Re: itunes help, please!

2016-12-19 Thread Larry Thacker Jr.
Mine also stopped after some time. However, it resumed again when I plugged my
iPhone into power. I have wifi sync turned on. Still no indication from
iTunes other than the chiming that it’s doing anything, but that may at least
explain where the activity is being generated. It chimed several times and now
seems to have stopped again.

Strange, I experience this tube for a little bit but then it stopped. Perhaps
Apple has finally corrected the bug were incorrect songs were matched and
associated with your burned music. If that was the case, then maybe it's just
putting correct songs back in their albums. Have you seen anything on the Apple

Re: itunes help

2014-12-10 Thread Cheryl Homiak
When you add to library, iTunes places your music in folders under Music
iTunes iTunes Media according to artist and that's where you should find
them. You can't just move your folders intact the way you have them into
iTunes. Also, adding to library doesn't erase the folder and files from their
original location so they are still there. I'm not sure if this answers your
question or not.

As far as the trackpad goes, you can't turn it off but make sure you have
trackpad commander disabled in Voiceover Utility; then it shouldn't be as much
of a problem. Another partial solution is to get a magic ttrackpad; when that
is in use, I believe this disables the built-in one.

Re: itunes help

2014-12-10 Thread Tim Kilburn
Hi,

How about, instead of copying the folder into your Home directory, you copy it
into the Automatically Add to iTunes” folder. Items placed in this folder
will be instantly moved into the appropriate locations within iTunes. To
locate this folder, go into your Home directory, Music, iTunes, and iTunes
Media. The “Automatically Add to iTunes” is right there.

I’ll try this, thanks tim.

I’ve come to the conclusion that i’d much rather learn the beast that is
iTunes. why? because if iTunes radio actually costs something to get it’s full
use, i’d rather pay for that then pandora:P

this way tv shows, “some” music and other things including iTunes radio are all
right there….

BTW does anyone know if there’s a plugin for ogg files for iTunes?

Itunes Help needed

2014-06-02 Thread Lee Jones
Dear List, I copied an mp3 album folder into the music section of the itunes
media folder, but when I select music from the pop up in itunes itself it does
not show up. The only tracks that show up are those that I played with itunes
from finder. Itunes shows lots of past played files under music, even
though these files are not in the itunes media folder, and when I activate them
it tells me that itunes no longer has access to the files. I have
automatically add to library turned off, although in the past it turned itself
back on. How do I get it to show just what is in the itunes media folder and
purchased music from the store and nothing else? Is it better to add each
track separately? Is it better to add music through control O in itunes
itself? There seems to be very few preferences for a program that does so many
things. I am running mavericks.
 Kind Regards Lee

some basic itunes help

2013-07-26 Thread Jed Barton
Hey guys,

OK, I've had my mac for a bit, and now have an iphone. I know itunes can do
a lot for you, but I want to keep this really simple.
I don't want it organizing my library at all, cause I have a very specific
way that I do it for cataloging purposes.
What I'd like to do is have a bunch of tracks, in a folder, and just load
them on my iphone, is this doable? If so, what's the best way to do it?
I haven't even played with itunes on the mac or iphone yet.

Looking to keep it really simple like I did in the pc days of using winamp.
Also, are there any plugins for itunes that do compression or anything?

Thanks,
Jed

Re: some basic itunes help

2013-07-26 Thread Ray Foret jr
Well, Jed, in terms of putting music on your Iphone without having to synch
through ITunes, yes, this is possible; provided, that is, that you are willing
to pay for a third party app solution. Here's a tip though. You see, if you
make sure that all your meta data tagging follows your folder organization
exactly, that is, you have your music organized in artist/Album/song order,
ITunes will behave properly and not mess up your stuff when you synch it to
your Iphone. At least, that's what they say. I have found that Wondershare
Mobile go for IOS is great if all you wish to do is to put music on your phone,
take it off again, and cause the music files on your phone to synch with
ITunes. However, there do seem to be some accessibility issues of which the
developer is aware. I do know of another app which can cause you to see your
Iphone as though it were a drive, but, forget just plain pasting your music
using that. The reason is that when either ITunes or Wondershare adds
something to your Music folder, some propriarity stuff happens that I don't
quite understand and that is why just regular pasting does not seem to work.
So sorry if this ain't what you expected, but, it's the best I got for now. My
hope is that others can help you better: for, you see, I too am interested in
this question.

Sent from my mac, the only computer with full accessibility for the blind
built-in!

The Constantly Barefooted Ray

Re: some basic itunes help

2013-07-26 Thread Ricardo Walker
Hi,

I would suggest making a playlist in iTunes. Then, go to iTunes preferences,
and under advanced, make sure Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to
library and Keep iTunes Media folder organized is unchecked. This way, the
music to iTunes won’t be duplicated on your drive and, there’s no way iTunes
will mess up the way your music is organized on your Mac.

So once your playlist is created, you can add the music you want to put on your
iPhone to it then sync.

iTunes Help.

2012-08-29 Thread Emilio Hernandez
Hello folks,

Recently I posted asking a question about an iTunes problem. While the response
was appreciated, it did not help resolve my issue.
Basically, iTunes is not registering my library because none of my music,
movies, podcast, or television show are appearing within the application.
Within the actual iTunes directory all of my aforementioned files are still
present. I have performed a reboot of my machine and have also tried adding
some files back into iTunes via the automatically add to iTunes folder, but
there is no change.
iTunes is not shared with anything and the only time I sync is when moving
items to the iPad.
Has anyone encountered a similar issue or does anyone have any suggestions on
how to resolve this problem?

