Re: Apple to Remove the Home Button from Future iPads and iPhones?
It could or, Apple could just do something clever like they have previously. I can't remember how many times I heard Apple will never make an accessible phone with a qwerty keyboard or any variation comments. Then apple comes out with a revolutionary touch screen only design and rocks the market. Clearly they put a lot of time in to their designs for all accessibility methods, they will do something else like presses of the volume keys or scratching your left gentlemans parts 3 times. :) On Jan 17, 2011, at 3:41 AM, Kevin Shaw wrote: > Saw this story and thought I'd pass it along. Four and Five Finger Gestures was Re: Apple to Remove the Home Button from Future iPads and iPhones?
Scott's right. According to everything I've read, the new gestures work with the iPad IOS, not iPhone 4.3. One article that was sent to this list specifically said that they do not work with the iPhone. Other articles simply don't mention the iPhone when discussing these gestures. Re: Apple to Remove the Home Button from Future iPads and iPhones?
rather than removing the home buttons can't they do something more constructive by putting in an vibration feedback when the devices come on. Re: Apple to Remove the Home Button from Future iPads and iPhones?
I was thinking about that as well actually. The only way I can see it working is if your fumb is at the bottom of the screen and your other 4 fingers are at the top. Even then, it doesn't sound overly smooth. I do like the idea of controling multitasking using jestures though; I always thought that the app switcher could have been a bit better ad that it could load a bit faster come to think of it. Re: Apple to Remove the Home Button from Future iPads and iPhones?
I don't think this will effect VO accessibility much. They can simply turn it from triple press of home, to triple press of sleep/power button. As far as the iPhone is concerned, I'm more worried about these 4 and 5 finger gestures they're reportedly thinking about. It wouldn't be any trouble on a iPad with all that screen real estate but, on an iPhone? I couldn't imagine many adults being able to do a 5 finger pinch gesture with comfort. The screen is just too small. Apple to Remove the Home Button from Future iPads and iPhones?
Saw this story and thought I'd pass it along. This could spell trouble for some of the accessibility features on the iPhone, for example, triple-clicking the home button to toggle VO on and off. http://www.macrumors.com/2011/01/13/apple-to-remove-home-button-from-future-ipads-and-iphones/ Kevin -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group.
