RE: Adding a Language?

2022-02-08 Thread Fazil M.
I don’t like Lekha, so I guess I am ok with the other guy.

Thanks much for your help again.

Hi,

The only Hindi voices I’ve seen in VoiceOver are Lekha and Neel. In the VO
Utility, go to Speech, then VO-space on the current voice menu item, and down
to Customize. In the Search field, type Hindi, and you’ll find what they have
to offer at this point in time.

Hi,

It’s in System Preferences, Languages & Region. You should have a button in
this pane that says “Add a preferred language”. A list of supported languages
will come up in a table. Hinki is one of them. As my Mac read through them,
it would read them out in their native tongue, then say Russian, or Hungarian,
or Hindi etc. Hindi is one of the languages within this table. It does not
appear to be alphabetical so you’ll likely have to go down a ways to find Hindi.

HTH.

Any help/recommendations are greatly appreciated.

Is this braille or speech?

For speech, there is a table of voices that starts out with one entry in it.
Just below the table is a "add language" button. clicking this will add a
secondary language.

Feel free to reply if this is not enough information, or if you were thinking
of Braille.

Best wishes,

Well in my case if i put in another keyboard, instead of the swedish word
”skrivbord” it says ”desk top” and then continues speaking Swedish. I think all
VO commands get switched to english for some weird reason.

Re: Adding another language without VO going nuts

2018-08-23 Thread Michael Busboom
Hi, Krister,

I have two keyboards on my MacBook 2016, US English and German. I do not have
the Mac switch output languages automatically.

The way I switch between keyboards is to use the Command-Space combination. In
my case, the command toggles between the two keyboard languages without
impacting the output languages. I just switch output languages by using the
Shift-Control-Option-Command and cursor through the options. In a recent
update, Apple did something I didn’t like. Even if I am listening to a text in
German, VO pronounces some words in English when it thinks it should. They
even throw in a fake German-sounding type of accent when voicing these words.
Furthermore, whenever I am listening to a German text, URLs within the text are
announced in English, with this same sort of fake accent.

I hope that this might shed some light on your situation, but if it doesn’t, I
am sorry.

Best regards,

Mike
