Re: Missing af-sb-init.sh during installation
Thank you all, Rekha and Harini! I just realize that the installation is not completed. I should have to install maemo-sdk-nokia-binaries. Yes, I also tried to apt-update but it couldn't connect to the maemo repo, due to incorrect resolv.conf file. Now I configure all of them. It should work ;-) Thanks, have a nice day! Missing af-sb-init.sh during installation
Hi there, Due to slow Internet connection, I have to install SB and Maemo SDK manually, following http://tablets-dev.nokia.com/4.0/INSTALL.txt Scratchbox is ok, tested a simple Helloworld. Then I installed SDK like this: - copy maemo-sdk-rootstrap_4.0_armel.tar and ___i386.tar to /scratchbox/packages - use sb-menu, create 2 targets, ARMEL and X86, extract files to them using above files. As I remember, that's enough to setup Maemo like I did a lot before. But this time, I can't start Maemo as there's no af-sb-init.sh. I search on other machine, there're 2 files af-sb-init.sh in /usr/bin for each target. I also tried to browse 2 rootstrap files above, but there're not, too. What's step I might miss? I'll be happy to hear from you. Thanks, Jakov ___ maemo-users mailing list maemo-users@maemo.org https://lists.maemo.org/mailman/listinfo/maemo-users

Re: What maemo and scratchbox could we use on Fedora 8?
Well done! I'm the next person succeeding with Fedora 8 + Maemo 4.0 + Scratchbox 1.0.8. I really don't know/remember how to overcome the erors above, I tried many times and steps without noting (as beginning). I'm about to sum up some main steps: - $ setarch i386 - $ sudo ./maemo-scratchbox-install_4.0.sh -s /scratchbox -u testx64 - $ gedit .bashrc - $ sudo /scratchbox/sbin/sbox_ctl start - $ sh maemo-sdk-install_4.0.sh -s /scratchbox -y - install dialog - [sbox-CHINOOK_X86: ~] > fakeroot apt-get install python2.3-dev Set qemu : sb-conf setup N800 --compiler=cs2005q3.2-glibc2.5-arm--devkits=cputransp:debian-etch --cputransp= qemu-arm-0.8.2-sb2 sb-conf setup N800 -c cs2005q3.2-glibc2.5-arm -d cputransp -t qemu-arm Or use sb-menu to set (don't know which way works :P) Run: $ Xephyr :2 -host-cursor -screen 800x480x16 -dpi 96 -ac -extension Composite New terminal: $ setarch i386 $ sudo /scratchbox/sbin/sbox_ctl start $ /scratchbox/login > export DISPLAY=:2 > af-sb-init.sh start You should install maemopad as the following how-to http://maemo.org/development/documentation/how-tos/4-x/how_to_write_new_application_in_maemo_4-0.html Hope this quick note would be useful for someone like me before. ;) Thank you all! I'm glad that we have such a good tool to work with Nokia development! And once more, let me ask (in vain? hope not) that have anyone succeeded in using maemo on Fedora 8 x86_64? I'm very sorry that I've disturbed your guys with this stupid problem, but how can I not do that if I'm stuck at the very beginning? Hi all, I'm trying to install Maemo but as you see, at first we need to have scratchbox installed already. But there're at least 3 verions of scratchbox: - 1. standard scratchbox: at www.scratchbox.org, for 32-bit environment only - 2. unofficial scratchbox 64-bit: http://scratchbox.org/download/files/sbox-releases/x86_64/ - 3. scratchbox2: http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/sbox2 - a new branch of sb, 64-bit support. I'm using Fedora x86_64, and I tried all of them but got no success (got crazy only, hic) - case 1: realize that it's for 32-bit. Then quit. Look like I might have to chroot to install 32-bit on my 64-bit but not try yet. - case 2: it's old stuff. (2005). Don't remember exactly - I was stuck with this problem last week, it was related to qemu problem - case 3: almost successfully. But I couldn't install debian etch successfully (error: gcc: /etch_root/lib/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.4' not found (required by gcc)- trying again and again. Please tell me which scratchbox you're using on the same environment (Fedora 8, AMD 64-bit) for me to go on the right way. Maemo on 64-bit environment
Hi all, I used Maemo on a 32-bit Ubuntu well, but when I moved to 64-bit Fedora, there're a lot of problem I have been dealing with during installation. Begin with Scratchbox. As I know, Scratchbox is 32-bit supported only. So I can't install by script like file INSTALL.txt described. By searching on Net, I found Scratchbox 64-bit supported version at http://scratchbox.org/download/files/sbox-releases/x86_64/rpm/ Last modified time is 19-Aug-2005 - too old, right? And in fact, this version 1.0.1.rc1 is too old. But I don't know how to update to required version: 1.0.6 And how about Scratchbox 2? It says it's 64-bit supported. I tried it but got no success. Could you tell me how and where to start now please? I'm getting stuck here... Thanks in advance!
