2015-10-28 Thread Nicolai Svendsen
Hi

It does. As soon as you paste the command, it will display the word "password"
but use the VoiceOver cursor to verify, although it shouldn't be necessary. You
can just enter it and press return, then wait. It will take some time. You will
see a line of text showing computer name and current path when done.

The password prompt must occur before it copies files I believe.
I, too, tried to make a bootable disk of 10.11, but it never worked.

Re: How to make a bootable OS X El Capitan USB key

2015-10-12 Thread Sabahattin Gucukoglu
The partition is otherwise usable, but don’t move anything already put there by
the installer. Only add files. Although it would theoretically be possible to
slice up the disk and use only one slice for the installer, I don’t think
that’s what the CreateInstallMedia tool (and, by extension, DiskMakerX, which
uses it) does. I can try it out sometime and let you know if it’s a
possibility, though.

Re: How to make a bootable OS X El Capitan USB key

2015-10-09 Thread eileen . misrahi
Hello,

I used Diskmaker X to create a bootable Yosemite installer. I placed it on an
externa; HD. In the process, it uses the entire partition of the drive. My
question is: Can you make a folder and move it to "with so you have access to
the rest of the drive or do you need to make an additional partition to create
an El Capitan installer Key? I look forward to all suggestions regarding this,
as I would like to begin creating installer versions for future reference.

Thanks in advance.

Best,
Eileen

RE: How to make a bootable OS X El Capitan USB key

2015-10-07 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Dionipher,

I do not understand your comment.

What are you trying to accomplish? It sounds as though you have successfully
created the bootable USB install key for El Capitan.

Are you now attempting to perform a fresh install of El Capitan on your Mac or
are you simply attempting to install El Capitan over your existing copy of
Yosemite. Please be as specific as possible.

Mark
