage of at least 2tb should be possible? conversion of multiple ppt(x) files at once
Hello, I am looking for a simple way to convert multiple documents between different formats. Specially ppt(x) files I need to convert to a text-format: rtf, txt, doc, pdf. Google found a program: doxillion that is enough accessible with voiceover and there is a free version to try. Unfortunately , the paid mac-version gives nothing more in my opinion and for my needs: it can't also convert ppt(x) files to another format while the windows-version do it for the same price ;) It would so nice if someone could give me a mac-solution for ppt(x) conversion for multiple files at once. working with numbers
Hello all, I did my first real steps with numbers 13 and I have some questions: I was looking after some windows alike navigation options I couldn't find in the hotkey summary: move to the next/ previous cel with contents up/down or left/right, IN ms office , I think you can do this with control +up/down or left/right, IN the hotkey summary, there are also some hotkeys that are based on the mouse. e.g. to select a whole row/column, you should click on a cel in that row/column and then select the corresponding number for the row or letter for the column. Does this work with voiceover? If there are special hints for iWork's 13 with voiceover and specially numbers, it would be great to hear of it. iOS 7.1.1 and some problems
Hello, I thinks since iOS 7.1.1 on my iphone 5, I have some strange problems. 1. In the calendar: I can't always changing starting/ending time (date, hours, minutes). And a second problem that occur in different native iOS apps: I swipe to a button, the button is spoken and when I do a double tab on the screen, I hear the sound like there is no element selected for activation. I hope that this problems are clearly explained and perhaps someone can give suggestions or confirmations of this problems. Once on the next one, vo-cmd-enter (only once from here on out). 4. Once you have done this for all the contacts you want, cmd-c, move to your new group, and cmd-v. statusbar in 10.9.2 mavericks
Hello everyone, Since some time, I believe since mavericks or perhaps also in 10.8, the icons like dropbox , Skype, and other tirdparty apps can't be activated with vo+space. Re: statusbar in 10.9.2 mavericks

pages 13 and ms-office compatibility
Hello all, I have discovered that pages 13 is a nice evolution for accessibility. I try to work with it as default wordprocessor with quiet good results. However, I was wondering if I could do a import of fonts or other style object to have the maximum as possible compatibility with ms office. Re: PDF documents and filling in PDF forms.
hello all, I am very interested in filling in pdf-documents. I have just installed pdfpen but, it seems I couldn’t fill in/overwrite ……… fields. I went to edit mode with command+2 but no chance. I had tested it with pdfpen and saw then that there was also a pdfpenpro version. Unfortunately, there was no upgrade function so, I have paid twice : 1 time for the normal version and 1 time for the pro? But also in the pro, I see no ways to fill in forms with command2 =editmode. The pdf is with text (no images) so I can read all very well. Perhaps are there some other dependenties that can make a pdf-document inaccessible for us to write in? Kind regards for any suggestions. Not sure why that was but I cheated and re-printed it to a PDF on my end and that seemed to fix it. To do that, even if you don't have a printer set up on the Mac, you just hit command-P. This will pop a print dialog with various printer options including picking a printer. Mine said No Printer Selected. Anyway, ignore most of what's in that dialog and just after the help button you'll find a PDF Menu button and if you drop that down you'll find Save As PDF as the second option. In general, you can use this to make a PDF of most document and web pages. Might not always be super accessible since it's just redirecting printer output. That sometimes puts parts of the page out of order and other common problems, but it can be handy. My hardware = braille display including firmware haven’t changed so, in my opinion, the problem is only caused by the os. It’s so disappointing that apple doesn’t make any priority of supporting older hardware on the way it was in previous versions. As quality label, waiting more then 3 months for a fix of this essential hardware problem, for blind users, is not acceptable in my opinion. creating repeating appointments on calendar with osx
Hello, It seems so frustrating sometimes to work with the calendar on osx 10.8.3: I want to create a appointment that repeated every 2 weeks starting at 23/4/2013 and ending 18/6/2013. I have several problems to set this specific repetition of every 2 weeks: When I chose for a specific repetition in the combo box, I have a dialogue box. There the frequention is set to every week in the combo box and this is ok for me. then vo+right end I can fill in a number for every x weeks the event should repeate. Then vo+right and I can fill in on which day(s) of the week the event should repeat with checking or unchecking the checkbox next to every day of the week. Here, while the speech is saying checked, braille is showing unchecked. ;) Also here: every checkbox that has vo-cursor on my braille display, becomes checked… When I close this dialogue box for the days of the week and the frequent ion with the ok-button, the focus isn't jumping back automatically to the screen with the basic information of my event… Also , when I change a appointment that's part of a repetition, There is a message that asks if I want to change all the appointments of the repetition or only the event I am editing. Unfortunately, this question is asked in a new window but is not having focus automatically. Conclusion: If this situation is clear and true, I can only conclude that the calendar in 10.8.3 has some voiceover bugs that will be fixed next to some new bugs Apple ail make. In my personal opinion, the quality of voiceover in osx is going down and the advantage of having one company for the os and the screenreader is not a advantage since they do not enough tests before the release and are debugging so slowly sometimes. Hello, When I have a appointment with a repetition e.g. every day at 5pm during 7 days, I can't change the time for one particular day in that repetition on osx. If I do the same action on iOS, I receive a message like: do you want touch change the time for this day only or for all the days in the repetition? If this bug is really the case, it's sometimes so frustrating that apple is doing only a half of there tests they should do for a good working system. free accessble alternative for the switch convertor
Hello, I think, it was discussed before about audio conversion on the mac but I can't remember. I would like to convert mov-files to mp3. Since the switch app isn't free anymore, I was wondering if there is a accessible free alternative that can convert at least mov to mp3. blind memory problems on my iphone5 with ios6.1
Hello, For who is playing blind memory, I have troubles with the game. It works fine to start and I can play the game but when I make a mistake in the sequences of gestures, I hear the sound of a wrong gesture and nothing more. I mean: I don't hear my result. I haven,t asked assistance from a sighted user so I don't know if the programs really crashing but when I put voiceover back on, I am out of the program. Also strange, the program seems not available anymore in the app store but stays on my phone after synchronization. What are the possibilities to contact the author or what solutions/workarounds do others have for this problem? pdf2html with batchconversie, does it exist anymore?
