Oh just thinking

What about the repeat function for each of your alarms,

Have you got that set to the days you need it to alarm or set to the default
which I think is never?

Hi Ramy,

So you're saying that Do Not Disturb was not enabled, BedTime was not enabled,
and the Change with Buttons feature was disabled? Was it charging or not?
What is your volume set at in Settings, Sound?

Hi,

The notifications being silenced is normal if your iPhone is set for "Do Not
Disturb". By default, iPhone's are set to enable Do Not Disturb between 11:00
pm and 7:00 am. This would not be a factor in why you're not hearing your
alarm though. Alarms ignore the Do Not Disturb times as well as should also
sound when you've muted sounds with the side switch. Thus, I suggest that you
go into Settings, Sound, or Sound & Haptics depending on your iPhone, then set
the volume to about 40% and make sure that the "Change with Buttons" item is
"off" or disabled. What this "Change with Buttons" option does, if enabled, is
make your ringer and alerts quieter or louder depending on your volume
settings. So, if it is disabled or "Off", then even when you turn your iPhone
volume down, the ringer and alert volume will remain set at a specific level so
you should never miss the alarm again.

HTH.

Hi Simon and Petrus,

Yes Simon, you are correct with respect to Do Not Disturb. Petrus was
referring to the BedTime feature in the Clock app though, which is slightly
different, but does use similar actions during your set sleep time. I did
check it and, as with Do Not Disturb, alarms will sound if they are set during
the bedtime cycle even if the silence switch is enabled. So, for the original
problem, I still recommend going to Settings, Sound & Haptics, setting the
volume slider thing to 40 or 50%, and making sure that "Change with Buttons" is
disabled. This will make it so that the ringer and alert volume is constant
and not affected by changing the iPhone volume for any other reason.

If you mean the do not disturb function then it doesn’t affect the alarms with

I have alarms set starting at 5:50am every morning week days that is and the do
not disturb is on between 10pm and 7am blocking all incoming text or email
notifications
So it should not be that causing the alarms to not function.

I’d suggest removing and resetting them up again from scratch and include
changing the tone to something that gets attention as from memory it’s a soft
jingly tone that makes little noise to me so I use the classic alarm tone which
does cause me at least to roll over and hit my devices.

Oh yeah I also have 2 iPod touchs and my iPhone that have alarms set at
different times to ensure something wakes my ass up.

Petrus,

I don't believe so. Most of the alarms that are set go right through Do Not
Disturb and even when you have the iPhone silenced with the hardware switch
above the physical volume buttons. It's an idea though and I may just need to
test it to be sure.

The other thing I would try is a simple reboot of the devices in question,

Hi Ramy,

So you're saying that Do Not Disturb was not enabled, BedTime was not enabled,
and the Change with Buttons feature was disabled? Was it charging or not?
What is your volume set at in Settings, Sound?

2019-12-10 Thread Petrus Tuerlings
Hi Tim,
Thanks for the thoughts, but we are both safe. I wish we could say the same for
those people that were exploring the Island at the time. I was wondering if
Auckland might have gotten some of the Ash blowing over but we got spared that
as well. I do remember being able to see the Island from the shore when I was
a kid and thought I’d rather not visit it. But then I live in Auckland which
is built on volcanoes.

Simon and Petrus,

I'm not familiar with the geography of New Zealand, and do not know which of
the islands you both reside on, but do hope that you have not been affected by
ash or any other negative consequences of the volcanic eruption on White Island.

Re: So angry from alarms and notifications

2019-12-10 Thread 'Tim Kilburn' via MacVisionaries

Hi Petrus and tim,

If you mean the do not disturb function then it doesn’t affect the alarms with
in the clock app of the IOS operating systems.

Tim, do you think the Bed time tab in the clock app might have some setting

it a while ago when it first came out and found the volume of the alarm wasn’t
loud enough to wake her up. But it’s properly not related to Ramy’s issue.
The other thing I would try is a simple reboot of the devices in question,
along with closing all of the apps in the app switcher. I think most of us try
that first as it’s amazing the things one can fix just by doing a hard reboot.

HTH.

Well I have the Star Trek red alert tone for my alarm, although I never have to
use it for waking up. I have two very sophisticated alarms that wake me up
every morning, one walks across my pillow just above my head and meows very
loudly and then the other one sits on my pillow and blows in my ear until I
wake up. I just haven’t worked out a way of setting the time on them yet. And
if that doesn’t work my wife has her alarm set so I’ve never had to use mine.

RE: So angry from alarms and notifications

2019-12-09 Thread Simon A Fogarty
Hi Petrus and tim,

If you mean the do not disturb function then it doesn’t affect the alarms with
in the clock app of the IOS operating systems.

Hi Tim and Ramy,
Tim, do you think the Bed time tab in the clock app might have some setting
that might make a difference? I actually never tried using it as my wife tried
it a while ago when it first came out and found the volume of the alarm wasn’t
loud enough to wake her up. But it’s properly not related to Ramy’s issue.
The other thing I would try is a simple reboot of the devices in question,
along with closing all of the apps in the app switcher. I think most of us try
that first as it’s amazing the things one can fix just by doing a hard reboot.

HTH.

Holy moly Simon. that's quite the noise to get you to wake up. I guess I

RE: So angry from alarms and notifications

2019-12-09 Thread Simon A Fogarty
I would suggest deleting and then resetting up the alarms you have and then
using a different tone for the alarms,
Something that is going to make a lot of noise
I change my alarm tone to one of the classic alert tones so that it makes a
noise I'm going to react to. And then I set multiple alarms that will hopefully
get my attention.

Re: So angry from alarms and notifications

2019-12-09 Thread 'Tim Kilburn' via MacVisionaries
Petrus,

I don't believe so. Most of the alarms that are set go right through Do Not
Disturb and even when you have the iPhone silenced with the hardware switch
above the physical volume buttons. It's an idea though and I may just need to
test it to be sure.

Re: So angry from alarms and notifications

2019-12-08 Thread 'Tim Kilburn' via MacVisionaries

HTH.
