RE: MI ad or else?
From another angle - there free email list services, e.g. www.egroups.com. Any group of interested people can form a list there - for free. And they claim they have a good-working anti-spam policy. MI RE: saving/loading legends to files
Yes, In Layer Control tool you click on your table, then click on thematic and you will see Template/Save As. This serves to save your settings for your thematic legend. To load existing settings you click on Merge (Template). Milo -Original Message-From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of Miguel CerecedaSent: 07 September 2000 04:22To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]Subject: MI: saving/loading legends to files Hello MapInfo Gurus! I am beginning to work with MapInfo/MapBasic (I have been working with ArcView till now). I would like to know if it is possible (and how) to save legends to files and load legends from files, something similar to the files ".avl" in ArcView. I need to use the same symbology for every layer and I need the posibility to configure it too. Thanks very much. I will sum of course! Miguel Cereceda
MI Automatic PDFs from mapinfo workspace
Maybe not 100% percent mapinfo question, but I am sure a lot of MI users could tackle it. I wnat to batch print about a hundred maps (each in its own workspace) into pdf documents using the Adobe PDFWriter. Is there a way to submit the name of the pdf file automatically as the name of its respective workspace? T`he PDFWriter asks for the name and I want to prevent it. I do not have a mapbasic, but thought of preparing a "printing workspace" file. Any suggestions will be most welcome. MI Run application
What is the syntax of a mapbasic command to run an application? I want to start a workspace within another workspace, but on entering RunAplication... I get an error. I do not have a Mapbasic so I cannot check the syntax. MI Large - format pdf output
Perhaps not directly MI related, but I'm sure Mi users tackled this problem before. I would like to print MI-generated maps into pdf format using Acrobat Distiller 3.01. The problem is that Distiller only lists A4 and similar formats, while I need A2 format. Perhaps it is related to postscript driver installed for Distiller - can anyone recommend a postscript driver for A2 format? Re: MI USSR Map Projections
I guess the projection was left out for "national security" reasons. Even if you find some they might be intentionally inaccurate. Milo "Wong, Judy" wrote: I have a paper geology map 1:5,000,000 for the former USSR. As is typical of their older manually created products, there is no indication as to what projection was used to create the map. There are features that I would like to digitize from the map and add to a compilation of data that has been created in MapInfo. Is there a site that has "common" map projecitons of the various areas of the world? MI Layout merge
I've got about 60 workspaces each containing an A4 layout. I'd like to somehow streamline "merging" 4 A4 containing wor files into one A2 format wor file. Is there an elegant solution to do it? I do not want to go to recreating layouts within MI itself - I thought of some text editing approach using existing wor files. Anyone tried it already? Re: MI MapInfo to pdf
I've used printing into pdf for quite some time now - and can only recommend it. However you have to select 600 dpi as your default resolution - it looks publication quality. Use only proper paper for your deskjet/plotter - it does make a difference. The resulting output looks much better from Acrobat than printing directly from MI, especially text - fonts are somewhat rounder, less affected by "rastering" effects. Milo Declan Troy wrote: Mappers, Anyone with positive comments about printing layouts (map windows) to pdf files using Acrobat. Do the pdf files look pretty true to the originals? Does printed output of the pdf file compare well with printing direct from MapInfo? I've yet to try it but it seems that combining pdf files might be a good way to get map illustrations into reports with reasonable quality (better than saving windows as files) if the map pdfs retain printer quality.
