I use it. and I have done 2 dances with it jsut fine. Its mostly controld from
the keybord, although you can use a midi controler as well. I have done both.

DJ3 is what I am talking about. its well worth the money. I have made my money
back several times just in doing 2 dances. I made a grand total of $525. The
program only cost me $50... you do the math. lol.

Re: an accessible DJIng tool for mac

2010-07-14 Thread clarence griffin
I don't know about about vst's but I use a program called DJ3. everything you
need for mixing, cross fading, beat matching, cutting, transforming, delay,
back and forward spinning, breaking, cueing, and everything is right there on
the keybord, even setting eq settings.
The program costs around $50 USD.

lol. I wonder what it will do with some of the displays I have here. I should
try it. I should try shooting the desktop on the screen of my computer. lol. or
writing something in a blank document. I shall try that. lol

Re: saytext is available

2010-06-29 Thread clarence griffin
maybe the camera isn't getting the light it needs to focus or maybe the print
is not clear enough. who knows. there are so many things that it could be.
Maybe the type of paper. Maybe there are images on the paper behind the text
that could be throwing it off. It could be lots of things. the font of the text
could be another thing.
For a free program folks, this thing can really go some ware. Luck its not me.
I would charge all you complaining bastards for all the hard work. I figure if
I am going to get complained at, I might as well get paid for it. lol.
But yeah folks, lets help this developer to help us. Write him with ideas and
don't wine about how it doesn't work. Its free for crying out loud and we
should be thankful that there are people willing to take time to do something
like this, and not charge us out the but for it like other people.

in the surch box, "saytext doc scanner". I tested it with iphone 3gs
but found that OCR results are bad. Also, the phone would not beep to
tell me that the document is in focus as explained in the youtube
demo. I hope someone els can try it and perhaps you would have better
 luck than me.

you don't. just press command X and it does all the work. you pick the folder
or location you want the file, and it goes.

Oh, but you can. lol. OUr dear friend Bryan Smart has created a script. I will
leave it up to him to pass it around though. I don't know if he is going to
charge for it. I doubt it though. He can tell you more about it. Its pretty
kool. All you do is press command X like normal, and it will bring up a dialog
that looks like the file browse dialog. You choose the folder you want the file

from the other location. so it basically simulates a cut and paste. Pretty neet

bible app

2010-06-28 Thread clarence griffin
I am trying to find a new bible app. I am messing with mac sword, but I don't
really understand it that well. Maybe someone can help me off list or
something. I just need to know some basic navigation tips. I want to know how
to browse by book and …chapter. Where can I read the results of my searches? I
see the toolbar and I know how to search, but I am sitting here in Church right
now, and I want to read along, and am having trouble. Thanks for any help..

well not so much burned twice, you can wait it out and the new version will be
accessible at least, you still need the hardware though.

Re: pro tools LE

I think you need hardware for that one. the only version of PT that can use
anything other than digidesign hardware is the mPowered one. Sorry, I think you
are out of luck. and if its not version 8.0.4, witch I don't think is out yet
for LE BTW, you are burned twice.

Re: Do you need a mixer to broadcast on a Mac?

2010-06-25 Thread clarence griffin
I figured it out, you need to press shift m to check the mic, then you will
hear VO say "DJ has new window." then you go to your window chooser and find
the mic window and press enter on it. you will then be in a window where all
your settings for the mic are.

Re: djay 3

Well as far as the scratching, I don't think it is. If it is, I haven't gotten
it to work yet. What do you want to know about it? I know that in the help is a
keyboard shortcut section. If you want any help with anything else just ask One
of us will try to answer your question.
Saturday I have a gig, and will be using DJ out for the first time. I will let
you guys know how that went. I have been practicing at home here, and I have
some pretty good stuff to say about it. I really can't sum it all up here, but
lets just say that the program rocks from just sitting here in my studio
playing with it.

Re: Do you need a mixer to broadcast on a Mac?

2010-06-21 Thread clarence griffin
you an play ogg files with dj. And it is just what is says, a virtual dj set.
you get 2 turn tables, and a mixer. It interfaces with iTunes and allows you to
mix your music as if you were a dj, complete with beat matching fading, and
turn table fx like back spins, breaks, and it even takes advantage of the A U
fx that are in the mac.
The cost for this program is around $50

Re: Do you need a mixer to broadcast on a Mac?

DJ is a mixer. your left and right arrows switch from table 1 to table 2
respectively. I haven't figured out how to use the mic yet. I have a dj gig
this weekend, so I will more than likely take a mixer with me just for the mic,
but other than that, I think I am just going to use dj, my external hard drive,
an amp, and my speakers. That's pretty much all you need, unless you throw an
eq in there to model the sound for the area you are in.

there is an option to prerecord your set, if that's what you are talking about.
I think you can use a mic, but I can't seam to get my mic working with it yet.
I have only had it for a few hours, so I am still learning. I will let you know
my findings as soon as I find them.

I can see the unknown table. Its nothing more than the iTunes play lists.
I forgot how to make it show though. I did it once and now I can't see it

DJ again

2010-06-16 Thread clarence griffin
I think I figured out some keyboard shortcuts that are really cool. they really
make use of the hole keyboard. I know how to start and stop each table, load
songs on to the tables, sync the songs up by tempo. and other stuff too. I am
really liking this. I wonder if there is a usb dj mixer that I can get that
will run this thing. That would be too cool. Kind of like srato scratch live or
something. I am going to buy it though. its accessible enough for me to use,
and I think its worth it.
Thanks for the recommendation.

Wow, this program is nice. I just need to figure out how to load songs
in to the tables. If I can sit here and do a set at home, I will buy this
program for sure. I labeled all the check boxes and there is a list that just
says unknown. what's that all about?
Thanks for any help on this.
Oh, and BTW, I really don't care about the fx all that much. I just want to be
able to cross fade songs from table 1 to table 2.

Re: explaining the rotor gesture in writting, any suggestions?

2010-06-15 Thread clarence griffin
And I just figured out another way to do it. Take 1 finger and place it on the
track pad, then take another finger on the same hand and kind of swipe it up or
down next to that finger. All this while holding down your voice over keys.
Control+Option.
Let me know how that works for you guys.

I see something that says fx. and there is nothing in the list. How does one go
about applying fx to recordings or even monitoring with fx? Thanks.

What do you mean by session in this case? I am kind of lost as to how they are
using that word. I see a list of "sessions" can I go back to one of those and
resume recording or something?

it should be under music and a folder called audio highjack. but you can
specify where they go from with in the main screen. or maybe preferences.

DJ Sortware on the mac?

2010-06-14 Thread clarence griffin
I have a couple DJ gigs coming up and I want to know if there is anything that
will allow me to setup play lists and maybe even preview songs before playing
them out loud? iTunes is cool, and I know how to do play lists on that, but I
can't send that to another card, and I don't want VO to be yelling at the crowd
while they are dancing. lol. So Any thing out there that would be good for
doing parties and such? Thanks.

Re: Turning off the Trackpad

2010-06-13 Thread clarence griffin
how can that be simple if you need a device that isn't even connected to the
computer? I don't have an apple mouse. so I found that the easier way is to
again. press VO and while holding that down, take 2 fingers and twist to the
left on the track pad, like turning a knob. I am not trying to be an ass here,
but it really doesn't get any easier than that.

Re: Turning off the Trackpad

2010-06-13 Thread clarence griffin
or you could press your VO keys and do a left or right 2-fingered-twist on your
track pad. lol. that's the easy way.
Twist is like turning a knob on a radio or something.
Hope that helped.