Hello, in the past , I had a program for the terminal to convert pdf to html. It was a command-line program and was working fine for me. Since I have reinstalled my new macbook air with mountain lion on it, I can't find that program anymore. Is here someone that uses this program a the moment and can give me the file or a link to download it? thx for your responses, kind regards, William Windels -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups MacVisionaries group. ocr apps comparison for the mac
Hello, I was wondering which ocr-app is the best at the moment. I have abbyy fine reader express and it works good but no that much features. What I miss there is scanning and ocr simultaneously and automatically. as far as I understand, I have to scan first and the process all scanned pages for ocr. Also, there are no preferences available. Prizmo has perhaps more features but it seems , after a few test, that the ocr-proces is better of abby then prizmo. Docuscan plus is not a app to scan and ocr texts? I was looking after a podcast of applevis where is described how to scan, I thought it was with docuscan. So, What kind of app is accessible and able to manage the scan-prices and ocr the scanned text at the same time? thx for all responces, kind regards, William -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups MacVisionaries group. pdfconvertion (with a virtual printer)?
Hello, I was thinking of the pdf problem: Is there no possibility to install a virtual printer driver on the mac so that you can print to a (txt)-file from any application like preview? Other solutions: I was looking for the program for mac called pdftohtml: it is a program I have used in the past from the terminal but it seems I can't find the mac version anymore. Any hints: about a printer drive that can print any file to a txt/rtf file or a valid copy/version of pdftohtml for the mac should be very welcome. win7 ultimate on macbook air with bootcamp
Hello, I have installed win7 ultimate with bootcamp and the system works. But, it seems the system loads very slow and it takes a long time after windows will start: I hear the shound of the booting mac, then I have a screen (I suppose bootcamp) for a wile and after that, win7 boots. How can I examine what's the reason of this delay? and then a little question of topic: it seems not yet possible for me to load my nuance voice with nvda 3.1 on my win7 system. The nuance voice is installed and can speak but I can't see any way to let nvda use this voice in win7 ultimate. Re: A request to contact apple about pages. and article about accessibility problems
hello, I will contact them also about this and other issues with iWork's. What I am thinking also: why has nobody written a article for e.g. macworld about the accessibility issues in osx? Since accessibility is a department inside apple, it's available for everyone but it isn't still sufficient for all daily needs like office. There are a lot of articles for the main public about bugs, problems, feature requests but not about accessibility? I would like to help but don't know how to start with it. You can also contact me off list if you have good suggestions/toughts about a article Kind regards, William Windels Op 7-feb.-2013, om 01:31 heeft Christopher-Mark Gilland clgillan...@gmail.com het volgende geschreven: Hey Chris. Hi all. To some this isn't important to you at all but please I'm asking for your assistance to contact apple about pages and the following issue. I have already contacted them about the issue and i hope somebody on this list will as well. The issue i have currently with pages is voiceover doesn't announce the text alignment. It however will announce this within text edit and nidus writer express. Would anybody be so kind to help me and also contact apple's support team? I have sent an email to apples pages team as well as apple accessibility. This is an issue for me currently that is a very annoyance because papers at my university have to be aligned in many ways. If anybody has any suggestions for me, please let me know. Thank you for your time. Re: mac application prismo is half price in Mac app store
Hello, This app seems interesting, accessible with voiceover and seems to have more features then abby fine reader express that I am using on the mac. However, I can figure out if this program is also designed to work with a scanner: should it be possible to start/stop my scanner from inside the program? Or is this program (only) designed to import pictures from the hd to ocr them? If I can use the program with my scanner, is it also possible to scan from inside the app while the ocr process is going? Thx for your remarks. Try going to the Macupdate page for this app and use the Download Now link: http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/31157/prizmo I would be cautious about this, since I think Anne Robertson purchased Prizmo version 1, and wasn't very happy with it. On the other hand, many people who did not think much of the first version seem to like the second version. Not some thing I would buy without trying. Please note that you may need to make your purchase from the Mac App store to get the discounted MacWorld special price. HTH. Re: mac application prismo is half price in Mac app store
Hello all, I have played a little bit with it and indeed, It's possible to scan from inside the app but abbyy fine reader express seems to be a better job to ocr the text. Also, it seems I can't ocr the text from inside the app when the text is scanned from inside the app. Ocr seems only to work when I open a image in prizmo. so, my first conclusions: the ocr isn't even good as abbyy fine reader express and ocr from a scanned paper from inside the app seems not possible. Op 1-feb.-2013, om 23:46 heeft Mary Otten motte...@gmail.com het volgende geschreven: This is advertised as a Macworld special, so I would guess it will not be on long. But if you're running at least ios 10.7.5, this could be a good scanning application. I'm on s/l still, so it is a no go for me. It is supposedly vo friendly. mary Mary Otten motte...@gmail.com -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups MacVisionaries group.