Thank you guys.

I didn't check the past threads but have you re-pointed iTunes to where
your library is located? Holding down the option key during launch will
cause iTunes to prompt you to locate the iTunes library.

Re: iTunes Help.

2012-08-29 Thread Tim Kilburn
Hi,

I've never experienced anything like that. I'm guessing that you either have
multiple Library files in your iTunes folder or that there is something corrupt
within your existing Library database since you're still having issues when
trying to add things.

I would have iTunes recreate your Library by doing the following:

• Make sure that iTunes is Quit.
• Start iTunes again but make sure that your option key remains down during the
startup of iTunes. The easiest way to ensure this occurs is to press VO-space
on the iTunes Dock item but don't release your VO keys.
• iTunes will bring up the Choose a Library dialog.
• Press cmd-shift-h to focus on your Home Directory.
• Navigate to your Music folder and expand it.
• Select the iTunes folder from within the Music folder.
• Press on the Choose button.

iTunes should pick the Library file from within that folder. Hopefully,
everything gets rebuilt and you see everything once again. If this doesn't do
anything for you, you'll most likely need to go into your iTunes Preferences,
under the Advanced pane. The first item in that pane shows your iTunes media
location. You can press on the Change button and change it to your media
folder. This folder is located within the iTunes folder and is either called
iTunes Media or iTunes Music. Once you select this folder, iTunes will add the
items from within that folder to the iTunes database and thus they will appear
in your iTunes Library. If you had any Playlists, these will be lost as the
process is like starting a iTunes Library from scratch. Not the best option if
you had lots of Playlists but at least you'll have all the media items back in
your Library.

Re: iTunes Help.

2012-08-29 Thread Ioana Gandrabur
HI,

Maybe this will help. FOund this on the macworld page:
Good luck.

Ioana
Symptom: There's no music in your iTunes library when there should be.
Cure 1: Rebuild your music library by creating a new iTunes database file. To
do so, follow these steps.

1. Quit iTunes if it's running.

2. Locate the iTunes 4 Music Library file (or iTunes 3 Music Library file, if
you're using that version of iTunes).

On a Macintosh you'll find this file in the iTunes folder within the music
folder inside your user folder (~/Music/iTunes).

On a Windows PC this file is found within the iTunes folder inside your user's
My Music file (or, more specifically, C:\Document and Settings\username\My
Documents\My Music\iTunes, where username is your user name -- bubba, for
example).

3. Add (old) to the iTunes Music Library file's name (without the quotes,
please) -- iTunes 4 Music Library (old), for instance. If there's already a
file with that name, append (old1) to the name.

4. Launch iTunes. When you do so, a new database file will be built and
everything should be hunky dory.

Cure 2: Be sure that your iTunes Music folder is where iTunes thinks it is.

On a Macintosh, the iTunes Music folder is kept in this location by default:
~/Music/iTunes.

The default location on a Windows PC is: C:\Document and Settings\username\My
Documents\My Music\iTunes.

In the Advanced tab of iTunes' preferences, you can change this default
location. If you've done so and haven't moved your music files, no songs will
appear in iTunes library.

Cure 3: Add your songs again.

If you can locate your music files by rummaging around on your hard drive but
iTunes seems dead set against showing them, use the Add to Library command in
the File menu to find your music and add it again. Before doing so, open the
Advanced tab of iTunes' preferences and make sure that the Copy Files to iTunes
Music Folder When Adding to Library option is unchecked. With this option
unchecked, song titles will be added to iTunes without the songs themselves
being copied to the iTunes Music folder.

Please check out my cd on www.ioanagandrabur.com on iTunes and most online

Anyone tried to use itunes help lately?

2010-10-26 Thread Donna Goodin
Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone's tried to use itunes help lately. I tried searching
to figure out the way to burtn a CD. I got the itunes busy message, and it
just kept repeating over and over again. I was thinking of reporting this to
accessibility, but thought I'd check to see if anyone else has experienced the
problem.
Best,
Donna

Same here. The initial help screen with the lessons on will display, but try
searching or using the shortcut keys option in the menu and it gets very busy!

Cheers
Dave

I have a podcast for beginners from a beginner but it covers some of what you
want. Check i tout at http://marrie.podbean.com and look for a heading with
itunes in it. actually look for 2.

Re: Itunes help please?

2010-06-27 Thread Allison Manzino
Hi Kari,

I'm new to the Mac as well. I've only had my Macbook since April. I had this
same trouble. As far as putting all my music content and stories on the Mac
from Windows I used my Seagate hard drive and just plugged it in to the USB
port on the Mac. To open something of this nature, you hit control, option
shift and D as in David. This will bring you to the desktop. You find the hard
drive and hit command O and the drive will open. Then you can just copy with
command C and paste with command V. Someone more knowledgable than me has
probably already answered your next question, but I will try my best to answer
it also.

To sync your Iphone or Ipad with Itunes, you plug it in as normal and in Itunes
it will show up in the sources list. You make sure you are on the Iphone or
Ipad and you just Vo right arrow. You will have something like Iphone setting
scroll area. You interact with that and you should see all your tabs that you
can sync different content with. Just hit VO Space to select the music, books,
podcasts tab, etc. I hope that helps. I will have a podcast on configuring and
syncing Iphone content with selected playlists by the end of today. Have a
wonderful day and congratulations on your transition to the Mac. I have been a
Windows user for years, and I love my Mac! I will always have a Windows PC
around, but my Mac is my go to PC now.
