When you tried to perform the triple press of home, did your mother, sister, or a person at the place where they bought there device already set it up? If so, this is probably why Voiceover didn't come on when you tried triple pressing the home button. Correct. If the phone is configured as a standard device that doesn't use VO, then Triple click home is not configured by default. The triple click has to be the first thing you do on the device after the screen comes up. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups MacVisionaries group. Re: iPad Question, was re: iCloud question
Hello, I think this is due to a miss understanding of How, why, and when enabling/disabling Voiceover becomes the default action when triple press of home is used. For example, you said your friend does not use voiceover. This means, they did not use Voiceover to set up their iPad. If this indeed the case, they would have to manually go into accessibility settings and enable Voiceover in triple press of home. Since they are not a VO user, this probably was never done. They just turned on VO for you, and handed you the iPad as is. But, if they were a VO user, and in the initial setup they triple pressed home, Voiceover would have came on. And, it would have automatically been set as the default action when triple press of home was used. Many people have there devices setup in stores by sighted people. When this is done, Someone will have to turn on Voiceover for you or, you enable Voiceover with iTunes on your computer. A triple press of home will not work. The applications will be waiting for you in the Application Store. Just login and switch over to Updates tab. Under the Updates tab is a purchased tab. I also once listened to a podcast describing how to use iTunes to move applications to the new IOS device. It could be that just plugging your iPad mini into your computer while iTunes is running will be sufficient and it will ask you if you want to transfer all your applications to the new system. I think it does treat tracks purchased from the iTunes store much like apps in that you can go to purchased and then find the radio button that says not on this computer and download those purchased tracks to another device. Re: iCloud question
No problem. Let us know if you have questions or problems when you actually go through the process. I think you'll really like it though: anything you do to synced data on your iPad will be done on your iPhone and vice versa, even Safari pages, or so I hear. The only thing to keep in mind is that some apps are designed only for the iPad, so if you buy an iPad app, you cannot then download it on the iPhone. The reverse is not true - you can run iPhone apps on the iPad - so keep that in mind as you are looking at apps. Re: iCloud question
I don't know about Snow Leopard since I started my Mac journey at the Lion part of the road. I'm sure google has plenty to say on the subject, however. As for music, iCloud wil not handle that at all unless you pay for the iTunes Match service. Without that, you are left with using iTunes to sync with all your iOS devices, which isn't too bad once you get things set up to owrk over wifi. Re: iPad Question, was re: iCloud question
It seems to vary, but triple click home is not a guarantee, unfortunately. Have your mac on hand just in case, or just have a sighted person help you; it's only a few seconds, after all, then you're off and running. Since you already have an iPhone, you will be fine with most of the gestures the iPad uses. Note that swiping left and right with four fingers while an app is open will move between other open apps, and pinching with four fingers and your thumb will go to the home screen. Swiping four fingers up or down, I don't remember which, will bring up the app switcher. Also, the rotor includes an item called containers. For instance, in settings, the settings categories will be listed on the left and the selected category will be on the right. These two different parts of the screen are called containers, and you can swipe between them with the rotor if you want to. The iPhone's screen is too small to include containers so you won't have seen them before. On Dec 1, 2012, at 3:09 PM, Stacey Robinson stacey...@bellsouth.net wrote: Hi Dave, Thanks, I get that. Hi, did you reactivate iCloud on yur Mac, and check syncing contacts? I would also open address book preferences and make sure your using the iCloud address book and not the addressbook on the Mac.
