RE: sos tone from mac book

2017-06-09 Thread Simon Fogarty
Thanks for that,

Same thing google said but wasn’t sure of the how to recover from it.

If I call apple I will need a serial number from the machine if I’m not
mistaken?

Great, I’ll have to find a set of eyes to do the reading for me.

Hi Simon. This means that your EFI ROM is corrupted, and the computer is in EFI
rom recovery mode. Unfortunately, this mode is not accessible, and since your
computer is not new enough, it does not recover on its own. You need a restore
CD which you can obtain through Apple. I suggest contacting them.

Hi Listers,

I’ve got a mac book from approx. 2008 2009, it’s a 13” notebook and when I
power it on it gives a tone like S.O.S but reversed three long tones three
short and then three long again,

I’ve taken out the ram and replaced it including with incorrect ram which gives
a 3 tone chime which keeps going on and on and twhen the ram was corrected it
went back to the S.O.S tone,

There doesn’t appear to be any text on the screen

Does anyone have any idea what might be hpappening with this machine.

It has been powered off for approx. 12 months and last time it was used was to
migrate data from it to a new mac book air.

I’d love to get this machine up and running again if anyone can give me info on
what is possibly happening.

Cheers,

sos tone from mac book

2017-06-08 Thread Simon Fogarty
Hi Listers,

I've got a mac book from approx. 2008 2009, it's a 13" notebook and when I
power it on it gives a tone like S.O.S but reversed three long tones three
short and then three long again,

I've taken out the ram and replaced it including with incorrect ram which gives
a 3 tone chime which keeps going on and on and twhen the ram was corrected it
went back to the S.O.S tone,

There doesn't appear to be any text on the screen

Does anyone have any idea what might be hpappening with this machine.

It has been powered off for approx. 12 months and last time it was used was to
migrate data from it to a new mac book air.

I'd love to get this machine up and running again if anyone can give me info on
what is possibly happening.

Cheers,
