I use the USB option to connect my Mac and I don’t think my connection drops. I
successfully used my iPhone 13 once to connect Zoom, Clubhouse, and stream so
it works pretty well! I limit other traffic like Dropbox and what not to help
out though.

Re: Connecting a PC to an iPhone mobile hot spot?

2023-08-02 Thread Brad Snyder
The Mac will stay connected to your iPhone’s hotspot as long as there is
data/traffic going between the hotspot and the Mac. When the traffic stops,
the connection is dropped in order to not needlessly consume your limited
hotspot data on your plan.

Re: Connecting a PC to an iPhone mobile hot spot?

2023-08-02 Thread 'Donna Goodin' via MacVisionaries
I’ve never tried to do anything that elaborate. When I use the hot spot, I’m
just trying to do work stuff, so I’m continuously interacting with the Mac.
Maybe that’s the difference?

2023-08-02 Thread josephlhodge
For me that isn’t the case. When using my Mac lets say I am streaming some
music yes the Hotspot stays active. However, if I lets say download a 30 minute
radio program once I listen to that and go back to try and use data from my Mac
connected to my hotspot its disconnected and I have to reestablish connecting
to the hotspot on my Mac. It is easier since as you mentioned you have the
Apple tie in, but its annoying none the less.

Yeah this is one time I am going to say can't blame windows for this
one, I remember years ago when Android was my daily driver hotspot
worked perfectly, and was even able to use it as my only internet for
a bit. Can't do that with my IPhone even if I wanted to.

Hey Donna,

Actually the time out issue is on Apples’s end as it does it no matter what

had issues. Jason and Herbie, my next step was going to be to try connecting

It seems to be kind of flakey I have gotten it to work but then there
are times where my computer doesn't see the hotspot.

Re: Connecting a PC to an iPhone mobile hot spot?

2023-08-02 Thread joseph hodge
Donna you have to do two things to have your hotspot show up on your pc. First
is have the screen open to the hotspot screen on your ipHone also make sure
that share hotspot with others is turned on your iPhone. If you screen goes to
sleep during the session and your computer isn’t downloading anything or
sending some sort of data it will go to sleep and disconnect your hotspot. I
actually set my phone to screen never lock when I am using this.

Re: Connecting a PC to an iPhone mobile hot spot?

2023-08-02 Thread Dave Carlson
Make sure the iPHone settings have it as discoverable. Other than that, I have
no experience using a non-Apple product when tethering.

Hi all,

Anyone know if this is possible? I have my mobile hot spot turned on on my
iPhone, but my Pc doesn’t seem to see it. If it is possible, can anyone
outline the steps? Pc running Windows 11. Feel free to write off-list, as
this is only tangentially Apple related, doniado...@me.com
