You could try adding an entry for the IPv4 address of outlook.office365.com to your /etc/hosts file. Haven’t tested it but it’s worth a shot. Another option (assuming it doesn’t make SSL mad) might be to use the IPv4 address in MailMate’s config as your IMAP server address (rather than “outlook.office365.com”). Additionally, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with disabling it on your system to get things to work now. It’s unlikely to break anything. Stijn says that IPv6 is the future, but IMO the future is going to take a while to arrive, if it ever does. Some people think IPv6 has failed and we’ll have to try something else. Go figure! Hope this helps. -sam ___ mailmate mailing list mailmate@lists.freron.com https://lists.freron.com/listinfo/mailmate
Re: [MlMt] Disable IPv6 in MailMate
Hi, These things like prefer IPv6 over IPv4 are and should be operating system items and not application settings. The only thing you might want to consider is to disable IPv6 on your Apple device. (Which is not actually recommended as IPv6 is the future and IPv4 the past). The only real solution is for your employer to either offer IPv4 only or a working dual stack config (i.e. IPv4 and IPv6). They now provide a working alley (IPv4) with a broken highway (IPv6). Stijn On Wed, Jul 3, 2019, at 21:17, Zi Yan wrote: > Hi Stijin, > > Because it is the only workaround provided by my company. Re: [MlMt] Disable IPv6 in MailMate
Hi Stijin, Because it is the only workaround provided by my company. My company uses Exchange server, which provides IMAP service via outlook.office365.com. My guess is that outlook.office365.com has both IPv4 and IPv6 addresses, but my company internal Exchange server only has IPv4 addresses and IPv6 seems preferred over IPv4. As a result, when outlook.office365.com relays the email request to my company mail server via IPv6, no connection can be made, leading to errors. Maybe a better solution would be a “prefer IPv4 over IPv6” setting? -- Best Regards, Yan Zi On 3 Jul 2019, at 13:50, Stijn Jonker via mailmate wrote: Yan, Why would you want to disable this, if the service you are connecting (IMAP of your company) doesn't support IPv6, it would (should) not have an IPv6 address entry in DNS. Re: [MlMt] Disable IPv6 in MailMate
Yan, Why would you want to disable this, if the service you are connecting (IMAP of your company) doesn't support IPv6, it would (should) not have an IPv6 address entry in DNS. So if Mailmate would lookup the IP address for imap.example.com it would only get an IPv4 address and connect only over IPv4 and not even attempt IPv6.
